.. clap your hands 👏 (no I’m joking.)

Nc for this. Those of you that know you’re good looking, when complimented do you agree/acknowledge you know you’re good looking or do you insist you’re not/reverse the compliment?

do you think it’s unreasonable to outright say “I am absolutely beautiful” or hold yourself in high regard?

just say thank you and offer a compliment back (you look lovely too, love your top, etc.)

This is a predominantly English site so imo most normal English women would Scoff and say “no I don’t think so” and would then try to reverse the compliment.

I have had several mothers say it about dd2 I do the above and find it slightly awkward. Looks are a genetic lottery which she has randomly won.

I agree with this and would add that I think to deflect it is probably a cultural habit rather than disingenuous behaviour which suggests purpose.

If anyone makes a comment like this to me, I just say that's very kind of you to say thank you

Randomlygeneratedname · 13/05/2024 14:45

I just say thank you and move on when ever someone gives me a compliment. The only exception to this is if someone is complimenting something like a dress I bought in a charity shop because I like to boast about random bargains 🤣

Worldgonecrazy · 13/05/2024 14:45

I usually say thank you, unless it’s a creepy male in which case I will back away as gratiouslysafely as possible.

NorthUtsireSouthUtsire · 13/05/2024 14:45

My favourite reaction to someone (very beautiful) being complimented on their looks was ' that's so kind - thank you, shame I don't have the personality to match .. (which she absolutely does but very funny and self deprecating at the time .. you might have needed to be there to get it )

BrassOlive · 13/05/2024 14:43

I think that denying it and being all "oh stop!" is disingenuous but it wouldn't cross my mind to be like "agreed, I'm a total hotty!" either.

So instead I respond like a grown woman and politely say "thank you, that's so kind".

TheaBrandt · 13/05/2024 14:43

I say “oh they are all gorgeous aren’t they”
don’t think it’s particularly healthy to be singled out as better looking than everyone else as a teen.

IsadoraQuagmire · 13/05/2024 14:42

I just say thankyou. I loathe false modesty.

fedupandstuck · 13/05/2024 14:40

Surely as with all compliments it's not about agreeing or disagreeing, it's about thanking the other person? So you'd respond with "That's (very) kind/nice of you to say so", or similar. Or even just a "thank you" and move on.

SerenChocolateMuncher · 13/05/2024 14:39

I'm not particularly beautiful, but I'm attractive enough to receive the occasional compliment, to which I reply "Thank you."

I think agreeing with the compliment is a bit unnecessary and denying it is rude.

loropianalover · 13/05/2024 14:37

I don’t think there’s a need to ‘agree’ (yes I am stunning aren’t I!) or ‘disagree’ (I look like a fat troll today).

Just be appreciative and genuine, smile and say thank you so much, that’s so nice of you. If it’s appropriate or natural, compliment the other person back.

It depends. Some people are naturally beautiful while others have surgical enhancements. Which ones do you mean?

How would this change your answer to OP's question?
