Would your husband…

I had accidentally put something in the dustbin today, needed it before bed (11:30) I told my husband who told me to go get it. It’s pitch black, almost midnight and the bin is at the end of the drive.

Would your husband ask you to go retrieve the item or would he go get it?

It’s 2024, cop on. What about people living on their own? How do they distribute the nice/icky jobs? They don’t, you just get on with it.

I wrote that earlier.
Please read.

Yes. I am not stating otherwise. I would suggest that grocery shopping and childcare still tend to fall more on women and "icky" jobs on men.

@StormingNorman @Mothership4two @DinaofCloud9

There is going to be part 2 from @Frogpole

I've got the 🍿, if you want to share?

bananaramaterry · 28/05/2024 06:49

Frogpole · 28/05/2024 06:45

@StormingNorman OP asked a question about spouses willingness to do things for each other.
I mentioned that A lot of the comments were really bitchy.
You then launched in to your precious little tirade, telling me that the question "Would your spouse do this for you" has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a person's spouse would do this for them (thank fcuk you were here to tell OP what she really meant, can't have these silly little girls thinking for themselves, right Norm? Norm?) and is actually a sign that OP has violently sent equality back to the days when women couldn't vote - which you think is my fault, somehow.

Good effort, you little suffragette you!

@Mothership4two I'm equally as curious as to where you found all these helpful, kind and supportive comments, what part of my very, very simple comment made it entirely above your reading level, or why you think "hey, can you do me a favour please" is inequality and oppression.. we've all got our crosses to bear though, right?

@DinaofCloud9 So, I politely and calmly express my opinion about a matter on a public discussion forum where people come to freely express their opinions on a matter. The opinion I express is that a lot of users here are being nasty and spiteful when there's absolutely no reason for it.

You then come along and completely unprovoked you start swearing at me and making personal attacks on me - attacks entirely unrelated to what my opinion is, but because I had the gall to express my opinion at all, when you think I shouldn't be allowed to even have an opinion.

You're right Dino - I'm the one with a problem here. Also irony doesn't exist...

Pt 2 to follow...

I'm not sure it was politely and calmly, it was more a sort of angry rage, typing complete nonsense, but it was very entertaining and gave lots of opportunity to ridicule you.

"Politely and calmly" GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Much better, did you get your wife to proof read it this time?

Now off you pop to work, no one is interested in you or your 1950s attitude as you can see.

Only the incapable agreed with you.

Little bit of advice, don't try to police a predominantly female board, it won't end well.

I'm with you @Clarabell77 and the ones of us that are capable are jealous of their"gentlemen"!

SpringerFall · 28/05/2024 06:34

Clarabell77 · 28/05/2024 06:29

I’m sure it’s the husbands who are useless lazy pigs - the ones who are not “gentlemen”..

I read it as men have to do these jobs because women are useless and need a man to do it for them

Sure personally I am just as capable as any man but it appears not all women chose to be

Clarabell77 · 28/05/2024 06:29

Sweden99 · 27/05/2024 22:47

I read it as the husbands being gentlemen and the husbands are married to women who are "useless lazy pigs" according to @MrsMammy. MN has gone a bit women hating.

Learned helplessness is a massive problem.

I think Chihuahuas are kind of jerks. I think they're happy to attack people.

There definitely is a canine equivalent of small man syndrome.

No. He would get it.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 27/05/2024 13:17

Who DOES that though? 😆 Do people use their chihuahua to attack others? I don't even know anyone who has a chihuahua! Or is using the word chihuahua a euphemism too?! I have so many questions about @Frogpole 's weird outburst! 😂

Ladies, it would appear that so many women on here are extremely angry and upset by the fact we have gentlemen for husbands and they're at home with their useless lazy pigs 😂

I’m not sure, I walk h9me at 11.30pm at least once a week, I’ll check next time to see if any other women are out…and report back.

It does seem to be a thing but I just find it so confusing. Where do these people live? Do I just not know any cos they’re never out?

GrumpyMiddleAgedCow · 27/05/2024 22:17

Iwasafool · 27/05/2024 19:56

I would, and have, done it for my husband but he is disabled. Good job he isn't married to someone who is too precious to do it.

Well obviously if circumstances were different both of us would help the other. However, when it’s a case of the reason I don’t want to walk to the end of the drive to rectify my mistake is because it’s dark that’s a totally different story.

watermelonsugar56 · 27/05/2024 22:07

Some people on this thread have clearly never had to let a diva dog out for their business, barking their heart out at 3am with a husband who’s dead to the world 🤣

BigDahliaFan · 27/05/2024 21:58

Toenailz · 27/05/2024 21:55

I'm really confused - is it really common for women not to step outside their house at 11.30pm?

Doesn't that make you feel like a prisoner of your own home or anything? 🤔

Our bins get collected on a Monday even if it’s a bank holiday.

I wouldn't even ask, I'd just go and get it myself. He probably would go if I asked him, but would think it pretty strange of me to ask.

Oh stop it, you perfectly capable adult!!

You've not even regarded the feeble women, that's DHs are such gentlemen.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 27/05/2024 21:01

SushiAndRamen · 27/05/2024 20:46

Why are all you grown adults scared of being outside in the dark? It's nuts.

I love being in the dark! Something enchanting and mystical about it! I stayed outside for an hour watching the Northern Lights the other week. (DH was at away with work, and so I was on my own!) I saw 2 shooting stars that night too. I also enjoy going for walks in the dark!

The OP has disappeared, so we must guess. I understood it was that getting out of the bin would be a bigger pain in the bum for her.
