To never ever buy from Snag again?

I'm just beyond disgusted and feel I need to vent.

I've always liked snag tights. I bought vouchers to save them in Lockdown, have spent hundreds with them. Liked their products and ethos- inclusive and female led.

Yesterday I went on their website, can definitely say it's my fault that I clicked on their NSFW collection, but I didn't expect what I found. Patches saying ' chke me' and 'cMSL*t'. Maybe I'm just a pearl clutching prude but I found these really offensive and not what I expect from a company with their ethos. I've put a pic below.

I posted in their Facebook group which I'm on highlighting that I thought this was a misjudgement on their part, that these were very misogynistic, and fed into a culture of violence against women which claims the life of a woman or girl every 11 minutes.

They declined my post and sent me a reply which I'll attach- I'm kink shaming apparently.

I find this really reprehensible and never want to spend a penny with them again!

I never thought I was prudish, whatever adults do between themselves is up to them, but I don't really want to buy from a clothing provider who is promoting this- aibu!?

Absolutely vile

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/01/2024 22:07

Better tights are excellent. I've got two pairs of black opaques that i wash constantly and wear at least twice a week each, and I've had them for over a year. They fit brilliantly, sizing great, and they haven't laddered in that time. They've also got lots of fun styles like Snag.

fatphalange · 19/01/2024 13:03

Sickening. Thanks for the heads up, OP. Would never buy from them again.

i cant find that stuff anywhere on their website?

Grimchmas · 19/01/2024 11:43

I've never boughtt from Snag but am often tempted to try to overcome my dislike of their anti-woman trans advertising policies because I liked the look of their stuff and I'm others ideal target market for them.

I'm absolutely revolted by those patches and feel cured of any remaining desire to give snag a go. Thanks to those who have posted alternatives.

The fact that I'm not exactly anti-kink yet think this is way too far is not lost on me.

Disgusting misogynistic woman haters. There you go Snag, I've just given you your next fun patch design. I hope you choke on it 😏

I get that some people are fine with the whole strangulation thing. I don't get why but I guess if we assume that a lot of the women who "consent" to it are really into it, it makes it seem like nothing more than a kink on the BDSM side of the whole sex thing. Do I think it is? Nope. It's been normalised by porn and - I think very dangerously - been moved out of pure BDSM where there is all manner of safety going on and the sub is more important than the dom - to "normal" sex. It isn't normal, it's far from some universal "kink", it's porn degrading women, men thinking, or not caring, that it's normal to degrade women and a lot of women being told that it is normal and young women in particular feeling that if they object then they're a prude or too vanilla. Personally, I don't think there's a damned thing wrong in a bit of vanilla sex.

Cum Slut. Is there any way in which this is impowering and not just deeply degrading? Thought not.

This was on a different website but as the OP said, she happened upon it via their social media and went to have a look expecting super sex undies and finding these shitty things. Would most of us have found them? Probably not but I'm glad she told us about them because I seriously don't want to buy from a company that thinks that this sort of stuff is okay and that to have a problem with it is to kink shame. That's the attitude of a lot of men who tell women who don't want to be strangled. "Oh my god, you're so uptight!" Fuck that shit. I'm also glad that this thread has led me to other decent tights sellers. As soon as I find the perfect pair of tomato red tights my life will be complete.

This. Honestly it really suits some people to think we're all pearl clutchers. But so much of what is now run of the mill porn used to be the preserve of specific communities. They were problematic because so many people involved were profoundly traumatised BUT the better ones did attempt to set ground rules that kept people safe.

A drunk 20 year old lad deciding to reenact his last porn watch with his equally drunk 20 year old girlfriend ('because it's normal') is a disaster waiting to happen.

Peacelily001 · 19/01/2024 09:28

Thanks for this thread OP.
I was considering buying a couple of their bras (and have bought from them in the past). Not any more.
The Tattle thread mentioned is a real eye opener too Sad

This is exactly how I feel about it. (apart from the tomato red tights, I want purple)
Fuck Snag, I have unsubscribed from their mailing list and will not be buying from them again.

Does anyone have another brand of tights to recommend that come in a variety of sizes/ colours?

Popsy have the best colour range I've found.

But I've not found anyone other that snag who's tights aren't too long for me.

Mybumlooksbig · 19/01/2024 07:13

I may be over sensitive to this as someone close to me had their life ruined my a man being sexually violent towards them inc choking but this has made me want to cry in all honesty. 😪

HouthiAndTheBlowJob · 19/01/2024 00:20

They have lost me as a customer. It’s grim. I am sure they don’t care about my custom, but alternative tight companies will.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/01/2024 00:07

neverbeenskiing · 18/01/2024 19:30

So you think a woman shouldn't be able to lawfully consent to choking during sex, because even if she says she consents there is a chance she could potentially have been coerced? You could apply this to any and all forms of sexual activity. If you were to criminalise every consensual sex act that women could potentially be manipulated, pressured or forced into or that could potentially be physically harmful if someone takes it to the extreme there would be nothing left!

I enjoy a firm hand on my neck during sex, like a lot of people of both genders. Does that mean that if my DH places his hand firmly on my neck, with my full consent, you think he should be criminalised because he could potentially squeeze too hard? Or because even if I'm adamant I consented, I might have been coerced into saying that? We can't arrest and lock people up for things we think they might do.

I think it's a good job we can't consent to being shot in the head.

You do you obviously but giving a man such power over you when he could kill you is an odd one for me. I hope he doesn't do that. You won't be alive to tell the tale if he does.

TheCheerfulNihilist · 18/01/2024 21:31

Snag tights, along with Modibodi have made it clear that I am no longer their customer market.

No problem, the joy of capitalism means I can skip off and take my money elsewhere, along with the other women in my life I buy for and anyone I chat to about products.

All marketing choices are are valid! 😁

WotNoUserName · 18/01/2024 13:34

Maybe they do. But do they need to advertise to everyone with badges?

Would you want your child to ask you what a cum slut was because they'd read it on a badge stuck to someone's bag?

Do what you fucking like in private. I don't need to know about it. I don't care about it. Woohoo, you have sex. So edgy and different. Guess how you were conceived. 🙄

I don’t like the patches! But the OP said how does it work towards smashing the patriarchy, and was the opposite. I was just saying that some would say it is helping do that

Thanks for this reminded me to order some of their bras! They look great

They're not trust me - took three goes for me to get to the right size and they still make my boobs a weird shape with a visible seam. Not one of their hits tbh.

Doesn't the new law make it illegal even with consent because it is not possible to consent to? I thought that was the whole point, to stop the defence of she liked it because even if she did its not possible to consent to any hands on throat.

Totally unworkable in day to day life. Useful for court cases with actual murderers, but won’t make any difference day to day.

We aren't talking about "kinks", we are talking about perversions. Pushing perversion as normal.

It isn’t being pushed on you if you have to go out of your way to find it.

This stuff exists all over the internet- if you don’t go looking for it you don’t have to see it.

Milange · 18/01/2024 20:16

lifeturnsonadime · 18/01/2024 10:34

Do they sell tights for men's bodies and women's bodies and differentiate between them or are women supposed to wear tights designed with the male body in mind? If they are unisex I'd be worried that they wouldn't fit my female body properly.

I do wish this gender thing would go away to be honest as it seems a bit of a stick to beat women with in any context. The fact that men are invading our spaces has led to questions like 'there is nothing wrong with men wearing tights'. For the main there isn't, but if it impacts on the way that clothes are designed so that they no longer fit women properly then potentially that, and the fact that we know some men like to wear women's clothing for sexual gratification etc (which is fine so long as we are not forced to participate in it). The choke stuff is just vile. I don't care if that's kink shaming, violence against women should not be normalised.

They are just normal tights, except they fit better and are more comfortable than any I have worn. I’ve worn them when I’m thin and when I’ve been morbidly obese, and they fit perfectly.

Obviously everyone is a different shape though, so other people might find differently.

There isn’t anything wrong with men wearing tights.
