No idea what they are but off to Google!

I think what’s depressing is that these are WAY more sexualised than the other looks you mention. They look like a bodysuit an actress would wear so she can do an explicit sex scene without being officially naked.

Things really are going backwards for women.

I agree but women have chosen to objectify themselves so complaints about being objectified shouldn’t be taken seriously.
It’s done to compete with other women as well.

shockwaze · 26/10/2023 06:11

No. What's needed is taste-shaming. Body-shaming refers to the bum under the hideous leggings and no one's bum should be shamed.

The irony of this post!!!!

It's an age thing. we all dislike what the next generation favours.

My mum was young in the fifties /sixties and her mum hated her big skirts and back combed hair . I was young in the seventies/eighties and my parents hated punk styles, permed big hair and shoulder pads. My own kids were young in the noughties and I wasn't crazy about the emo look they favoured.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Siameasy · 26/10/2023 06:03

They’re minging. A mum at the school had a flesh coloured pair of the smooth ones and I defo had a wtf face as you could see the front bottom. Which is deliberate.🤢
Presumably it attracts men?

BridgetsBigPants · 26/10/2023 05:46

🙄 this thread is peak mumsnet and not in a good way. I don't personally like them, so I don't wear them but the ridiculous pearl clutching and over the top ridicule is a joke. Imagine grown women being so concerned with what other women are wearing.

Usernamen · 26/10/2023 05:41

Women choose what to wear.

I have never heard of a gym imposing a uniform of skimpy leggings and crop tops, nor a public beach demanding that women wear a bikini or go topless.

Women are choosing how to dress and wearing what they feel they look good in. It’s not always to my taste, nor to anyone over 25’s taste, but that’s neither here nor there.

You are totally free to believe that. I’ll believe it when I see men‘s clothing designed to draw attention to their anus.

I've seen parades where some of the guys wear bottomless chaps, does that count?

Best you put them on the right way round

On an individual level, I don’t care what women wear. On a societal level, I hate the idea that women’s clothing has morphed to needing to accentuate and draw attention to the anus, like some kind of baboon mating call. There doesn’t seem any such need for men to draw attention to their anus and rounded butt cheeks. We might kid ourselves that wearing what we want is empowering, and our arse exercises more effectively on display, but I hate that so many young women are essentially willing to buy into their own objectification by big corporates.

Women are free to choose to ‘objectify’ themselves and more and more are doing so. It’s incredibly patronising to suggest that they are being manipulated by ‘big corporates’. Plenty of young, hot, heterosexual women thrive off male (and female) attention, and it was ever thus.

Within the ‘big corporates’, most fashion designers, clothes makers, make-up artists, beauty entrepreneurs, and beauty & fashion marketing executives are women. Women are enabling women to sexualise themselves because (most) women derive joy and satisfaction from looking good to the opposite sex (and to other women - I am convinced this is actually a bigger driver!)

ElleCapitaine · 26/10/2023 04:59

They look smelly.

Greyarea12 · 26/10/2023 01:47

They are horrible.

My daughters dad and his wife sent my daughter home wearing them. My daughter is 10. I had a conversation with her about why they were inappropriate, why they should never have been bought and asked her to never wear them again, which she agreed. Them, on the other hand, clearly disturbed.

Omg your poor dd. Sad

Dentistlakes · 26/10/2023 04:37

Not for me, but some women look good in them. They’ve designed to accentuate the current big arse trend. Wouldn’t have worked in my day, we were all terrified of having a big bum back then.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 26/10/2023 04:36

My mil asked me the other day why so many women wear thongs to workout when they only ever cause your leggings to get stuck up your bum. I had to explain to her that it's not the undies to blame and the stuck up the bum look is deliberate!

lokimoki · 26/10/2023 04:22

Oh they are horrible I see them around and think of how much they must smell

MeinKraft · 26/10/2023 03:56

Ohh. There's a woman on my Facebook page who must wear these. She posts pictures of herself at the gym and hiking up mountains but from behind so you can see her bum cheeks in her leggings. I didn't know they existed and wondered how she got that affect!

HazardLights · 26/10/2023 03:47

I think when a new fashion comes along, that is highly sexualized, it’s not surprising that women want to comment on it.

OneMorePlant · 26/10/2023 03:47

I had to google this and first thought it was some meme joke.

It looks like their arse became a black hole that will suck up our solar system starting with their leggings.

Why? Why would you wear these? Or buy these? Or make these? Why?

Peggoty · 26/10/2023 03:26

Nowherenew · 25/10/2023 22:05

Why because I don’t like women being body shamed?

But this isn't body shaming. It's commenting on very ugly clothes.

Tsukiko · 26/10/2023 02:51

I googled this and the images are mostly in gyms, it makes the arse look like a giant ball sack and the torso like a penis shaft. I could see some deep, psychological shit here that I am too tired to take on at the moment Grin

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/10/2023 02:45

No. But, only because I don't have a particularly enviable backside. 😥

BrimfulOfMash · 26/10/2023 02:20

CesareBorgia · 25/10/2023 22:34

You're missing my point - that, whether you would personally wear a bikini or not, most people don't think anything of seeing them worn inn public places - beach, swimming pool, even sunbathing in a park, for example.

What is it about the supermarket, as opposed to any of the above public places, that induces your disgust?

Either we say women (and men) should cover up in all places that are used by the general public, or we don't. There is no logic to saying beach = fine, Sainsburys = unacceptable.

It’s not about the amount of flesh covered or not - these leggings do cover flesh - it’s the exaggerated wrinkled anus effect .

I think the poster who said it reminded them of the Kenny Everett Rod Stewart sketch was spot on!
