My friend has his own shop where everything is hand made , he makes his own products and stocks hand made products for others as a collective,

He's just text me in a panic , a little old lady came in and bought these .....

He's now worrying in case it's the grandsons xmas present

I think xmas day could be interesting in one house in the north of England 😂🙈

Why do some people think older people are so naive?

And so little?!

I was in hospital recently and a lady in her 70s next to me had some of the nurses squealing at her: "What was the war like for you, luvvie?" in an effort to make conversation.
She wasn't bloody born.

My "little old lady" Mum (also a granny) bought a rubber stamp that read "bullshit" so she could amuse herself by stamping it on nonsense paperwork.

From Amazon?
Just asking for an ‘old’ friend 🙄

I love this! I think I need one and I might buy my mum one too 😂

Why do some people think older people are so naive? I doubt there are many Victorian thinking peeps alive. But even Vic and Al apparently had their moments.
My in laws [in their 80's] enjoyed 'Lady Chatterley's lover' when they saw it on dvd a few years back. Apparently it reminded them of their own outdoor adventures, when they were young!😆

Ididivfama · 27/10/2023 16:57

This is hilarious!!

Most elderly women do not want to buy anus joke socks for children in their lives.

You know that little old ladies in their 80s lived their 20s in the 60s. They aren’t Victorians who are going to have heart failure the mention of bums.

Haffiana · 27/10/2023 16:54

Yes it is true.

When you get to 80 you COMPLETELY FORGET what an anus is. It as if you have lived for 80 WHOLE FUCKING YEARS without ever knowing what an anus is, what a joke is, and you need it to be teensplained to you.

I used to manage two sheltered housing developments.
A couple of the "little old ladies" came to my office to ask if they could host an Anne Summers party in the communal lounge.
I said, fine, no problem.
One says to the other - "do you think many people will come?"
The other replies (without batting an eyelid) "Well thats the point hen!"
They were 80 and 82.

Also had one who came to tell me her ceiling extractor was on the fritz and making a terrible clatter. I went round with my step ladder, and while I was there discovered a vibrator buzzing away in a shoe box on top of a kitchen cabinet.
OH! Says tenant, my boyfriend must've put that up there when he tidied the kitchen earlier, ha ha ha.
Mid 70s, and the "boyfriend" was nearly 80.

I dont think your friend should worry, she 95% knew exactly what she was doing.

Sunshineclouds11 · 27/10/2023 16:51

She could have well understood the joke

towriteyoumustlive · 27/10/2023 16:51

My FIL bought bought himself a Christmas jumper to wear. He didn't even notice that the reindeer pattern was actually of shagging reindeer! He'd even worn it to an old peoples lunch thing the day before 😂

If it's the grandson's Christmas present then it will generate some hilarious future Christmas memories! Perhaps it will even start a trend and the poor boy will be bought Uranus presents every year for the rest of his life!

RubyBoozeDay · 27/10/2023 16:51

If your little old lady is in her 80's or even 90's, I'm sure she understand the joke.

My friend feels guilty because he feels like he should have explained the joke which suggested she didn't get it .

Patronising attitude.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/10/2023 16:46

That's the sort of thing DPs grandmother would have bought him. She presented as a stereotypical 'little old lady' but for some reason they had an in joke where every card she sent him was absolutely filthy. It was hilarious.

Sounds like something my grandma would do. I'll let you know if they turn up at Xmas

Cinateel · 27/10/2023 16:44

My husband (79) and I (74) often laugh about what young people would think if they could hear our conversations when we are at home alone. You have to remember that "little old lady" was probably a teenager in the sixties. It's unlikely she's as innocent and naive as she looks

capabilityfrowns · 27/10/2023 16:43

she was an archetypal little old lady , why the snottiness? I talking about a woman in her 80 s not a woman in her 50s ! A stereotypical "granny. "You know like that bloke puts a wig on and pretends to be in mrs browns boys when it's apparently funny

She might be into rimming yes. In fact I'm sure that must be why she bought them .

My mistake .

Perhaps the ‘little old lady’ bought this for her lover?

My Mum bought a headscarf when she had cancer, proudly wore it all round town until she saw my sister who said, Mum, do know that the print is canabis leaf? My Mum found this hilarious, had no idea but it didn't stop her wearing it. She was a lovely mischievous woman.
