@PoppingTomorrow there are plenty of photos of Labour officials partying (sorry I forgot, they are untouchable). And the answer is YES, they are as corrupt as the Tories.

Oh really, where? Weird that the Murdoch press didn't make sure they were everywhere. Keir Starmer had a beer with activists during a meeting. Not quite the same.

How can you know the pp is ‘pretending’?

I’m sure she knows her reasons more than someone else

She admitted that there isn't a party that doesn't have gender views she does agree with.

@CrappySack Labour partied during Covid too and would have made a hash of things too

Oh WHY isn't there a centre left party that had none of these shitty ideologies and just simply wants the best for the country ?

Yes I'll vote tories and convinced a few others. In the meantime I'll dream of a day when this country respects liberal values without all this cheap and disappointing ideology.

Thanks for your concern but thankfully we're in a democracy and I vote for who I want (and you do too)

Evidence please

I never said you should vote Tory. Everyone's vote is their own.

You were the one who said you couldn't understand why women vote Labour.

I was just explaining why I am.

You obviously don't mind voting for a party that betrays women as you'll vote Tory. That's fine, but don't pretend that's why you won't vote for Labour.

Where's your evidence "Labour partied during Covid"?
Would Labour have awarded PPE contracts worth millions to their mates who then failed to deliver usable goods?

I think some people like to pretend every politician is the same to justify voting for people they know are crap. And maybe to try and convince others?

Unfortunately this is one of the issues why I could never vote Labour. How can WOMEN betray women by voting Labour I'll never understand

I see it as more of betrayal to women, children, disabled and other disadvantaged people to vote Tory after everything they have done.

Not to mention the people who didn't get to see their dying loved ones to say goodbye in COVID while they were partying and laughing at us.

The fact that some Labour people think TWAW doesn't even compare to that. Particularly as some Tory people, including the person pipped to replace Sunak as leader of the party, think TWAW too.

Your choice. Other women see their choice differently.

It's an easy choice for me.

Nothing could get me to vote for these current arseholes so I'll be voting tactically in the hope of getting them out.

Same
Edit to say as in voting them out that is

Churchview · 18/05/2024 09:02

Thank you for replying @FlirtsWithRhinos . I suppose, as always, all we can do is vote for whom we feel will best serve the country and our own priorities.

I can't imagine the state of the country if we have five more years of this. For me, it's change that's needed across the board and this, more than anything, will influence how I vote.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 18/05/2024 00:27

Churchview · 17/05/2024 09:28

I wonder if I might genuinely and respectfully ask - Are those posters who are unhappy with Labour's stance on this issue confident of how the Conservatives will deal with this matter in future, especially given reference to their performance in this area over the past 14 years? Things have become a real mess, obviously frightening so for some, and I would be interested to know how you feel the Conservatives will deal with this situation which clearly isn't going to disappear whichever party governs next.

Also to the same posters. Can I please ask are you satisfied with what the Conservatives have achieved for women and children over the same period? On balance do you think women and children are generally in a better position now than where we were in 2010? It seems to me that we clearly aren't and I find it hard to get over that in relation to a single issue. Does that issue outweigh the general situation and, if so, how?

Just eager to get an insight into the wider feelings of those for whom this subject is clearly a burning issue.

I suppose I'm primarily asking @Allthesea, @Marjoriefrobisher and @Greengablesfables because of your constant presence on the thread, but any other input would be really welcome.

No I'm not happy. It's fucking dreadful. I can't believe in 2024 we are faced with either voting for Labour who in theory will be better for the country but are also proving that for all their rhetoric of equity and rights they will cheerfully lie about what they know to be true, deny reality and endorse injustice and unfairness if they've decided it serves the greater good and whose supporters are basically telling women "your voices and issues arent important to anyone so if you want better support for your kids or better housing or for anyone to care about your abortions and DV in future you better just suck up the gender shit and vote Labour anyway", for the Tories who don't seem capable of realising that even the most cut throat neo liberal market forces economy of Ayn Rands' dreams needs some degree of public expenditure to remain functional, for the greens who seem to have concluded if they sign up for every progressive cause all at once, the weight of their own righteous bullshit will act as a carbon sink, the women's equality party who are so equal they literally can't tell the difference between men and women, the lib dems (see Labour), the SDP (see Tories), Reform who believe a 1950s Eagle comic is a manual for government, or a bunch of tiny parties and independents some of whom might even be rational but none of whom have any hope of getting the numbers to be delectable.

No, I am not fucking happy. I'm fucking furious with the whole fucking lot. Tories meh cos Tories gonna Tory, but Labour and the supporters who bend over to excuse them should be better than this!

CrappySack · 17/05/2024 22:45

No Marjorie, as I've already said, my question wasn't about the tax issue as was quite clear in the original question. I have read up on the tax issue widely and have formed my own opinions on that, so that's why I've not raised that question here or elsewhere on MN.

Neither did my question assume any political loyalties on your part. It was asking for the opinion of posters on this thread who seemed to believe that Labour's approach is wrong. If that is not what you believe then I'm sorry to have bothered you but the question is always there if you would like to give your view on it. It's not a trick - I am interested in any answers from anyone.

As I say, I hope someone will be able to answer my initial question please.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2024 22:41

Disingenuous = dishonest, deceitful, underhand.

Marjoriefrobisher · 17/05/2024 22:35

Churchview · 17/05/2024 22:21

My question was clearly completely unrelated to the tax issue and entirely concerned with the wider issues regarding the rights and welfare of women and children. I've included your name in my post as you have posted widely across a range of subjects and not just the tax issue, so I felt you must feel very strongly about the subject raised in the OP.

I'm sorry you don't want to answer my question Marjorie and hope that someone else will. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Perhaps you could also ask some questions of those smearing Sunak repeatedly with no evidence - which is what I’ve been posting about here, and which caused you to assume I must be loyal to him politically. I’ve asked about this several times with no response. Or does that not interest you?

Marjoriefrobisher · 17/05/2024 22:33

GoodAfternoonGoodEveningAndGoodnight · 17/05/2024 22:19

Sorry, but what are you actually talking about?
What's with all the cryptic "must revealing" insinuations (insinuating what, and why?) at someone who just asked a perfectly reasonable question in context to the thread instead of just answering?

you’ve missed the point. The question assumed certain political loyalties on my part, when what I’d been mainly posting about was unjustified smears against Sunak. It genuinely didn’t occur to her that a person might object to the behaviour as a matter of principle irrespective of their political opinion of Sunak or the current government.
If demanding answers to questions is the thing to do, perhaps she could also demand some answers of those who continue to attack his financial probity with no evidence. I’ve asked those doing that for an explanation repeatedly with no answer. she doesn’t seem interested in that, however. Strange.

Churchview · 17/05/2024 22:21

Marjoriefrobisher · 17/05/2024 22:05

What’s interesting to me about your question (which was quite clearly framed from a critical viewpoint, not one of genuine enquiry, so let’s drop that silliness) was that it demonstrates that you assume that my objections to the smearing of the Sunak/murthys, which is what I have been posting about, must be the product of a particular political viewpoint. The possibility that it might be a genuine objection to smears with murky motivations didn’t occur to you.

I have nothing to gain by being disingenuous and honestly am not.

I'm active on here across a range of threads and boards and have no axe to grind.

The wider issues are important for me and I wonder how they figure for posters who seem so focused on this single issue. Also, because Labour are being portrayed as failing in this area, I wonder how you believe the other parties compare.

I am asking what I think is a reasonable question in the context of the thread.
