My friend has his own shop where everything is hand made , he makes his own products and stocks hand made products for others as a collective,

He's just text me in a panic , a little old lady came in and bought these .....

He's now worrying in case it's the grandsons xmas present

I think xmas day could be interesting in one house in the north of England 😂🙈

My DM bought my SIL a mug for Christmas, which said "Lady Gardener". I didn't have the heart to explain it to her.

I don't get it Blush isn't Lady Gardener a type of Rose?

EarringsandLipstick · 27/10/2023 20:29

She then told me 'I bet you didn't know I used to wear American knickers during the war' (err no!). 'Yeah - One yank and they were off'

Brilliant!

We visited a tourist attraction called the Cerne Giant that is a large chalk outline of a giant holding a club.

To be fair, I don't think it's his big club that most people focus on...

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 27/10/2023 20:23

Um am I the only one person to reply who can conceive of a 90 year old woman not noticing that it says ur-anus rather than Uranus?

There's not really any need to separate it to 'ur-anus' - the joke is obvious to everybody without that.

It's not even like it's one of the more popular planets that attracts the fans, such as your Marses, your Venuses or your Saturns; the only single thing it has going for it, that anybody cares about, is that it has a funny rude name.

Oochiewalla · 27/10/2023 20:20

We visited a tourist attraction called the Cerne Giant that is a large chalk outline of a giant holding a club. My Nan proceeded to try and buy 8 year old me some knickers which had a picture of said giant and was captioned “I like a big one” 🙈

depends if you believe in hell

Bentoforthehorde · 27/10/2023 20:10

Thanks OP this website is great! I'm from Yorkshire but not seen the shop before. Amazing.

katseyes7 · 27/10/2023 19:51

I visited a sheltered housing estate recently, very nicely kept, the residents had all done their little bits of garden beautifully.
It cracked me up when l saw a sign outside one house which said 'Miserable Old Twat Lives Here' and another one said 'Welcome! Now Fuck Off.'

I reckon l'd fit right in there, l hope so, l'm hoping to move there soon.
I just hope the lady's grandson is old enough to appreciate the gift!

My Mum bought a headscarf when she had cancer, proudly wore it all round town until she saw my sister who said, Mum, do know that the print is canabis leaf? My Mum found this hilarious, had no idea but it didn't stop her wearing it. She was a lovely mischievous woman.

Yep, my nan bought herself a nice warm pair of socks once. Covered in cannabis leaves they were!

They do sell online yes . But I think if I were to link I'd get done .

It's called "our handmade collective " in Leeds if you google you'll find .

Sorry hq if not allowed and just delete the post

You think you'd 'get done'?

All this hyperbole. It's exhausting me.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 27/10/2023 19:45

Your title is making presumptions about religious beliefs which as a non 'hell' believer, I am finding offensive.

Your friend is privileged to run their own business, perhaps a little tone deaf during this cost of living crisis?

Also as this forum is online it isn't inclusive to those who do not have Internet access, which is discrimatory and gives cause for it to be shut down.

Welcome to MN OP.

Your friend is being earthist too.

😂???

Maireas
Of course she knows.

Quite.

And, despite the OP's sophisticated <cough> knowledge of types of anal play, it's unlikely to make anyone think of pegging/rimming/butt plugs etc
It's just a very old, very childish joke that even Ron should have been ashamed of making to Harry at his age.
No evidence that the socks were for a grandson, just the OP's friend's sudden idea and panicky text.
Bit of a failed attempt at Classics, perhaps.

Visiting an old peoples' home 10 years or so ago I got stopped by a lady. She first asked me to give her (toy) dog a biscuit. I gave her one, which she quickly took off me adding, whilst munching it, 'are you stupid? he's a toy'
She then told me 'I bet you didn't know I used to wear American knickers during the war' (err no!). 'Yeah - One yank and they were off' at which point a grinning member of staff rescued me.

😂😂

Who cares if someone calls me a old. Worse things to be called.

Of course it's fine to call someone old! It's conflating it with being unable to get a joke, or fitting a certain stereotype, that's the issue.

Being so silly as to not get that joke - they've even hyphenated the word to make it more obvious! Of course she knows.

RubyBoozeDay · 27/10/2023 19:34

Well if nothing else, you've managed a stealth ad for your friend's shop so hopefully a lot of us old grannies can buy some lewd socks for our grandchildren, ready for Christmas.

Maireas · 27/10/2023 19:34

RubyBoozeDay · 27/10/2023 16:51

If your little old lady is in her 80's or even 90's, I'm sure she understand the joke.

This. It's really very clear!
She probably thinks it's very funny and an amusing gift! He shouldn't worry.

porridgeisbae · 27/10/2023 19:32

Old is better than the alternative.

Why do some people think older people are so naive? I doubt there are many Victorian thinking peeps alive. But even Vic and Al apparently had their moments.
My in laws [in their 80's] enjoyed 'Lady Chatterley's lover' when they saw it on dvd a few years back. Apparently it reminded them of their own outdoor adventures, when they were young!😆

Are your in laws my grandparents?

It's definitely the sort of thing my nan would come out with!

Busydayahead · 27/10/2023 19:27

😂i hope you haven't cut off your fingers OP. Gave me a laugh with the socks. Sorry you are getting a hard time. It was meant to be light hearted and some posters can see the funny side including me.

I am old and I miss the old times where you can have a joke, laugh, have a sense of humour. No harm intended without being accused of ageism, being rude, attitude, etc. I am old. Who cares if someone calls me a old. Worse things to be called.

Back in the nineties, I looked after a lady in her late 90's. She was on my ward in the hospital I worked in. The stories she told us was hilarious. She knew how to live. She was a typical east end Londoner, full of energy, life and soul, full of laughs and got up to things that wouldn't seem possible. She always said, I was young once, dont waste it.

Duckingella · 27/10/2023 19:26

Out of interest does your friend have an online shop???
