Annoyed by random man incidents

Yes it’s not much in the scheme of things but I’m becoming increasingly annoyed by men in public (I’m sure women do these things too but 90% of the time it’s men in my experience).

Only today I was paying at the self service in Tesco, had the baby (in pram) and 4 year old with me. 6 checkouts, every other checkout was free. The second I tapped my card this man barged between me and the checkout I had used and started scanning his shopping, leaving me flustered as I gathered up my shopping and tried to pack it away while moving the pram and my other child away. The way it happened he’d clearly been waiting to do it, although why I have no idea.

Second occasion we were stood in another shop, a very big tall man comes round the corner of the aisle and rather than wait the split second for me to pull DD towards me so he could pass (was already doing this) he barged past her and almost knocked her over shouting ‘SORRY, SORRY’.

Gah. Yes it all sounds a bit petty written out but I’ve got PMT and have had a few of these incidences lately and am fed up.

I get so fed up with aggressive tailgating men on the roads and big lumbering clumsy men in a lot of other places. So many of them have no sense of personal space.

YANBU - I've had the exact same thing happen to me both today and yesterday. Both times were men barging into my space when they could have used a different self serve check out because there were loads free.

Are men just getting more aggressive?

I pulled off a roundabout and because I got in front of this guy he tailgated me all the way up a main road for a mile or so . I didn't pull out in front of him there was plenty of room behind me . It was early in the morning so the roads were quiet .

Happens fairly regularly to me too. Yesterday took the kids to an attraction, we're standing in the queue for our time slot and some random man tries to barge past me to get to the ticket person faster. WHY do they do this sort of shit? Also the gym I've only ever had men come up to me to comment in the middle of sets, or interrupt to 'ask' how long I'll be whilst lurking slightly too close to me. Obviously I take longer when this happens Grin

...or offering unsolicited advice on your form during your sets 🙄. They don't do it to other men, in my experience.

DD had a man invite himself to join her table on a train last week. She was at least with friends. He kept forcing himself into their conversation and she said she felt bad ignoring him incase he was disabled. He was drunk after the football more like. I explained to her that a disability doesn’t give someone the right to make her uncomfortable. But she looked unconvinced. “Be kind” has been drilled into her friends at school. Thankfully a woman on the train intervened to tell him to leave them alone, and he did. And thankfully I’m now old and frumpy enough that it doesn’t happen to me anymore.

Can't see people 1 foot below you? 🤣🤣 fucking hell, I hope you don't have kids. Poor buggers will be trampled.

Maybe you were below his field of vision? I'm 6'1” and sometimes find myself bumping into short people (e.g. 5 foot).

😂😂😂

You need to see a doctor if being a little bit tall affects your peripheral vision so badly that you're going through life bumping into anything and anyone under 5 foot.

I had something like this yesterday in a supermarket - all self-checkouts busy but two became free together.

Tall random man behind me with a primary age child marches forward saying “There’s one come free” and barges into me (small, but wearing a hi viz jacket as I’d just come from the stables). He did apologise but we then moved forward together aiming for the two different pay points.

So, he either barged me because I was small, or because I was wearing hi viz and he might have thought I was staff. Either in my view is unacceptable.
