Most women hoover above toilet seat in public toilets to pee?

I was out this weekend and had to use the toilet to pee. I normally hoover above toilet seat to pee in public toilets and was thinking to myself this is difficult especially if I need to do a long pee🙈😂 Is this what most women do too or am I being extra germ conscious and should just wipe the seat and sit down? Sorry if tmi but I'm just curious

Vividly remember my own mother doing this when I was small (and telling me to do the same). I found it odd even back then. What exactly are you going to catch on the back of your thighs?

At schools they used to say Crabs 😂

Just buy some flipping flash wioes and give it a Cowan not sure why in this day and age with the conviemce of products to use one the go people act like cavemen soiling the seat, outer bowl and floor and then ruining everyones day.

MixedBananas · 01/03/2025 07:48

It is disgusting I go in and find residual pee on the seats or on the floor!!!!!! Why not buy a pack of flash wipes and clean the seat before sitting down, for Gods sake. It makes me sick and so angry. I have to carry a big pack of domestos wipes and clean w very surface becuase of the vile toilet behaviours of some. I have to clean the door handle the seat and flush to.
Grown ASK women can't even use the toilet correctly or have the organization skills to pack some wipes.

I can't believe this thread about women hoovering public toilets has been resurrected.

Frances0911 · 01/03/2025 02:53

Either toilet roll covering the seat which is a faf, or I hover. Otherwise you are literally sitting on all sorts of bacteria. Although I don't use public toilets often, and will try to hold it in until I get home if possible.

TheGoogleMum · 28/02/2025 23:00

I sit but I have very short legs so I'm not really tall enough to hover

XenoBitch · 28/02/2025 22:53

I have never hovered. Never caught anything by sitting on the seat either.

Sigmama · 28/02/2025 22:05

Paper on the seat is unnecessary but whats wrong with flushing it?

HappydaysArehere · 28/02/2025 22:00

My mother told me to hover. Many years after I was told at a clinic that it caused problems later and it certainly did. Couldn’t empty bladder properly and wee started to spray so had to sit firmly down after covering the seat with tissues which I place in a bin and never down the toilet.

timetorefresh · 28/02/2025 21:14

I sit. Wish people would all just sit so they don't get piss all over the seat

This reminds me of my grandmother in law. She always tells me about how she never sits on any toilet other than her own and will either hover or completely cover with loo roll. I find it very odd.

so she either sprays the seat for the next person or blocks to toilet with excess paper.
Nice of her.

When I hover if there are any drips on the seat I wipe them up. The first night in a hotel bed makes my skin crawl . Thinking of who slept here before me. I'm weird I know 😂 judging by reply's to my post

It's actually the people that hover, that make others feel the need to hover because you're probably the only ones who end up weeing on the seat! If we all just sat down normally I reckon there would be a lot less mess.

Hoverers are the reason the seats get covered in pee in the first place 🤢

I'm sure I read somewhere that it means you don't empty your bladder properly which leaves you more susceptible to infections.

I always sit 🤷‍♀️

I was told this by nurses when I had a UTI - I was asked if I was a hoverer - which I’m not. But I got told never to hover all the same.

You need to sit down on the seat to properly empty your bladder. If small amounts of urine are retained, you are risking a UTI. To women who think they’re being healthier by hovering, I’m afraid the opposite is the case.

VeganStar · 27/02/2025 13:37

I can’t hover even if I wanted to.
every time I’ve tried to hover I end up peeing down my right leg.
my foof has problems with direction obviously. I’m quite happy sitting on the toilet seat though.

Niknakcake · 27/02/2025 10:29

Due to my job most of the time I’m using a toilet on a moving train… hovering would not work. I just take antibacterial wipes in my kit bag and use them first.

Topseyt123 · 27/02/2025 10:19

I don't hover over public toilet seats. People who do spray piss everywhere.

I certainly don't hoover over public toilet seats either! 🤣 I know it's a zombie thread and I don't care about that.

Squidtentacles · 27/02/2025 06:58

I do not hover. it's only the back of my legs that touch the seat, who cares!

TheNinny · 27/02/2025 06:55

i’ve never hovered

bengalcat · 27/02/2025 06:38

I just wipe any wee off and sit down like a normal person

ScottBakula · 18/01/2025 23:52

Zombie thread, I hope the toilets you all use get cleaned more often than this 2023 thread gets posted on

Bonjovispyjamas · 18/01/2025 11:14

Zombie!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/01/2025 10:53

ShowOfHands · 07/06/2023 07:55

I used to do this until my Dyson got too unwieldy to lug round the shopping mall so now I just take a dustpan and brush instead.

😂😂
I never hover, OP. Too uncomfortable. My DM always did, though, or she said she did. Petrified of any stray molecule of anyone else’s pee contaminating her skin.

Iwasafool · 18/01/2025 10:49

I have this image of women all taking a hoover out with them so they can hoover public toilets before using them. It is a strange image but quite funny.

Sorry OP but I hate hoverers who leave the toilet seat soaking in their wee. Hovering is causing the problem.

BoldBlueZebra · 17/01/2025 18:08

Thankfully in the post Covid era I always have hand gel I make myself a little cleaning wipe and get the loo seat germ free and pee in comfort.

ellyeth · 12/06/2023 16:45

Unless it is a particularly insanitary looking toilet, I do not hover - far too uncomfortable and inhibits the release of urine. My Mum used to put toilet paper round the seat. That was in the days when there were notices in the public toilets about "venereal disease".
