Aibu to ask if you have a famous DH

Does it bother you? I have a semi famous DH, he gets paid to gig and go on podcasts etc if we go out locally he does get asked for selfies so we tend to go away for weekends as a family.

I do find it slightly annoying but I guess it pays the bills 💃

I am so sorry but I am howling here! I have an image in my head of a middle aged bloke with questionable fashion sense setting up in a school hall and shouting Shabba at the kids after every song!

hahahaha! Please tell me your DH has a mullet and wears sunglasses indoors?- in my head he does

Ray Von style ala phoenix nights.

How can you rarely leave the house and work as a cleaner at the same time?

Wfh

Enjoy it while it lasts. I have a friend who is married to a bloke who was a regular in a show which was on telly through the 90s and early 00s. He’s a total has-been now, hasn’t worked in over 10 years other than a couple of episodes of Casualty, barely anyone recognizes him anymore and she’s been having to support him ever since.

Yeah, MIL was household name in the 80's...barely gets recognised now and lives a quiet life in small semi detached house ( money runs out when work stops).

She gets the occasional acting job and advert, and actors don't have a retirement age, so you never know - might be 'big' again one day!

You op in my head take your blokes legendary status all in your stride. As I picture you know you have a blond beehive haircut ,black tights and white slingbacks sat at his side eating a potted meat sandwhich out of tinfoil you made at home to bring with you, desperately struggling to undo a thermos flask of coffee.. either way fame is a fickle thing as a warning, please be aware school halls with Dave the dawg today (the dizzying heights I know!) next week the care home christmas party! How will you both come with the stardom I do not know..just enjoy it for now and make sure those pesky kids don;t spill blackcurrant juice on his decks....Shabba!

I'd give you loads of juicy details OP, but I wouldn't like to make you feel bad about your clear attempt at a brag. I mean local discos, WOWZERS!

I remember being in year 9 and was staying at a friends house watching crime watch and her brother appeared on there and he was sat on the sofa next to us.

everyone in the house just went silent.

he did his time in the end.

Awkward 🤣

I was on an episode of 80s TV show 'Why don't you?'

My SIL was on 'Cheggars plays pop'

Oh my God it’s so annoying isn’t it. My husband is also a little famous. He’s the local Headteacher. Everywhere we go we have kids chasing us down the street “Mr Johnson……. Look it’s Mr Johnson……. Hello Mr Johnson!”

Same here. We can’t go out for a meal anywhere vaguely local without an ex pupil serving us or waving at him through the window. Sometimes both! Tough times

I think it’s just tucked away on a bookshelf.

Ah ok. A good friend of mine is friends with an Oscar winner who keeps it in the toilet.

Your weren’t the Numbertaker were you? My DC was scared of him and I did wonder why they styled a character in the manner of an undertaker for a CBeebies show!!

No I wasn’t!
I was in the episode where the colours disappear. Not the weird spoon thing though 😂 but one of the people who needed help from the numberjacks.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/03/2024 07:44

Oh my goodness @MotherOfUnicorns4! 😯

Cattyisbatty · 30/03/2024 07:26

I have also held a BAFTA - belonging another old friend’s husband who has become much more famous since we first met them over 20 years ago (although I’m not in touch with the friend now they are again v nice and unassuming people and live in a regular house in a decent area.

I remember asking her what her dh did and she told me he was an actor - I’d never heard of him and felt a bit bad - now he’s achieved very well.

MotherOfUnicorns4 · 30/03/2024 07:24

My late DSis was on a documentary called 40 minutes in the 80s. I was also in some of the clips so does that make me famous?
My not so DB is also on a couple of documentaries as he’s an infamous mass murderer. Luckily no one knows I’m related to him so for that I count my lucky stars!

I’ve got a really fucking annoying husband.
So annoying he could be famous for it.

😂 🤣

I was in Numberjacks and the episode still airs every now and again! Luckily my fans know how to control themselves around me and don’t bring too much attention when they see me out and about.

Essentially fame of any kind isn't a guarantee of how much you are truly liked as a person. How many of us have met our 'hero's' only to discover we dont actually 'like'them at all. I know someone who has alot of fame and they are very unpleasant and I avoid them at all costs.

Absolutely! I know two people who, when they were children, met famous people - one met Jimmy Saville and the other met Rolf Harris (obviously in the era before either characters true colours emerged) Both children had been excited about the prospect of meeting someone famous and both were disappointed. In fact the child who met Jimmy Saville told her mother afterwards that he was "not nice". This was when he was at the height of his fame (she was in a large group of girl guides who were invited to watch him film a programme in a studio in London)

WillJeSuis · 30/03/2024 07:21

My husband was once almost interviewed on Spotlight news but it ended up falling through. He told me early on in our relationship. I stayed. It's hard sometimes but we deal.

Pipsquiggle · 30/03/2024 07:17

There are quite a few very famous people where I live - show biz actors and presenters mainly.
If they are out and about, we just ignore them. The only times we would have a chat is if we were both walking our dogs and they were playing/ doing zoomies together so we would talk about our dogs, the weather etc. As you would with any fellow dog walker

Tell us more!

too outing .. however let's just say there's an A list famous person who doesn't like DP very much.. even though i dint think they've ever even met

AmytheDancingBrick · 30/03/2024 07:16

I spent time as a prop on the Muppets. My husband gives me little credit for it…

Cattyisbatty · 30/03/2024 07:14

I did briefly work with someone whose husband is very famous and very recognisable - he is a v quiet, unassuming man (I met him once at their house) and they live a quiet life. I think he tries to disguise a bit when they go out, with a baseball cap etc. although I am often in their area and never see him around (and it’s the sort of area you’d go for coffee etc).

Londonrach1 · 30/03/2024 07:11

My dd and all her class just done a sponsored bunny event in aid of the school playground...does that mean she's famous.

InfiniteGoodVibes · 30/03/2024 07:08

I am pretty sure nobody cares who your husband is but I must say you both sound pretty awful.

You for 'fuming' so much over a mum wanting to do something different that you feel like calling her a c**t. What low level, awful behaviour. Embarrassed for you, alongside your 2 cringeworthy posts.

Your DH for charging to dj at a school disco. If your claims of his earnings are true, who the hell cares to 'cover' their expenses for their kids school leaving party.

Ugh, the pair of you.
