bit obscure but cld you talk to me about your interior doors?

I'm looking for inspiration for interior doors and door handles. Googling of interiors and doors hasn't got me anywhere.

There seems to be a fashion for cross and bible type panel doors in white. I don't mind the look of them but I don't want panels with "ledges' because they will collect dust. Which then leaves a flat door - which is a bit boring. I also dont like vertical grooved doors because they make me think of farm houses.

I don't want anything with glass in for safety.

I don't like round ball handles or those curvy lever ones, I don't mind a straight hand but it's hard to find a nice one that doesn't look like an office.

Totally drawing a blank. Does a stylish flat or non-dust collecting ledged door exist?

Anyone done interior door selection or replacement recently? Any ideas? Comments on wood or painted white? Any mistakes you've learnt lessons from?

I can't seem to find anything I like...

We have the white version of what has been posted - they don't collect dust!

Nothing helpful to say but I didn't know a 6 panel door was called and cross and bible door! I have them in the my house and really dislike the 6 panels in comparison to 4 which seems much classier and 2 less ledges to gather dust, if that's a concern. I have to say I've lived here for 5 years and could probably count on one hand the number of times I've needed to dust the ledges. Although that may say more about my cleanliness standards than anything else.

What age is you home? I think they need to match. For example I love the 1950 style with one big square panel above three tall narrow ones, but they'd look weird in a modern house.

@TheBeesKnee no it's the opposite of modern.

The existing doors are dark walnut and need to be replaced as very battered and I think they are too dark.

Love our doors but you’re right on the ledges, it’s ridiculous the build up of dust on them! (Not sure what percentage of the population have to actually clean their doors but we do here!!)

Sorry haven't read the full thread but have you tried Instagram/ Pinterest?
I have a relatively arty feed so when I look for stuff like this it does throw up more arty / architecture-y stuff

@Makeitmakesensetoday that looks nice. I don't like the wood (bit office coloured!) but the pattern looks good - a bit different and stylish. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Any other suggestions

I think they do collect dust. I have doors like that where I work (panels) and they get dusty round the inset ledges of the panels

@MasterBeth I also don't like the look of interior glass doors either but I think even safety glass isn't great if you have small people running.

I'm really struggling because like I said interior magazines and good are no help. Everywhere seems to have either white painted cross and bible panel doors or flat aparment type cheap hotel doors

Our front door has toughened and acoustic glass. You'd have to have a really very strong determined kid to break through it ideally with a hammer.

Painted white doors are usually just an undercoat type paint and will mark really easily. So need another layer or 2 of gloss paint to make them stand up to the practicalities of daily life.

I basically have a combination of all the doors and handles you don't like.

They're oak doors, they don't look like office doors. Yes they might get dusty at work because it won't be cleaned regularly and is way more dusty than a normal family home. Look through Howdens, they have loads to choose from. Also you're wrong about glass doors, we have full length glass doors with oak edges in our home and we have 2 small kids with no issue. The glass is incredibly tough. Also you're kind of infuriating asking for help then comparing everything to an office. On you go to Pinterest.

We just have standard 6 panel doors. I don't notice a huge amount of dust?

Our handles are slightly curved chrome ones.

I honestly never think about the doors now, but I also dithered for ages trying to pick the right one.

I'm not a fan of totally flat ones because they just look like something from a cheap hotel.

Glass doors aren't unsafe. It's safety glass.
