Crying and walking out of hairdresser

I don’t usually place much importance on haircuts but today’s was a big one. My first haircut post brain surgery. I was partially shaved for the operation so have rocked a very misshapen head for the past 8 months. Now I have multiple bolts holding my skull together, and I guess the psychological significance of getting to cut off all of this old hair that remains and starting afresh 8 months on felt big. I researched top hairdressers in my city and booked aiming to make it a special afternoon. I explained to them in advance the scaring and bolts issue. I arranged childcare.

After 4 hours, an hour of which was spent waiting for the hairdresser, and an hour waiting with wet hair while they forgot about me at the sinks… i just got quietly teary, realised I had to leave in order to cross the city and make it home to breastfeed my baby before bed…

now walking through the city with wet hair so disappointed. First world problems I know.

was I ABU for leaving?

They sound like absolute fucking morons.
YANBU.

hermitstyle · 26/04/2024 18:03

How huge was this salon that they were able to forget about a client or how fucking rude were they all to ignore you is what I’d like to know ??? I’m furious on your behalf you deserve to be treated so so much better than that OP.

I hope you’re ok now Flowers

I'm so sorry this happened

Bluebellsinthewind · 26/04/2024 18:00

What a bunch of unprofessional clowns.

Sorry you had a horrible experience op 💐

dragonscannotswim · 26/04/2024 17:58

You poor love. They should have pulled out all the stops to make your cut and experience a good one because of your background.

Instead they were complete fickheads. I hope you didn't pay.

I'd email the manager and tell them exactly what went on. Shoddy behaviour.

I hope you're ok 💐

CoraPirbright · 26/04/2024 17:48

Oh OP! I am SO sorry. What utterly ghastly people!! I hope that, when you are feeling stronger, you shout this from the rooftops. They deserve to lose business over this.

Kindleonfire · 26/04/2024 17:37

I wouldn't have waited the hour to be seen OP, never mind sat at a sink for an hour!! The bloody cheek of them!

coldcallerbaiter · 26/04/2024 17:36

Bad service. Most ppl would have said something but you are fragile right now. It’s understandable What’s important is you and your health and your baby x

Allofaflutter · 26/04/2024 17:36

I would ask for them to pay your child care and a free cut.

samestyle · 26/04/2024 17:35

That's awful, leave them a bad review

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 26/04/2024 17:32

That’s awful. If you could say the salon and they are nearby I will happily kick their ass (or shout at them) for you my lovely.
Take care of yourself tonight 💐

AgnesX · 26/04/2024 17:31

What utter shits. It's stressful at the best of times. They should have made an effort for you

Please complain 💗

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 26/04/2024 17:28

Absolutely disgusting.
Something similar happened to me, sat in a chair for ages with wet hair in front of an open window (winter) whilst watching the hairdresser messing about with other staff members in the staff room.
I felt completely worthless, it was an awful feeling.
I feel so sorry for you, you deserve to be treated like the queen that you are.
Please rebook at a different salon and treat yourself.

WinterDeWinter · 26/04/2024 17:17

Name and shame!

bryceQ · 26/04/2024 17:15

Absolute disgrace **

bryceQ · 26/04/2024 17:15

What an absolute you poor thing! I'm so indignant for you.

holjam · 26/04/2024 17:14

Oh my goodness that's appalling!
You most definitely ANBU.
When you're up to it ring them up and make a complaint. Did any of the staff or the receptionist pass any comment when you left? Such bad service.

ItsVeryHyacinthBucket · 26/04/2024 17:14

Unforgivable, no excuse. Name and shame. If you’re not feeling strong enough to call them to complain, someone on here will come along to do it for you!

Alwaysalwayscold · 26/04/2024 17:13

This is absolutely awful and I'd be posting reviews online about it.

ToxicChristmas · 26/04/2024 17:11

YANBU at all! Did they even clock you leaving? I'm so sorry it was such a let down.

TheValueOfEverything · 26/04/2024 17:10

Poor you, I am sorry. I hope they didn't charge you a penny. They should apologise. Don't take too much more time on this, but suggest copy-pasting this post (to avoid re-writing it and re-living it) and sending it to the salon. They should do more than apologise!!

MrsWhites · 26/04/2024 17:10

Who are the 4% of people who think the OP was unreasonable here, what was she supposed to do, wait all day at the sinks?

Not everyone feels strong enough to speak up in a busy hair salon, especially after what the OP has been through medically.

Was it an independent salon or a chain OP? Either way I would send an email to the owner so they know how poor their customer service is!

PrimroseYellow1 · 26/04/2024 17:08

That’s dreadful. You were perfectly right to walk out. Feel terribly sorry for you. Just awful!

ThePoshUns · 26/04/2024 17:08

Yanbu that's appalling service. I'd email and complain

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 26/04/2024 17:07

On the plus side you have an almost-unheard-of 100% YANBU mumsnet poll rating x
