They have always been inclusive of biological women who identify as trans men and also non binary.

But allowing men who identify as women into their sessions whilst vulnerable women are learning how to breastfeed? Seriously? And what about women like myself from a faith that doesn't permit men to be in intimate spaces with women? What about women like myself who are survivors of domestic abuse who had to learn to breastfeed whilst making symptoms of PTSD.
I don't want biological males hijacking these services for women!!!! It makes me feel unsafe, traumatised and afraid for my daughters.

Why is LLL suddenly falling over themselves to accommodate men with fetishes for lactation?

I feel like I'm going crazy when I read what's happening to places like LLL and Girl Guides.

Why are people so dangerously naive now?

Sidetracking the dads like that isn't ideal.

Rainbowshit · 04/05/2024 18:12

This makes me so angry. I'm so fed up of these males putting their narcissistic selfish desires above the needs of women and children. 🤬

Dandel10n · 04/05/2024 17:54

YANBU. Heartening to see this being reported more widely and also the support here on this more general interest board, ie not just on the FWR board.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/05/2024 17:53

This is putting male fetish above infant safety.

It's disgraceful. LLL ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Not to mention that some mothers who are on medication are advised not to breastfeed because of the potential harm to the baby. But it's ok for a male to do it regardless of potential harms because his validation is more important than child safety.

Disgusting.

SENlife · 04/05/2024 17:43

LLL are simply admitting to the fact they support Child Abuse, and Paedophilia. Utterly disgusting and I am proud that the UK trustees refused this insanity even if they got suspended for it. The Trans insanity has gone too far. Genuine Transgender people go for it enjoy life. These idiots that cry TERF can get fucked they have destroyed the safety of a community for all LGBT individuals.

I didn't know that women's own male partners were banned from the LLL support meetings (they must be banned, since they are biological males).

That doesn't seem like a successful strategy; getting support from one's partner can be vital, since that's the person supporting you at 3am when the nips hurt & the whole situation seems like Hell.

At the LLL meeting I attended dads were asked to wait outside as there were women who didn’t feel able to breastfeed with a man in the room, but offered that they could come in at the end when everyone except their partner had left, and ask questions and get advice and support together then.

It worked pretty well, except that the meeting always finished late as the demand for help was way greater than the Leader could meet in two hours a week, so sometimes the dads had a bit of a wait.

La Leche League of Gentlemen pretty much sums it up.

This is horrific oppression of women who are at their most vulnerable. Disgusting to think a man who wants to abuse a child by using it for his fetish is prioritised in a breast feeding group.

LLL can fuck off. It’s beyond insanity.

This. They are enabling and encouraging sick perverts to abuse tiny children. ENOUGH.

LeftFooter · 04/05/2024 16:55

Blimey. The founders of LLL must be turning in their graves. Devout Christians who named the charity after Nuestra Señora de la Leche y Buen Parto, meaning "Our Lady of Happy Delivery and Plentiful Milk".

Nameychango · 04/05/2024 16:47

Totally agree!!!!! When I went for breastfeeding support to a similar group ran by midwives, it was a sanctuary for those who had given birth and struggling or needed guidance and support on feeding etc. speaking for myself, if a male or non biological female had been there, I think I would have cried and left! It's tough enough coping with the exhaustion, hormones, physical side of recovering from pregnancy, not to mention the embarrassment of having your boobs out when you are not doing it well or struggling!! I am absolutely horrified!!!!

Hankunamatata · 04/05/2024 16:06

It should be biology, not identity. If you birthed a child and breast feeding that child then you can attend meeting otherwise nope.

AllCatsAreAutistic · 04/05/2024 15:34

I'll get back to you when I have worked out who irritates me more: the trans lobby or the breastfeeding absolutists.

Maybe I can help you decide.

One of these groups has members who get sexual gratification pretending to breastfeed newborns. The other does not.

minerva7 · 04/05/2024 15:43

IncompleteSenten · 04/05/2024 12:13

All of this shit shows how deeply ingrained into society the importance of prioritising and pleasing men is.
What men want must always come before what women want.
What men want must come before what women need
Men's feelings must come before women's safety.
The worst thing you can do is not prioritise men because not prioritising them is hating them.
Women's concerns are unimportant and must be dismissed.
Women who refuse to be subservient and comply must be burned at the stake criminalised, threatened or cancelled.

Same old same old.

I'm only surprised we haven't seen the reintroduction of the scold's bridle or the ducking stool.

Exactly this.

Nothing new under the sun.

I just wish I had the answers.

AhNowTed · 04/05/2024 15:37

Mother of god!

Iamnotalemming · 04/05/2024 15:29

YANBU. It's frankly outrageous.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/05/2024 15:26

Is the idea that someone pitches up without an infant and just 'joins in'? I mean would they let some random bloke in off the street to leer?

Or do you have to come with your own infant and 'join in'? Latching on etc.

I don't know which one is more worrying.

TrainedByCatsToBeScathing · 04/05/2024 15:22

CarrotSpa · 04/05/2024 11:59

I’d be deeply, deeply suspicious of any man regardless of how he identifies, who wishes to make an infant suck his nipple.

100% this. This is not relatively harmless cosplay.

Dogsaregods · 04/05/2024 12:44

How do they even square the logic of men pretending to be women having access to breastfeeding advice?
Actual women who don’t have children would be given the bums rush for time wasting if they wanted to avail of this advice 🤯

Womblingmerrily · 04/05/2024 12:35

I think the use of a virtual scold's bridle is in constant use to silence women.

It's called 'be kind'

ajdhpoqnavd · 04/05/2024 12:34

Re-reading 1984, and read this line today; "freedom is having the freedom to say 2 plus 2 is 4". Feels apt here.

Thelnebriati · 04/05/2024 12:33

YANBU. Its legal for LLL to be a single sex service here in the UK, and the US head office have no business trying to impose their own standards.

WandsOut · 04/05/2024 12:32

@Laiste It feels like every day, another new horrible infraction of women's safety.
This is the tip of the iceberg I reckon.
