Would you vote conservative again?

I wouldn’t vote conservative again after the total shambles that have been the last 12 years. They’re constantly infighting rather than sorting out the economy and have left the NHS in a total mess. No care for people suffering from the cost of living crisis

I don’t know how anyone with a social conscious could vote Tory. Either very very rich, very very stupid or just a cunt.

I came on here to say exactly same thing!

GreatHonkingPudding · 23/10/2022 21:25

Pretty much everything in our country is worse since 2010.

I read this week that the average person in the U.K. is now poorer than the average person in Slovenia, and soon would be poorer than the average person in Poland.

Court cases don't get to court for years, there's 3.5x as many people on NHS waiting lists as in 2010, schools will soon run out of money, more British children lost a parent or caregiver during covid than comparable countries...

Our country is collapsing around our ears and I can't escape the conclusion that either the Tories are staggeringly incompetent and doing it by accident or malevolent and doing it on purpose.

FFS you should at least learn to spell properly to spew your hatred and homophobia.

That's always assuming that your post are left to stand.

Or do you think that by posting at this time of night that @MNHQ won't notice your ignorant, offensive nonsense?

tillyFam1971 · 23/10/2022 21:20

who?

to be honest i hope boris is prime minister again. he has been the best thing this country has ever seen. He was able to get brexit done and give this country the freedom it diserverves. if you think differently DO NOT fill up my PMs.

@tillyFam1971

I'm not going to PM you because I wouldn't want to conceal my ridicule at your response.

I can only think you are the 'bring Boris back' troll from earlier. If not, then you are seriously, seriously deluded.

@MariEllie - I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Your post is basically arguing that Truss’s policies spooked the markets, but the markets were wrong and there was actually nothing whatsoever wrong with her plan of massive borrowing (from said markets) whilst providing no evidence whatsoever the country could ever pay the money back. They tried a similarly insane plan in the 1970s dash for growth. What sort of fantasy business world do you live in? The same one as Corbyn, where the only problem with his policies was also that the markets are “wrong” and “too easily spooked”?

As for leaving the UK - well, after Brexit, covid, Tory infantilism, the effects of the Ukraine war and Trussonomics, it’s really not surprising if businesses are considering quitting the UK. We are advertising ourselves as a morally bankrupt, unstable, imploding fuck up that it is increasingly difficult to do trade with, has been run down by austerity, has crumbling infrastructure and has been infiltrated at the very top by dangerous egotists who are using the country as the test centre for their extremist ideologies.

I would have to vote Tory, unfortunately. I can’t bring myself to vote for a party like Labour.

Why not?

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 23/10/2022 20:53

Yes. I would vote for any candidate most likely to defeat an SNP candidate- if that's Conservative, yes, no hesitation.

VicToryA · 23/10/2022 20:48

I voted Conservative for my entire life (now in my 50s), but did not vote Conservative at the last election because of Brexit. I would now add "because of Lockdown" (which was the worst policy since Brexit).

A lot would have to change for me to vote Conservative again - though as I disagree with the Lib Dems about a lot of things (my Lib Dem vote at the last GE was a protest vote - it's a super-safe Conservative seat), I couldn't vote for them, either. And I disagree with the Labour party about pretty much everything, so Hell would freeze over before they got my vote.

So I am now politically homeless.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 20:47

Ha don't make me laugh, taxes worldwide are going to go up and the UK's will be the highest, due to Truss and the Tories.

You don't know any businesses planning to leave the UK if Labour get in.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 20:43

But I know that labour will make a complete mess of things even worse than the Conservatives. If you think otherwise you’re living in cloud cuckoo land. There was actually nothing wrong with Truss’ economic policies - low tax, high growth - it was the sudden implementation of them combined with high borrowing that spooked the markets

Hang on, read that back to yourself? Nothing wrong with Truss's plan apart from all of it lol!

You cannot just wish high growth, the markets completely rejected her plan - which was to borrow to fund low taxes, it wouldn't have worked!
Growth is always (historically) backed by Govt spending or by increased tax revenues = greater Govt spending i.e Norway, once Europes poorest nation, now the richest in the world.

Thatcher/Lawson got finances under control, then cut taxes = growth BUT what they forget to tell us all is that North Sea oil revenues save the UK - that isn't going to happen this time around.

You don't know that about Labour because they haven't been in power for 12.5 years & they wont be in for another two years.

TBF its not possible to do worse than what Truss did, its beyond stupidity and yet the whole Tory party/Govt want us all to believe that this was just two idiots and no one else had anything to do with it.

Blossomtoes · 23/10/2022 20:37

I think you’re resident in cloud cuckoo land if you think things could be a worse mess than we’ve seen in the last month.

we will all be taxed to the hilt under Labour.

Taxation is currently the highest for 70 years.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 18:18

Corbyn had a mandate from the party membership and its better to have moderates inside Labours front bench than not.

But on a thread about the Tories, why not ask Nadim Zahawi why he wanted Boris gone in July but now wants him back as PM ?

Or why Boris never criticised Truss's economic policies before she enacted them - he was PM after all - if he is soooo good, why didn't he save us all from this disaster?

are you reading what I said. I am not endorsing bringing Boris back. But I know that labour will make a complete mess of things even worse than the Conservatives. If you think otherwise you’re living in cloud cuckoo land. There was actually nothing wrong with Truss’ economic policies - low tax, high growth - it was the sudden implementation of them combined with high borrowing that spooked the markets. Added to which that all the markets are governed by a certain philosophy and beware anyone who breaks outside of that. Starmer will not be able to break out of that philosophy of low growth and high taxation anyway and we will all be taxed to the hilt under Labour. I know of businessmen who are going to leave the country anyway if he gets in as they will just not be able to run a business under Labour. The problem we have with the Conservatives is that they can’t get their act together. Boris has now become a hindrance to them. He needs to give it a rest and let someone else have a go. He is damaged goods as far as politics is concerned at the moment and ought to go abroad and earn his money speaking. Unfortunately his oversized ego will not allow him to do this

I ve asked two specific Tory posters to tell me anything that has improved since 2010
The number of billionaires in the uk and the number of children living in poverty in the uk have both increased since 2010 - does that count?

No... lol!

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 18:18

MariEllie · 23/10/2022 17:30

Exactly but why did Starmer back him in the first place then?

BIWI · 23/10/2022 17:32

Well, one presumes that was before the whole anti-semitism issue reared its very ugly head.

But that was before - things have moved on. Your post implies that Sir Kier is still a supporter of Corbyn, which he very evidently is not.

MariEllie · 23/10/2022 17:30

BIWI · 23/10/2022 17:21

That's complete nonsense @MariEllie - Corbyn was suspended from the Labour party by Sir Kier Starmer so he's hardly likely to be backing him now.

Exactly but why did Starmer back him in the first place then?

Alexandra2001 · 23/10/2022 17:25

I ve asked two specific Tory posters to tell me anything that has improved since 2010... no response.

Anyone?
