The dad I know who’s a promoter for club DJs whenever he played music for his DD’s parties (they always wanted to go out as they got older) always played the random pop stuff they were into. He said they laughed at him if he tried anything more “club” style though they did like Evacuate the Dancefloor and a few Basement Jaxx tracks.

I’m also desperate to know (because I have nothing better to ponder on this morning) whether he is planning to do his usual 90s/festival set for all the 11 year olds?

Or is he going to play Gangnam Style and the Cha Cha Slide, line up the kids for a Conga and throw sweets in the crowd for the best dancers?

There are no costs he’d have to cover! The most it might be is an insurance premium (which he should have anyway) in case of damage. But all he’s doing is playing at a school. If he’s really tight and needs the money he’d charge for leccy (electricity). Transport, he’d transport decks and records or computer equipment (laptop) in a car. All of this should be covered in his usual insurance.

Genuine question - what costs does he need the 11 year old children to cover? Surely he has all the DJ equipment already? And his own child’s school must be located within a few miles of your home? What does the £200 cover?

My guess is that the other cunt parent who suggested a cinema trip instead of the disco is flabbergasted that a Europe wide super famous DJ making thousands for his impressive DJing wants to charge his child’s classmates £200 to be in the presence of his super stardom.

No, not him. I get the impression there are quite a lot like him. It’s a fairly common way for once successful actors and those who’ve been in the public eye more generally to end up. Fame doesn’t last a full career for many people. Even if they continue to be recognized, after a time people’s first thought will often become, ‘Crikey, he looks A LOT older than when he was on telly!!’ I must confess even I sometimes think this about my friend’s DH. If you were well-known in your 20s and 30s, people will always remember you that way and can end up doing a double-take when they catch a glimpse of you in your 50s.

Based on her other thread I sort of think I believe her. In fact I hope she’s not the F1 person I know (very glam, used to come to meetings in a black fedora) because she was really nice. Sounds as though someone says she’s riding on her DH’s coat tails.
