Elbow Grease degreaser spray is excellent for removing any stains! Found out by accident when I got bolognese stains on my dishcloth and went to wipe the hob! I've tried it on clothes stains too and it works!

I had a Sharpie obsession, (so now I have a huge collection). I only buy brown paper for presents and I decorate it with the Sharpies, flowers, words, hearts, doodles... It gives a more personal touch too! Everyone I've presented with my wrapping paper loves it!

Don't over wet your mop when doing the laminate floors, the water seeps in and will distort the floor over time... Wring out the mop as dry as you can. Or, get a spray bottle that you can turn the end to a fine mist and use some laminate floor cleaner in that and use a dry mop.

I gave up fabric conditioner in favour of the washing beads. Fabulosa do some lovely scents! And they're cheaper than the major brands! Clothes/towels smell a lot nice for longer and don't have the build up. Especially good for towels, as fabric conditioner seems to stop absorbency.

That's my two pennorth for what it's worth!

if you notice clothes smell a bit musty when airing in the house during wet weather, just not fresh, then for a while just put a teaspoon of Napisan powder in the washing machine drawer with each wash. Not with cotton blacks or darks, but with everything else. I can honestly say our clothes, gym stuff and towels dry fresh without that slightly old socks smell!

@cardibach , I've never used it. I can't stand the smell or feel of it.

If you like bees/want to encourage pollinators and eat leeks.

Eat leek.
Plant bottom bit (The white bit that you don't eat).
Leek will eventually flower, a ball of multiple tiny clustered flowers that bees love.

Hob Brite can be hard to find but is dirt cheap and works brilliantly.

Shaving foam on the neck of a white shirt will get make up foundation stains out.

When cleaning windows, work left to right on one side of the pane, top to bottom on the other. Then when you notice the irritating smear that you missed earlier, you won't waste time scrubbing away at the side which doesn't need it.

Tap it with a knife handle until the vacuum pops.

Anything with glitter spray with hairspray.

Can anyone tell me how you actually "drizzle" Marmite ?

I thought the idea of drizzling was a teaspoon full of runny liquid that you would tilt backwards and forwards over the food while moving it around ?

How would that actually work with Marmite, which is so viscous it would just stay in the spoon ?

Also I find the best way to open tight jars (which FTR are not actually "tight" but have lids held strongly in place by a vaccuum) is to insert the end of a small spoon (not the eating end) between the metal lid and the glass and pop the vaccuum. That works pretty well for me. Rather than trying to punch holes in the lid.

To easily peel a boiled egg, empty the pan of water, bounce the egg about then put cold water over it so you don’t singe your fingers , shell comes off much easier

I used to do this when I didn't want the dinner my mum made....until she caught me coming out the bathroom with my dinner plate. I was too embarrassed to say I'd chucked my dinner down the loo so I said I was eating it on the toilet

If you need melted chocolate for a recipe, warm water up in a pan and throw the chocolate in still in its wrapper.

Here’s mine! Advice not advise

I have a Bosch ceramic hob. I tried everything to get the usual marks off such as when a pot boils over (guilty as charged) and burnt bits. Nothing really worked to get the hob back to its shiny self.

So I was very brave one day and used a tiny bit of Brillo pad at the back of one of the rings. I can tell you now that it works brilliantly and it doesn't leave any scratches either. I put a dab of fairy liquid onto the pad and GENTLY rub it over the marks. Wipe off with damp cloth and finish with paper towel. Like new again.

My sister's hob was a mess, despite her trying all the usual stuff, and she is amazed at the result with the Brillo pads.

Try a little corner first, and be brave!

This reminded me of my OH the other day who asked me where a random tool I had never used in my life was. I asked him why he would think I knew where it was I had never seen one before in my life, this seemed to stop him expecting me to jump out of my seat looking for it. 😀

One of the best buys in our house was a ceiling fan that fits into the light bulb socket (also has a light too).

I've put trainers in the freezer before to freshen up. It does work for a bit.

Carpet cleaning foam is crap and leaves a residue. The vanish oxy clothing spray is much better if you have light carpets.

Crisps are more crunchy when cold (still wrapped) from the fridge.
