HPV vaccine age 44 - worth it?

Hi all, in the recent and not so recent past I've had HPV (high risk) as well as colposcopy / LLETZ. My last and very recent pap smear came back HPV negative.

I'm 44 and I've got a short window before I turn 45 and was wondering if anyone around my age has gone for the vaccine despite prior infections that have cleared, and if you think it's worth it from a medical and / or financial perspective?

I understand that it can protect you from strains you've not had before and maybe even stimulate the body to clear dormant strains you may have?

Not 100% sure. Also reluctant to call my GP to chat about it because getting an appointment is a nightmare and they always treat me like an idiot when I go there because they want to get you out the door ASAP as if you're time wasting - not an easy local practice to deal with!

Thank you.

absolutely pointless at your age but@LostAtTheCrossRoad please ask your surgery because your 17 year old should have been vaccinated.

Our 20 year old was missed for various reasons but was vaccinated last September and boosted in February at the age of 20 so it’s not too late for them

I had my 18 year old son vaccinated privately a couple of years ago. Very happy with that choice.

Depends how many sexual partners you've had in the past and how many you expect to have in the future I guess.

Pointless really. I'd rather they vaccinated the under 20s of both sexes who've only just missed out eg, my 15yo had it but my 17yo didn't. I'm very tempted to pay for him to have it privately.
