If you are overweight now do you think your partner still finds you attractive?

So I know this seems an odd question but I've been thinking today. I found some old texts and a few naughty pics between my husband and me and looking at my old body I feel so fat. I am overweight (size 14-16) from a 10/12. I looked so good and now I really don't. Can anyone relate? Do you think you're still attractive/ as attractive? Im nearly 40 and I just think he can't fancy me at all.

I know it's not quite the same, but I'm single and dating and I cannot have sex if I am anything above my optimal size which is UK size 6-8 (I'm petite).

If I've had an indulgent week and my weight is up 1-2kg, which can happen after a work trip (restaurant meals 3x a day and way too much wine...), and I happen to be dating a guy then I will postpone a date until I have lost the excess weight.

Being thin and toned is very, very important to me.

CydonianKnight · 18/12/2024 02:58

No probably not. He would never say. But then there are things that as we have grown older we probably both wouldn’t find attractive but attraction isn’t the main factor for us.

Redgreenred10 · 18/12/2024 02:48

I am a size 16 and he still finds me attractive. He is 15 stone and I still find him attractive. He has the most amazing come to bed with me eyes and smile.

he loves my big boobs and nice bum.

RestYeMerryGentlewomen · 18/12/2024 02:38

I think it probably varies and as ever is different for different people, plus a dress size or two isn’t such a huge difference.

Well most of us tell a few white lies sometimes so who knows.

I was a size 8 and am now a 10 to 12. DH is exactly the same size, I know because he has jeans that are close to 30 years old.

OldGreyBoots · 18/12/2024 01:29

I met DP at a size 14, I've been a size 20 and I'm back on the way down at the moment. I've never noticed any difference in how attracted he is to me, as others have said I think the biggest factor is my own attitude/enthusiasm Grin

Dogsnknitting · 18/12/2024 01:24

No. She says it doesn’t matter but the fact she’s dangerously thin and prizes this above much else in life suggests it’s actually an issue.

Buttercup198 · 18/12/2024 00:56

I'm a 16 now was 12 when met dh he's always been skinny he's a medium very skinny and tall I always felt fat around him but we have a amazing sex life a amazing relationship been together 8 years and still can't keep our hands off each other he is my bestie in every single way

Sezanne · 08/03/2024 17:09

I often think sex drive has more to do with how YOU feel than how the other person feels. When I feel good, I feel sexy, I'm not thinking as much about my DH as I am about my own headspace. Same for DH, when he's been running and working out and feels good, he's more up for it, I don't think he's thinking of me any differently if I'm thinner or bigger.

So, no 1, you need to feel attractive yourself, and if that's thinner then that's fine.

Personally I don't like feeling bigger and I don't think I'd find my dh attractive if he got significantly larger. But my feelings about weight are FUCKED from being a teen in the 2000's so I'm maybe not representative of how many people feel.

I'm a 12-14 and I'm overweight.

FGS I get the message!!

I will never ever say that 12-14 isn't overweight ever again

BookishBabe · 07/03/2024 06:28

I've went from a size 14 (it did suit me, I'm quite tall and it was mostly in my ass). Even being that size took constant walking and very, very restrictive eating.
I'm now a size size 24, lots of reasons including 2 kids and some health issue. DH actually prefers me fat, snuggles my belly, squeezes my rolls and tells me how sexy and fat I am.
I think I'm disgusting, but I'm glad my husband still fancies and wants me.

Babla · 06/03/2024 13:56

a size 12/14.

This isn't overweight

I'm a 12-14 and I'm overweight.

Babla · 07/03/2024 01:05

An average or short women is highly likely to be OW at a size 14. You're arguing the wrong point. The argument should be that it's perfectly possible to be both OW and attractive and that OW does not equal ugly. Claiming that people who say they are OW are not really OW just confirms the idea that's its a shameful thing that we should pretend not to be. It's also very unhelpful to women who are even larger and unquestionably OW. You're OK at size 14 because you're not really OW. But if you were size 18....
OP, if your partner didn't find you attractive, you'd likeky know about it. Your weight is just one aspect of your overall appearance and having a bit more of it doesn't stop you being gorgeous.

Calm down

It can be depending on your height

Im just 5ft and im overweight when im a size 12/14

I’m 5’10 and look my best at 12/14

No, he absolutely doesn't. However, I think it was more my pregnancy that put him off, which led to me feeling inadequate and insecure, which led to binge eating, which led to more weight gain, so it's been a downward spiral. DC is almost 10 now and I'm resigned to being overweight and ugly till he leaves me.

Wtf? You have some agency here too. Are you happy? If not, change things yourself instead of waiting passively.

hellsBells246 · 06/03/2024 22:43

Oops, posted too soon.

I think that love and sex in a LTR is also about your shared life and how much you like the person as well as how much they look like a stud. There's much more that goes into physical attraction than looks!

hellsBells246 · 06/03/2024 22:41

I'm a size 18. We have been together 28 years and I was a size 12 to start with.

Dh honestly finds me just as attractive and can't keep his hands off me. I KNOW I've put on weight and I'm a bit 🤔 but he really goes feel like that so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pearlyclouds · 06/03/2024 22:12

I'm a size 18 now and when me and DH got together I was a 8/10.
I've given birth to 3 of his kids in this time.
I'd like to lose some weight and feel healthier tbh and hopefully I will in time (have a newborn at the moment)
I do personally think there's no way he could find me as attractive as he did when he met me... but he has never given any hint of this and never made any negative comment on my appearance. He's still physically affectionate and we still have sex etc...
I don't personally feel as 'fanciable' but I trust that he loves me and I love him. I know that were he to put on a bit of weight I'd still be attracted to him and I'd still love him.
I mean neither of us are as objectively hot as we may have been in our twenties but that's the man I love and I think I'll always find him attractive regardless of his appearance.

Same, but husband still cant take his hands off me 😅

I mean we met when we were young, i was 17, now 38 and 3 children later and im a size 12/14.

I can honestly say he doesn't care either way, i do fluctuate and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

He fluctuates also and i really dont fancy him any more/less when he does.

Love this ❤️

What a silly, goady generalisation. Lots of people prefer a curvier figure, it’s just personal taste.

I said excess, unhealthy fat. Not curves.

Still just personal taste.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 06/03/2024 19:26

Oh gosh this is something I think about a lot. I’ve put on 2.5 stone since my cancer treatment and I’m sure my partner can’t possibly fancy me any more 🙁

You have the biggest excuse and I’m sure he is so thankful he still has you ❤️

Tisfortired · 06/03/2024 20:58

I am 2 sizes bigger than I was when I met him. I am also 16 years older and 2 kids later. I believe him when he says he still fancies me but a lot of it is a confidence thing. If I was moaning all day long about how ugly and fat I am for example surely that is somewhat unattractive. I try to dress in my own usual style and look after myself whatever size I am.

He is about 2 stone heavier than when we first met and I still fancy him. In fact probably more so!

Newsenmum · 06/03/2024 20:58

Selena Gomez has put on lots of weight recently (compared to how she used to be - tiny!) and she is still absolutely gorgeous. There are much bigger women who are gorgeous too. Like Alicia Mccarvell.

Newsenmum · 06/03/2024 20:56

In answer to your op, yes I do worry. I look back and I was really slim and pretty! But he loves me and I’ve curved out everywhere. The key is confidence and dressing well for you. Dh has aged too. How about yours?

Act Like you feel gorgeous and sexy and look up to beautiful women of that size/weight who wear great clothes.
