They look ridiculous, but I'm sure I wear things others think look ridiculous. So I keep my thoughts to myself!

Gobsmacked.. a lot of women hate Drag for the caricature element, while more and more young women are choosing to do it to themselves anyway.
Exaggerated boobs, hair, lips, bums, its getting ridiculous and quite revolting now, imo!

Yeah...like women dressing as men dressing as women...
I guess it's post- post moderninist fun?

I think most leggings look awful unless worn with something long enough to cover the bum, and the thighs in the case of fatter people. I do not want to see lardy arses, especially in nude shades or thin fabric, thanks.

That's exactly what I saw yesterday when out shopping. A very overweight young woman, short length top and flesh coloured leggings really tightly stretched over her backside were a distraction to say the least.

Dark coloured leggings with a longer length top would have looked so much nicer.

I think they’re awful. But I also think they’re like an updated version of that awful 90s trend for cycling shorts/leggings with a thong over the top in gymwear.

Except that, whereas in the 90s it was all about having a tiny bum, the 2020s fashion for bum shape is massive (but with a tiny waist).

I certainly won’t be wearing scrunch bum leggings. Which is a mercy for everyone who will be looking at me! 😆

Cos you're saying taste-shaming is ok.

Shaming is either ok, or it's not

Your body isn't your choice. Your terrible clothing taste is your choice.

It's not OK to shame someone for having big tits/flat tits/spare tyre/mum tum/etc. It's absolutely OK to laugh if someone thinks that ski pants should be worn anywhere other than a ski slope.

It's the difference between criticising what someone is and what they believe.

shockwaze · 26/10/2023 07:07

I don't believe in the patriarchy by the way

Kindly explain why most sexual assailants are male and most victims are female then. Men feeling entited to women's bodies is the foundation of patriarchy.

Goodornot · 26/10/2023 07:57

Boomboom22 · 26/10/2023 07:53

How can anyone deny the existence of the patriarchy? Its about socialisation of women, who have always been oppressed by their biology. It's not specific named people and if that's conceptually too difficult to grasp maybe leave it to adults to talk about. It's the fact men have more power than women. See primary school playgrounds or watch a lesson. Jeez.

Exactly.

Totally off point maybe but it makes me smirk that the teenage girl yoot of today think they're smashing the patriarchy by dressing how they want by wearing school skirts so short you can see their bum cheeks and scrunch bum leggings, etc

They're actually playing into their hands.

If men did the same: I don't want to see men on the street in the equivalent of swim shorts or bare chests.

Spendonsend · 25/10/2023 20:38

Have you looked in a mirror

They would on me.

LadyBird1973 · 26/10/2023 07:47

Even if you have the most beautiful bum in the world, no one needs to see it at the bus stop!
And while women should obviously have the right to wear whatever they like, it doesn't stop certain things from looking ridiculous. And men shouldn't be condemned for looking - how could you not.
Men shouldn't leer or say anything inappropriate but you can't blame them for noticing or doing a double take - that's a normal reaction to people out in public with what looks like their naked arse on show!

sollenwir · 26/10/2023 07:43

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/10/2023 07:40

I see you and raise you - ski pants.

Do not blacken the memory of my much wanted cerise pink ski pants and electric blue/cerise pink jumper combo in the 1980's.....I won't let you. 😜

sollenwir · 26/10/2023 07:42

PinkRoses1245 · 25/10/2023 22:08

I don’t think anyone looks good in any leggings really.

I disagree, 'normal' (so well made and fitted but not up the crack of your a*) can be fine, especially if worn under something like a shirt dress or a long fitted sweater in the winter, with a pair of boots. They can look essentially like tights. I also have the fleece lined ones, which are much warmer than most of my other trousers in winter but also easier to wash and dry. I am not a fan of tights, due to the feeling on my feet, but leggings or footless tights are a staple in my winter wardrobe. Leggings and a decent length top are fine for exercising too.

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/10/2023 07:40

Brumbies · 26/10/2023 07:37

All leggings are awful . Most ugliest fashion ever.

Restingbitch2 · 26/10/2023 07:36

Laughing to myself at the posts that imply critics of scrunch bum leggings must be frumpy old farts with saggy arses who are purely jealous they can’t wear them. 😆

Even if my arse was like Kylie Minogue’s golden-hotpants-wearing arse of the 90s, it is my opinion that they still look dreadful. They are comically awful. Eg I visited my (very stylish) mum and they cropped up in conversation as she has seen them in her town and was horrified that they were now a thing. She said something like “Have you seen these disgusting new trousers that stick up your arse?” 🙈

Ginmonkeyagain · 26/10/2023 07:36

@retinolalcohol mate, I hate to break it to you but no one looks good in skin tight beige leggings. No one.

These leggings remind me of the stuff you see in niche Brazilian shapewear shops in parts of London with large Latin American communities.

No. What's needed is taste-shaming. Body-shaming refers to the bum under the hideous leggings and no one's bum should be shamed.

The irony of this post!!!!

How is that ironic?

TerfTalking · 26/10/2023 07:16

I’d never heard of these before MN, then I went to the Manchester Half Marathon last week and they were absolutely everywhere. Lots of women bending and stretching at the warm up area, there were too many to avert my eyes.

it was not attractive and I can’t imagine comfortable five sweaty miles in.

Unusualactualname · 26/10/2023 07:16

HazardLights · 26/10/2023 07:10

Wait, did you hear the earth is flat?!

Haha can't be flat 'cos cats would congregate at the edge to knock stuff off.

Timeturnerplease · 26/10/2023 07:13

Returning to the original post….is there not a chafing issue with these? Surely squats etc cause a flossing type effect between the cheeks?

Usernamen · 26/10/2023 07:11

The patriarchy is a bullshit concept to help feminists come to terms with the fact that most women do not share their dull, anti-sex world-view. See also “internalised misogyny”.

Heaven forbid a young, heterosexual woman enjoy and thrive off male attention!
