To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

The pilot uniform with the badly cut jacket and culottes is one of the ugliest uniforms I’ve ever seen.

It's all pretty boring yanbu.

It says in the article that the jumpsuit is for check-in staff only at the moment.

I think the white shirt and skirt combo is awful though!

Something disturbingly 'school uniform' about that particular look.

And jumpsuits are your only trouser-option? Even passengers are advised not to fly wearing those. Getting in and out of them in those cramped, dirty toilet cubicles is hardly practical!

And yes, it's easy to tell they have been designed by a man. I'd personally rather wear the bloke's suit. Commiserations, OP!

@BIWI Why are you believing that a BBC article is more accurate than what an actual cabin crew member is saying? BBC reports have been known to be inaccurate before!

A lot of people are struggling to eat right now, so won't be going on any flight for a while, let alone a BA one. If they were so lucky, I think the last think they would be worried about are the subtle details of their uniforms. They'd probably be happy whatever they were wearing.

My DH is a pilot. Flights have never been so busy. Airports restaurants etc too.

Man designs unsuitable clothes for women shocker. Any woman who has ever worn a jumpsuit could have told him that they aren't exactly - er - convenient in the conveniences.

Concorde uniforms would be dated, the last flight was in 2003!

Let's see what they come up with for female captains, often forgotten.

Ok, so if you can choose from across the entire range, and have items tailored, then I'd have trousers and waistcoat tailored to fit. The dress would be fine with some adjustments. As would trousers paired with a shortened tunic dress. Plus comfy lace up ankle boots with a chunky sole, please.

Or is it actually more restrictive, and sexist, than the press release is making it sound? I assume sheer tights, high heels, and makeup are no longer required?

Surely the jumpsuit has been designed to be easily removed if its had 5 years of testing. I doubt it'll be like your budget High Street version, impossible to remove by yourself.

If they've included women's trousers in the collection then that's fair enough. I mean the skirt is still hideous and the jumpsuit is completely stupid, but very few people get to wear a uniform they love.

Gosh, a jumpsuit? So impractical.

All of those choices are pretty awful, but then BA uniforms always are.

Its so odd they've not included a Proper womens trouser (& making women wear the mens trouser instead if they want that option). Surely if women do that they will look really odd & not as smart. Hopefully they will listen to feedback and irs something that can be easily rectified
