Would you vote conservative again?

I wouldn’t vote conservative again after the total shambles that have been the last 12 years. They’re constantly infighting rather than sorting out the economy and have left the NHS in a total mess. No care for people suffering from the cost of living crisis

I would reluctantly vote Labour if there’s another general election. Reluctantly because I’m not happy about the proposed self-ID laws and the fact that they can’t identify what a woman is. That being said, I’m sick of what the tories have done to this country. I live in a poor area and there are more and more food banks popping up left right and centre. I’m sick of seeing kids live in overcrowded houses with shit food to eat whilst the tories line their pockets.

GreatHonkingPudding · 22/10/2022 10:37

Sunak is the guy who cost this country billions in unnecessary debt interest and fraudulent furlough claims by not doing his job properly last time he was in charge of our economy.

Bluevelvetsofa · 22/10/2022 10:37

I think we’re disenfranchised. There is no one to vote for who is honourable, has a conscience, a grasp of economics and isn’t a self serving, uncaring twat.

DeborahVance · 22/10/2022 10:37

How anyone can vote Conservative after what they have just done I have no idea. I know people who have just been completely and absolutely fucked over by the rise in interest rates.

It is hard enough to but anywhere to live in the south east and it's also pretty much impossible to find anywhere to rent.

The human misery that these utter bastards have caused is unforgivable. Absolutely unforgivable

Despite being a disillusioned party member not knowing where to cast my vote - THIS sort of idiocy turns me straight back to blue.

This proving a theory.

musicandpassion · 22/10/2022 10:36

They're literally laughing at us. Can you imagine the conversations in parliament if Boris comes back?

Sunak is a good choice so they do have someone else. He got it right re predictions. Unfortunately the party seems committed to putting it to vote with the members.

Which will result in Johnson's return : which if Matthew Parris is to be believed, Johnson and his allies have been orchestrating ever since his resignation.

I don’t know how anyone with a social conscious could vote Tory. Either very very rich, very very stupid or just a cunt.

Those of us with mortgages are soon to get hundreds of reasons a month not to vote Conservative again aren't we?

Full Fact
in an interview with Sky News, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer claimed some people’s mortgage payments are to rise by an average of £500 per month as a “direct consequence” of the government’s mini-Budget.

Mr Starmer was quoting figures from a Labour Party analysis, reported in the Independent, Manchester Evening News and elsewhere, and it appears that the Labour Party tweet and similar ones from MPs are also based on the same source.

That analysis found that across the country some homeowners face an increase in monthly mortgage payments of around £500. But it wasn’t an estimate for all mortgages—instead, it looked specifically at the rise in payments now faced by those coming off a two-year fixed-term mortgage.

And it wasn’t comparing mortgages now to those just available just before the mini-Budget, but rather those available in August 2020. This was not made clear by Mr Starmer in the clip shared by Sky News, or in the Labour Party’s tweet.

Mortgage rates have risen sharply in the past few weeks, and some mortgage experts have attributed this to the mini-Budget, though this is disputed by others and movements in financial markets may be due to different factors. But what we do know is that the £500 increase in monthly payments estimated by Labour isn’t solely a consequence of the mini-Budget, because much of that increase is due to rates rising before the mini-Budget took place.

Almost three-quarters of people aged 65 years and over in England own their home outright.

Have Labour announced their policies on inheritance tax yet? I don't want to lose my inheritance from my parents.

Olivetreebutter · 22/10/2022 10:31

I vote for whoever I think has a good and strong vision for the future that I agree with, regardless of the party. I've voted labour, conservative, lib dem and green before (admittedly lib dem and green mostly to keep OUT a particular party based on local voting patterns).
I quite liked Cameron, I liked the coalition (though I know it had major issues, I hated Blair and labour at that time). I hated Corbyn and labour under him. But Tory will have to burn themselves to the ground and start afresh before I vote for them again. I think each political party is as bad as each other, every politician. But to do is so brazenly, to show absolutely no regard for their voters and to lie, break the law and mislead the say they have over Brexit, COVID and the recent budgets. That is beyond the pale.

DrDetriment · 22/10/2022 10:31

Yes, because I'm right wing and no one else represents my views. Labour are too socialist and woke for me and the smaller parties, while interesting, don't stand a chance.

daisychain01 · 22/10/2022 10:30

GreatHonkingPudding · 22/10/2022 10:30

Don't. People don't understand this level of satire any more.

We are the country after all who were unhappy about our level of representation in the EU, so kept electing UKIP MEPs who very proudly didn't turn up to represent us.

red4321 · 22/10/2022 10:30

Well I guess I'm a cunt then. But there are quite a lot of us around, despite you being absolutely certain you're right.

I must be too. A few lobbed offensive comments always starts these threads off so positively and encourages debate.

OP there was one thread on this topic a few weeks ago that didn't descend into insults. Both sides shared their views respectfully and it was a refreshing change from the usual vitriolic Tory bashing threads. I'm sure it would come up if you searched.

Ask me in two years time

LoraOldSpot · 22/10/2022 10:28

Never voted Tory never will. Likely voting Lib Dem next GE as they’re more likely to get in than labour here. I have voted labour in the past when we lived elsewhere, but Lib Dems are the party my views most align with.

Nothing says "we have so much talent in our party" like bringing back the Prime Minister they got rid of only six weeks ago for breaking his own laws and lying to Parliament about it, because they don't have anyone else.

bellabasset · 22/10/2022 10:27

I'm incredulous that having forced Boris to resign less than 2 months later they're thinking of bringing him back. He's still facing the investigation by the Parliamentary Privileges Committee.

How could Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng have been so stupid as not to have consulted the OBR before announcing that budget. No I said after the fiasco that was Brexit I wouldn't vote Conservative again. But I'm concerned about Labour as under Corbyn they lost their way and I'm not a fan of Keir Starmer.

I live in Cornwall which was a staunch LibDem area but is now Conservative and I've not voted Conservative and won't. Last election I voted for the Labour candidate who would have been a good constituency MP. In my constituency there's no prospective candidate for either Labour or Libdem.

You didn’t answer the part addressing the fact the conservatives have no talent left.

Eve · 22/10/2022 10:23

No,

i vote locally for the best MP, have voted Lib Dem in the past & conservative.

our Tory MP is reasonably good locally, doesn’t support Boris but I have written to say can’t & won’t due to the current shower in charge.

QueenOf1969 · 22/10/2022 10:23

I’ve no idea where my vote will go, but as a woman it won’t go to Labour as long as they continue to undermine women’s hard won rights. Women died to earn those and Labour are too weak to stand up for them.

thesurrealist · 22/10/2022 10:22

Until it’s sorted from management down, nothing will change.

As an NHS manager I'd very much like to sort out (my part) of the NHS. However because of the current circus I still don't know if I'll have any money in April to keep a vital and life saving service going for patients in this region.

ParentallyUnprepared · 22/10/2022 10:21

I've never voted for them in my life and I doubt I ever will.

Same.
