See it a lot here. People confusing the words lend and borrow. You lend TO someone and you borrow FROM someone. Also using the word lend instead of lent.

BobbyBiscuits · 22/07/2024 02:01

@Sparklesocks @Nicklebox omg, the paper leaflet in the medicine box! I've an irrational hatred of it. I often throw it across the room, haha! Like why can't they put it on one side of the pills, not wrapped round them?!
I have quite a few meds I take each day and I feel like it's an injustice beyond reasonable proportion! 🤣

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 21/07/2024 21:18

People sticking rigidly just under the speed limit but then not fucking indicating when turning. Either you are a big fan of rules or not!

People who drive through the stretch of country lane near us at 30mph that has a national speed limit sign and it’s a road you can comfortably do 50 on.

The fucking ambulance that went past our house last night at 2.30am with its siren blaring. We live a few hundred yards from the ambulance station and our road is one of those roads that you are only on if you live on the estate so no bloody traffic at that time in the morning. Therefore no need for the siren!

DH whistling. No one in the history of the world ever wants to hear a person whistling.

The fact that no one in my house ever opens or closes curtains or blinds. If it's dark enough to turn the light on then it's dark enough to close the blinds.

You should hear my husbands whistling ritual, very annoying and repetitive

When you complain to a very large cruise company about something that happened on your holiday. Firstly it takes them 2 months to respond to the complaint. Then they apologise and offer a paltry amount of compensation only redeemable to be used against a future holiday costing around £4000 that must be booked within 2 years.
Sorry not sorry… 😡

We done this!
We was at the park!
I done that! 😡

I seen it
I done it.

People you let out in traffic who don't say thank you.

Thepeopleversuswork · 21/07/2024 15:24

Endless need for passwords to do absolutely anything on the internet and having to re-enter everything if you change your computer.

People who sit in the aisle seat on a packed commuter train and don’t move up when you go to sit down.

People who walk three abreast holding hands on the pavement.

People watching videos on their phones on a bus or train without headphones all deserve a special place in hell.

When you open a new box of paracetamol/ibuprofen at the ‘wrong’ end and the folded paper leaflet thing is in the way 😡
This always happens to me😂

Grrrrr, yes, why is it seemingly impossible to open them any other way, although logically speaking, we should get it the right way around at least 50% of the time?!

Seatofthepantsstuff · 21/07/2024 14:58

Flimsy vegetable drawers in fridges and freezers.

People who answer just the first question in an email which contains two equally important questions.

Trying to unwrap the plastic off wrapped water bottles or cans of beer or pop.

'Literally?'

I'll bet it don't 😜

When it rains solidly for a whole day but my garden is still bone dry the next day and needs gallons of water. My 'garden' being a terrace with pots. Haha.

When asking a member of staff something (any staff, e.g. shop assistants, railway station staff, bank tellers, customer service people etc) and they just answer your exact question without offering any further useful information. E.g.

"Hi, can I pick up my tickets here?"
"No."

(Rather than: "no, you have to go round the corner to the next desk" etc)

I don't know if I'm being unreasonable or not but it really annoys me to have to ask the obvious next question ("Where should I go then?" "When will it be open?" "How do I fix it?" etc) instead of them just bloody telling me 🤣

Just had this with a company about a catflap. They must have splashed out lots on an online ad campaign. I click the link and message with what I need and would it possible (odd door).

They just reply 'hi, yeah'.

I write back for a quote, what info they need, how to get things started etc.

They reply with just 'Need to see to quote'.

OK...I send all the info I could imagine they need and ask for a quote to the nearest £100.

They reply with 'Will need to see it'.

I've just left it because I'm already pissed off. I don't want them to creep and crawl to me but what is the point in paying for advertising just to let a genuine customer go. If they'd offered to book a visit- some times/dates etc maybe even a hello they would have had my money by now. I felt like a pest to them.

TheHuntSyndicate · 21/07/2024 14:24

Plastic bottle caps attached to bottle necks! I pull or snip every one off. Utterly stupid idea!

Crumpleton · 21/07/2024 14:04

That sucker pad on my bath scrunchie rope that has the ability to stick so fast it has me literally dragging it round the shower tray trying to get it to unrealease.

AlbertCamel · 21/07/2024 13:59

And 'he's written as 'his'. Just awful.

Coat-hangers mating. Or "un-consciously coupling". When I pull one out of the basket, I didn't expect you all to pile on. In the same vein, Christmas lights.

Oh I hate the coat hanger thing.
Also when you inadvertently create a domino effect by taking something out of the cupboard or lifting it from a shelf/ table and in the process, it knocks into other things which in turn knock over other things and everything falls over.
Hate that.

Said this before on a similar thread. When you're paying with contactless, it bleeps making you think it's gone through, you put your card away and go to finish packing and the cashier says 'its not gone through you'll have to put your card in the machine.' So you have to stop packing and get your card back out 😡 I mean why does it bleep as if everything is all right then?

Also card machines that don't beep when the payment goes through and card machines that don't show you the amount.

(And Sainsbury's self checkouts in general, although they actually aren't guilty of the two things above!)

ssd · 21/07/2024 13:50

Dh asking on a nice day, so what are we doing?

You tell me for once

abracadabra1980 · 20/07/2024 16:24

Adults who post pictures of plated meals and an alcoholic drink. Just fuck off most of us have had a fancy meal and a glass of wine by the time we are 25 years old
Ditto similar irritation with adults who attention seek. Anywhere.

Fireangels · 20/07/2024 14:51

DH watching videos on his phone with sound on.
Noisy eating.
Parents letting kids watch cartoons/play computer games in restaurants without using headphones.

Should probably see a doctor about that...

A colleague once said she literally died of cold waiting for the bus, and I got a (literally) blank look for saying 'so how come you're here then?'

It helps to actually look at the little screen and wait for the big green tick?

Grammar pedants on here ! They need to get over the facts that languages evolve, some posters may struggle with language due to dyslexia , gaps in their education or that English is not their first language!
They just need to stick to pedants corner and stop correcting posters elsewhere!!

Stupid stickers that don’t come off things properly and packaging that’s impossible to open . They make my dyspraxic hands ache !!
