Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

Women who hover above the toilet seat generally wee on it, leaving it unpleasant for the next person. Just give it a wipe if necessary and sit down!

This.

Whatkindofuckeryisthis · 07/06/2023 09:31

Unless it’s already wet then no.. I’d wee all down my leg!!

nutbrownhare15 · 07/06/2023 09:31

Other people/the backs of people's thighs really aren't that dirty. The 'bare arse' goes over the hole, that's the point of how a toilet is designed. I've only hovered if the loo looks really grim and I can't go to a different cubicle (rare) or the seat is missing. If the seat is wet I'll wipe it down. No health issues resulting from years of sitting on public toilets.

darklady64 · 07/06/2023 09:31

Honestly! No, I have never hovered and I have never suffered from it - and I am a ripe old age now. You won't catch anything from a toilet seat. And people who hover, cover the seat with pee and then leave are the absolute worst - they won't "catch" anything, but it's OK to leave the next person or the cleaner to clean up their piss?

And all this cleaning everything with wet wipes isn't doing the environment any good either. Sometimes I really despair of what the human race is becoming.

Oh - and some of you really had better not go to any festivals.

SeanDanielorBalonz · 07/06/2023 09:30

Pointless. What exactly are you afraid of "catching" from the toilet seat?

TrashyPanda · 07/06/2023 09:30

I just go for a pee. And obviously sit down. life is too short for all this fuss.

the only time I would hover would be if I was out in the middle of nowhere and had to go for a pee behind a tree

people are getting completely paranoid about fantasy risks from “germs”. We don’t live in an hermetically sealed vacuum.

the trend for continually drinking water means people have to pee a lot more often

Primrosefrill · 07/06/2023 09:30

I cannot believe how many people sit on a public toilet seat 🤮never in a million years would I do that.

I hover and always wipe the seat if needs be.

willWillSmithsmith · 07/06/2023 09:29

Hovering (or even hoovering) above a toilet seat sounds very precarious (could be good exercise though?). Why not just put some loo roll on the seat and sit on that if you’re worried.

Fighterofthenightman1 · 07/06/2023 09:28

I don't know how people hover without pee going everywhere

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 07/06/2023 09:27

This thread is blowing my mind. Is this the reason female toilet queues are so long? I can’t think of a time I’ve ever hovered - maybe at a festival if the loo is really, really minging. Otherwise I plonk my arse down! It’s never occurred to me that people don’t sit on the toilet seat. I mean, the clue’s in the name!

ginamc · 07/06/2023 09:25

We were taught to hover as kids in public loos, mainly due to the public info signs informing that you can catch STIs from the seats (!) I don't hover now but will give the seat a quick wipe

TheGoogleMum · 07/06/2023 09:24

I sit, my legs are short so hovering isn't always possible!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/06/2023 09:24

Never do, never have. I just wipe the seat first, if some particularly inconsiderate hoverer has left drips on it.

Public toilets freak me out a little bit, so I wipe the seat - hover and pee - wipe the seat again (just in case...) and flush. I wouldn't rub my bare arse against someone else's so I'm not sitting on that seat.

🤔 you spread your ass cheeks to pee?

LondonJax · 07/06/2023 09:22

I'm a sitter. I can't imagine how you'd catch anything from a loo seat. Surely the bit that's vulnerable (your vagina) is 'hovering' already as it's over the hole in the seat? I usually give the loo seat a quick wipe just to make sure it's dry but that's it.

Do the hoverers also hover if they need to do a poo? If not, why not? Surely if you sit to poo, it's the same as sitting to wee? The vaginal area doesn't just get plastic coated because you're pooing - it's still open and in the same place as it is for a wee. And if you do hover to poo, how do you make sure it's going in the pan? OK, I've grossed myself out now!

Just as an aside, my sister kept getting prolonged bouts of UTIs/cystitis. In the end the GP asked if she sat or hovered over the loo. She said she hovered. The GP told her to sit. It helps to empty the bladder properly.

  • The NIdirect.gov website says to prevent UTIs by ...'if you're a woman, avoid ‘hovering’ over a toilet seat as it can result in your bladder not being fully emptied'
katepilar · 07/06/2023 09:22

I sometimes hover and sometimes dont. Depending on the loo or my mood. I manage not to drip on the seat.

80sMum · 07/06/2023 09:20

I have managed to survive 65 years of using public loos without ever having felt the need to hoover. I have on rare occasions hovered, but only when the seat was obviously filthy and there was no other loo available.

Brilliant for the thigh muscles. I've always done it.

maybe this is why I'm great at squats?!

mrsrobin · 07/06/2023 09:19

I also despair at wee all over the place. Hover if you like, just wipe up after. And don't get me started on people who can't flush.....

Hankunamatata · 07/06/2023 09:19

Iv spray in handbag. So spray and wipe. Only hover if utterly grim like porta look and something I can hold onto.

I have never hovered. I've reached age 60 without anything weird happening to me. No infections or illness or diseases.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2023 09:17

Are you a foot flusher too?

gamerchick · 07/06/2023 09:16

No I sit down. I only hover if there's nothing to clean the sheer amount of piss some dirty bastards leave behind. But that rare because I carry tissues usually.
