Zok · 29/01/2024 14:16

Without being nagged

I’ve wondered if he could be on the spectrum
doesnt remember to pick up his clothes after a bath either
or remove hairs from the sink after shaving moustache

I myself have Aspergers but it’s been 9 years off and on reminding

We don't even have a toilet brush! (Not because I have a particular problem with them, they are rather handy but also complete cesspits!) just squirt some bleach down there.

Also, not picking up clothes, or washing hairs away from the sink? This is completely normal male behaviour! I assume you don't also have sons or you'd be complaining about the wee all over the toilet seat and floor too. I wish you all the luck in the world in getting him to change!

This does not have to be ‘completely normal male behaviour’. A male guest got piss on the floor of our bathroom once and my DH was apoplectic. I hope you tell your sons to clean up after themselves? Or they’ll never learn and continue with the same disgusting behaviour with their future partners.

Yeah, he's just a slob.

Using bleach is awful for the environment though. I'm team toilet brush!

And terrible for your lungs

As well as sitting ‘in a little pool of shit soup’(!), the bristles also flick microscopic (but still horrid) bits of poo everywhere.

I, for one, cannot get worked up about things that I cant see and are having no discernible impact on anything. But you do you.

Thanks, I will!

bradpittsbathwater · 29/01/2024 23:34

@Greentomatic "shit soup"! Thanks for making me laugh Grin

Walker1178 · 29/01/2024 23:26

DP and I lived together for roughly 2yrs when he questioned why we don’t have a toilet brush. For the record we have one of the toilet duck brushes with disposable heads, it lives in the bathroom cupboard and is used regularly by myself. Not for my poop, it’s most definitely his shit stains that I’m scrubbing off most days.

Is it a recognised thing that men just can’t position themselves correctly on the seat to just not hit the sides? Does anyone on here have a bowl cleaning Beau?!?

I don't see how being a slob is related to autism.

This.

As an Neurodiverse person, I’m really sick of all selfish, lazy or stupid behaviour being attributed to being on the spectrum nowadays. This is why IRL I now don’t tell people as the ‘newer’ diagnosed (often self diagnosed) are usually the worst and display the worst of human behaviours that’s ’not their fault’.

Not using a toilet brush or generally cleaning the toilet after you is just selfish grim behaviour that shows a lack of manners or empathy for the people you share a house with.

Get a silicone one, it won't sit in the poo water and disinfect it when cleaning the toilet with bleach.
Before I had the silicone one, my young toddler threw it down the stairs and it splashed everywhere 💩

Yeah I use the silicon one and disinfect it with bleach and Dettol after each use! I used to use a disposable one with refills but didn’t find those robust enough to clean thoroughly.

Golightly133 · 29/01/2024 23:13

Toilet duck Fresh brush they are made from toilet paper they clean the Loo then you release the pad and flush left with a clean handle in a little holder

betterangels · 29/01/2024 23:09

Life is pretty good as a single woman and definitely so much better than that. I promise.

Lamelie · 29/01/2024 23:09

TheLizardQueen · 29/01/2024 14:56

This is what I use! Each cleaning head is used once then disposed of. Toilet Wand Kit with 48 Refills,... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BHR8SZJ7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Poor planet.
But rather hypocritically I use £1 ikea loo brushes. Replace a couple of times a year, squirt of bleach in them weekly.

Zok · 29/01/2024 22:54

I told him this dirty toilet nonsense better not happen again and he said “is that a threat”

because I asked him to clean my en-suite toilet seat /floor last week whilst I’m recovering from stitches he says I shouldn’t judge what he’s doing in his toilet

Clearly no one else uses the silicone ones apart from me that don't collect any "material" at all.

Your husband is disgusting OP.
He expects you to do it for him like a good little support human.

I kid you not I would divorce a man over that. It's gross.

Mazuslongtoenail · 29/01/2024 14:33

I’d like to know what is the ‘alternative’ is?

Especially as so many people on mumsnet don’t use toilet brushes.

As well as sitting ‘in a little pool of shit soup’(!), the bristles also flick microscopic (but still horrid) bits of poo everywhere. I use a tightly twisted wad of paper to clean above the water line, flush (lid shut, of course) then put 2/3 squirts of Flash (with bleach) in the water. Just leave it and, as if by magic, all traces of poo disappear without any brushing.

Zok · 29/01/2024 22:45

Baking soda and vinegar is better than bleach

OP posts:
Mum2jenny · 29/01/2024 22:39

I loathe toilet brushes and if I found one in the loo I’d throw it out. My DH says they are good, but does he use one effectively, just no. So they will never reside in a home I live in.

Nchanged89 · 29/01/2024 22:39

Zok · 29/01/2024 22:36

He uses this Turkish hose thing to clean himself and that probably splashes poo everywhere it’s like all over toilet bowl gross

Leave him then.

I've never understood why mumsnetters - queens of cleaning - can't figure out how to clean a loo brush.

Its really easy

Anyway, sounds like this is the least of your problems

Pootle40 · 29/01/2024 21:58

I hear your pain OP. Mine is the same but leaves it to the point it dries to the toilet bowl. I ask why he doesn't immediately look/check after flushing.

C00k · 29/01/2024 21:55

Your other threads are shocking. This is an arranged marriage and you went to the police about the man in December but sadly retracted it. If you don’t want better for yourself, at least do better for your kids.
You’re focussing on petty nonsense, don’t.
Go back to the police.

allthevitamins · 29/01/2024 21:49

"Fucksake Dave, will you open the window and give the loo a good scrub after you've done a shit... it's disgusting"

That should do it, no?

betterangels · 29/01/2024 20:46

He's just a lazy, grim bastard. Don't insult people on the spectrum.
