When you open a new box of paracetamol/ibuprofen at the ‘wrong’ end and the folded paper leaflet thing is in the way 😡

Every.Single.Time!!

I know it's probably regional or a class thing, but people who use 'ignorant' to mean 'ill-mannered'.

But that is literally the definition if you care to look it up.

Got a tip for that. If you feel along the box for the date (it’s usually slightly raised) That’s the end where the instructions will be. Open the other end.

Male joggers huffing out their breath loudly into my air area as they go thudding past "HUUUUFF HUUUUFFF HUFFFF HUFFFF", urgh.

ThreeTescoBags · 22/07/2024 17:48

The automated checkout telling me 'Please take your items' when I've only just paid, especially when I'm using the trolley checkout with a full shop and it tells me repeatedly whilst I'm actively engaged in taking my items.

Alright, fucking hell, give me a chance!

I've started flicking the Vs at the one in our local morrisons

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 22/07/2024 17:45

The current craze of holding a phone conversation in public with it on speakerphone! Nobody wants to hear your damn conversation.

theeyeofdoe · 22/07/2024 17:39

Mine is people listening to stuff without headphones.

People who pronounce women the same as woman.

Oddly I do that! Isn't it just a flat accent - ie manchester?

Disturbtheuniverse · 22/07/2024 17:31

When you are at a distance from someone where you don't know whether to open the door for them or not. If you don't, it will shut in their face. If you do, they have to do the little jog thing to avoid keeping you waiting.

It's also annoying when you have to do the little jog thing when someone is holding the door open for you.

Private school parents claiming that they prioritise their children’s education, like the rest of us don’t give a damn about our children’s education. Thing is, I don’t think they actually DO believe that. It’s just something to say… rather than - I’d quite like my kid to hobnob with rich kids and see where that ends up… I mean, Kate Middleton did okay …

How rude and snobby. People can't help the speech they were raised with and might not know. I didn't realise it was should have and not should of etc until I was at university for my masters as no one I spent them with had ever mentioned it.

You’re quite right, and that person you were replying to who says they literally vomit, isn’t using the word literally correctly, so they’re not as clever as they thought

@stephy1886 what exactly is it that "boomers" do? It's particularly unpleasant to use a term in such a pejorative way and not a little ageist.

Try inserting a pejorative word for another protected characteristic and see how it fares.

Yes. I'm intrigued by how absolutely everything an old dear like me does is clearly so intensely irritating to young people.
Can we have list for our addled brains?

Presto95 · 22/07/2024 13:25

Rather a “first world” gripe but why, when you order a lovely slice of gateau in a cafe do they serve it ON TOP of the paper napkin? You’re left with a messy piece of paper that is no use and have wasted a good chunk of cream filling (not that I couldn’t do with having less of it)

Plastic toothpaste tubes. When you get near the end, you have to keep pushing up the blasted tube to get the toothpaste to the top. Then you have to repeat every time you clean your teeth because the paste doesn't stay there.

Wish it was still the metal tubes, you could roll it up and the toothpaste would stay at the top and you could get more out before binning the empty tube.

Store it with the lid on the bottom.

Left handed products that don't need to be left handed and cost a fortune.

Scissors are something you do need left handed versions of but lots of things you don't. Wooden spoons, rulers - most have numbers on both sides, just turn it 180 degrees.

A left handed can opener can cost more than an electric can opener which can be used by anyone.

Pens. If you use a fountain pen you only need to change the nib.

Corkscrews, again cost a fortune for left handed but you can use a right handed one if you turn the bottle instead of the corkscrew.

When people say they brought something when they mean bought.
We just brought our first home.. ugh

useitorlose · 22/07/2024 05:25

Stickers on apples
People who park next to me when there are a gazillion empty spots
Trying to put the rubbish in my dustbin with the dog on a lead pulling in the opposite direction so I don't get close enough to lift the lid up
Shop assistants who lurk around the make up displays so it's impossible to browse without feeling scrutinised
Packages that say tear here and then when you do, only half of it comes open or it goes wonky and spills out

SinnerBoy · 22/07/2024 05:18

I can't say I've noticed coat hangers having orgies...

As for the medicine leaflets.... Yeah, yeah! I know! Dizziness, blindness, headaches, strokes, impotence, spontaneous prolapsed anus, fingernail cancer, baldness.

Why bother with taking them?

Inspireme2 · 22/07/2024 04:58

Sniffing.
Licking fingers when they do it loudly.

It's a small thing in the grand scheme of things but I am in a constant battle to get the family to refil the kettle when they empty it - drives me insane when I go to get a cup of tea and find the kettle empty!

Stephy1886 · 22/07/2024 03:49

places that give food stupid names

“can I have the big daddy burger”

a lot of things boomers do

folk posting personal life stuff on LinkedIn “today I lost my son/daughter/wife”

Stephy1886 · 22/07/2024 03:47

“Enter your pin” / “that’s you”

im standing with my card ready to tap it but they still walk me through it

boomers:
”it’s telling me to insert my card!”

That sucker pad on my bath scrunchie rope that has the ability to stick so fast it has me literally dragging it round the shower tray trying to get it to unrealease.

This really made me giggle imagining it. I have the same with my bath pillow and end up getting so frustrated after a few minutes trying to free it 😂.

Minimili · 22/07/2024 02:51

This is very specific but the 4 men who stand 4 abreast across the shallow end of the swimming pool in the gym and chat for over an hour most evenings.

It drives me mad when anyone does it, after aqua aerobics the 30 or so women stay in the pool chatting for ages as well but these 4 men just make my blood boil.

The pool used to be almost empty when I went in the evening but now they are there every time I go and no one can swim a full length because they stand right across, they stand with their arms spread out and elbows on the side.

There is a steam room they could sit in or loungers around the pool but instead they choose to take up the whole pool.

I pay almost £50 a month and I know they are paying members as well but it just seems a waste as I’ve never seen them swim a length. They can see people struggling to swim round them but just ignore it.

Other things pool related that are annoying are:

People who stand talking blocking the lockers when they are dressed,

People who act like they are at home and stand in full view shaving their pubes in the showers, shake talc everywhere and the woman who sits on the bench naked with no towel and rubs in body lotion all over giving us all an eyeful, when she bends over her bum hole is winking at us!
I’m not a prude and get undressed myself, I just don’t flash my growler at all and sundry.

People who ignore the MANY signs saying boys over 8 are not allowed in the ladies changing room, last week a woman had a boy with her who had facial hair! At least staff act on it if it’s brought to their attention.

And finally people doing backstroke in a busy pool and crash into other swimmers. If the lanes are out then fair enough.

i feel better now for having a moan!

Americans who say "good job!".

Slow pedestrians / blindly unaware pedestrians who don't realise others need to pass them on a narrow stretch of pavement.
