Ok, I understand. It's perfectly OK for Sunak to make decisions on how to run the country based on how he and his family can personally indirectly profit, but It's not ok for Starmer to run the country based on what may or may not be right for his family.

No double standards there at all.Confused

Im not the one saying there’s a problem here - you are.

Starmer’s wife works for the NHS. Does she have to resign to permit him to make decisions benefitting that organisation?

She’s an occupational therapist so hardly in a position to profit by squillions of £ if he was PM.

Perhaps some of the businesses Ms Murthy invests benefit from government decisions; many businesses do.

Mrs Sunaks husband is also indirectly benefitting. Just a teeny conflict of interest. I wonder what the current ethics advisor thinks?

Why is it a conflict of interest? Are you saying that no member of the government can ever be in a position to benefit from government decision making? A startling proposition, if so

Is there one now? Johnson dispensed with the role when he was PM.

Aren’t they just? They’re no fun to write either. If only they weren’t necessary.

The term necessary clearly being given an unusual definition here.
its ok, you can spare me the explanation

Again I have to wonder why it’s so difficult for some people to believe that the Murthys came by their wealth legitimately.

For whatever reason you make it personal and insulting

Pot meet kettle. Who said this?

Don’t read it then 🤷‍♀️ you’re here every time

You're also more obsessed with ‘toilets’

Have you ever started a thread on the topic you want to discuss? or more about having a go on these ones

Well you are here on these threads despite saying how much you’re not interested each time 🤷‍♀️

It’s not a comment on your life or whatever as in the pp.

Inaccurate on their part anyway.

@GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight

Did I say I would vote for the Tories?

That's the problem. As women, we aren't exactly overwhelmed by great options are we. Most of the political parties want to remove the category of 'woman' all together, thus removing a century and a half of hard-fought-for rights, and the remainder just ignore us and hope we will be quiet.

Based on a typo in a daily mail article

It was a Sky News interview.

I've heard the same, incorrect, fact said about Yvette Coopers son

Yvette Cooper's son is a trans activist/ally and lead ambassador for Trans in the City.

It's not a conspiracy theory to point out that Sunaks wife is directly profiting from decisions the British government makes, that has been widely reported and fact checked by the mainstream media.

It is a conspiracy theory to talk about shady "vested interests" the leader of the opposition might have based on a verbal slip up he made in an interview once. Which is where this started.

This is a useful article, summarising the UK government's concerns:

These conspiracy theories often exploit valid questions or go far beyond legitimate concerns - instead suggesting elaborate plots for which there is no evidence.

Eh? Who are you referring to?
I have only seen Labour bring things up when there are actual facts that people might find relevant. Such as Rishi Sunak doing deals that benefit his wife's financial interests. That's fair game. Speculation about teenage children and their potential medical issues isn't. In my opinion.

David Cameron's trade mission to India in 2010 kick-started with a speech at Infosys' headquarters in Bangalore - five years before Sunak became an MP. Will Labour pledge not to involve Infosys in any trade talks with India?

Of course one might say the same about the lengths some posters go to, to shut down debate about Sunaks family. There is a lot more cause for concern there.

The self identification of Starmers child is irrelevant to anything. Maybe you should go and read up about the first trans MP and how well they have been supported by their party leader. Maybe there is a vested interest there.

Still banging away with the conspiracy theories then …

I assume it's to respond to OP asserting that Labour "ignore women and children's rights" by pointing out why that is in fact untrue.

Puberty blockers and self ID are actually a derail to OPs thread.

They’re part of gender ideology and something that women who have spoken up have had success in changing.

Despite the attacks from various sections telling them not to.

Whether those have been aggressive, threatening or otherwise.

GentlemanJohnny · 17/05/2024 12:20

Who cares? He's leader of the "We're not the Tories" party and that's all that matters.

I suggest you take s look at Wales, where Labour have been in government since the beginning if devolution.

The Senedd, the Welsh Assembly as was, has just voted against accepting the Cass Report.

And do take a look at the Welsh Government's LGBTQ+ Action Plan for Wales.
https://www.gov.wales/lgbtq-action-plan-wales

It's like they looked at the halfwittery up in Scotland and had a massive 'hold my beer' moment.
