Fish and chips too heavy. Pizza so expensive compared to £6 fancy supermarket pizza. Indian I’d rather have in a restaurant. DH prefers Chinese but he is wrong.

Who’s with me?

I don’t like GDK as it’s all doner. My local Turkish takeaway is cheaper and better.

I dunno, I used to love the tray special from my local (sounds similar to yours) but since I've tried GDK there's no going back for me. I think their yoghurt sauce has crack in it.

I always think you can tell a good kebab place by it having garlic yogurt and not garlic mayo.

YABU

Kebab should only ever be eaten when absolutely steaming drunk.

The best takeaway is Chinese your husband is correct. He should LTB

Good kebabs are wastes on the drunk.

Kebabs are amazing and I can't get enough of GDK

Redglitter · 09/06/2023 23:25

I wouldn't take a kebab if it was free

Chinese however...... 😁

Coolhwip · 09/06/2023 23:22

I tell a lie, it’s £25!

Wenfy · 09/06/2023 23:21

Kebabs are better at Turkish restaurants imo. My vote is def Chinese - nothing better than a platter of dimsum for takeaway

Coolhwip · 09/06/2023 23:20

You’re not wrong, OP. My local Turkish takeaway in London deliver an amazing, big grill platter for £20. DH likes doner and I like the taouk (pieces of lamb and chicken), so it works out well as we each get what we want. It comes with salad, chips, pita bread and garlic sauce. I eat the salad, DH has the chips and pitta. We fight over the sauce.

TheDogsMother · 09/06/2023 22:42

What the elephant leg ? Noooooo. A shish with all the trimmings is fantastic. Otherwise Indian or Thai.

Orangerytree · 09/06/2023 22:28

Totally agree, I love a kebab takeaway

Florissante · 09/06/2023 22:18

Turkish / Greek / Lebanese / sushi rules. Anyone who disagrees can meet me in the parking lot after class.

We don't have those as takeaway options round here, sadly.... otherwise I might agree!

PleasantOwl · 09/06/2023 22:25

Why have one when you can have two, and order a donner kebab pizza?

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 09/06/2023 22:24

Chinese from our local is the best.
Kebab from our local choppy a respectable second.
Agree, prefer Indian in a restaurant. Can never have ot as a takeaway anyway as I am the only one st home who will eat it (bloody fussy teens).

FindingTheFox · 09/06/2023 22:01

Nope. Indian is the best takeaway hands down.

TheMurderousGoose · 09/06/2023 21:56

Thai is the best takeaway though.

every fule knos that.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/06/2023 21:56

I am also very averse to the look of Donnor, and I think eyebrows and arseholes is a great description

I have never eaten Donnor meat. I always get chicken

TheMurderousGoose · 09/06/2023 21:55

YABU.

donner meat is so absolutely revolting. it's up there with those jars of pickled eggs on chip shop counters.

I quite like a chicken or lamb gyros.

NorthWestThree · 09/06/2023 21:54

Bloody love a kebab

SirenSays · 09/06/2023 21:53

Donner meat grosses me out after a friend described it as eyebrows and arseholes.
I'm always iffy about ordering lamb after I watched a documentary where they dna tested loads of takeaways and none that said they were lamb actually were.

hilbil21 · 09/06/2023 21:40

Donner kebab meat pizza is elite.

illiterato · 09/06/2023 21:36

Chicken shish and chips from the West Hampstead grill on the bridge. Red cabbage, chili sauce, garlic sauce. Oh yes!! Best thing I’ve ever eaten. Not even joking. Think they still cooked their chips in tallow. They were sublime.

OutdoorPillow · 09/06/2023 21:33

My local Indian does an amazing sheek lamb kebab. Minced lamb with onion and herbs rolled into little sausages and cooked over charcoal, drizzled in garlic and chili sauces, then wrapped up in a plain naan with some lettuce.

God tier.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/06/2023 21:32

It REALLY depends on whether you have a good takeaway nearby. I moved 3 years ago and there is a kebab shop here that is the absolute business.

I would never have thought Ooo I'll get a Kebab tonight before finding this place.

Chinese first, Indian second

My nearest proper Turkish and Lebanese restaurant is also amazing but it's in the city. They don't deliver this far out
