Crying and walking out of hairdresser

I don’t usually place much importance on haircuts but today’s was a big one. My first haircut post brain surgery. I was partially shaved for the operation so have rocked a very misshapen head for the past 8 months. Now I have multiple bolts holding my skull together, and I guess the psychological significance of getting to cut off all of this old hair that remains and starting afresh 8 months on felt big. I researched top hairdressers in my city and booked aiming to make it a special afternoon. I explained to them in advance the scaring and bolts issue. I arranged childcare.

After 4 hours, an hour of which was spent waiting for the hairdresser, and an hour waiting with wet hair while they forgot about me at the sinks… i just got quietly teary, realised I had to leave in order to cross the city and make it home to breastfeed my baby before bed…

now walking through the city with wet hair so disappointed. First world problems I know.

was I ABU for leaving?

This hairdresser sounds appalling. Even for someone who didn't have your particular circumstance their service sounds beyond bad. For them to treat you like that when you had explained the issues beforehand is unforgivable.

I understand that you may have felt too fragile to complain on the spot and take them to task for their poor customer service, but I think when you have calmed down it would be a good idea to get in touch and explain how disappointed and upset you were by your treatment from them.

Poor you.

How could they forget about you for an hour?! Wtf!!

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 26/04/2024 17:02

Oh that's just awful!! You poor thing that's absolutely unforgiveable. You waited for 2 hours due to their negligence, shame on them. No that's not a first world problem at all, if I was your friend and there with you now I would be in there giving them a WW3 talking to. I'm so sorry to hear what happened.

MassiveChickenAtTheEveningDo · 26/04/2024 17:02

I can't understand this! You waited an hour to get started (unacceptable) then 3 hours later your hair was still wet? What were they doing?

I'd be explaining politely in writing why this is not how you treat customers...

When you feel up to it either call (or if like me you are better in writing when upset) email the manager and give them an enormous kick up the arse.

Did they cut your hair? How did they forget you? That is appalling service. I'm sorry.

AperolWhore · 26/04/2024 16:58

Oh my gosh how utterly awful of you. What did they say when you left? I hope they were appalled at their behaviour!
