Porn culture has led to women suffering injuries during sex

Doyoumind · 12/08/2022 10:01

Apart from all the violence etc porn portrays as normal, anal sex is definitely treated as an everyday thing that women enjoy. I don't personally. I know some women claim they do but I've certainly known men who pressure for it and I'm guessing it's only got worse in the years since I was dating.

This article suggests women are unknowingly entering into something that can cause serious injuries.

I had a discussion a few years back about this subject with 15/16 year old dd that 14/15 year old ds2 ended up listening to

Dd cried, I think she wanted me to stop talking about bottoms...and sex 🤔

I didn't stop obviously

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:23

@HRTQueen do you not know the risk of anal tearing in child birth is something people can actively try to prevent?

Gosh something else we need to educate people about.

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:22

RufusthefIoraImissingreindeer · 13/08/2022 10:17

Really depends why the 25% have 'tried it'

Curiosity

Because a partner wanted them to

Does it matter

It proves it's not obscure as you previously claimed

HRTQueen · 13/08/2022 10:20

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:16

Not really

Thought we were trying to keep women from damaging their delicate anuses

More people damage their bumhole from pushing a baby out then a dick going in.

Which on the most part is preventable too.

More ridiculously stupid comments

@TullyApplebottom

Yes, most modern drug education is around safety and facts

Not scare tactics

Again, showing your age here

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:16

HRTQueen · 13/08/2022 09:53

childbirth is necessary to keep the human race going

anal sex isn’t it’s a sex act some may enjoy

what a stupid point to make

Not really

@TullyApplebottom

As is 'anal sex can feel nice' the truth

So does taking lots of illegal drugs. And lots of people do that and emerge quite unscathed.
perhaps you think we should tell kids that too?

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:14

RicottaAndBlueCheese · 13/08/2022 10:01

Agreed @Silverfinch yet, they long to educate the next generation on obscure matters, it's frankly bizarre.

Obscure matters?

25% of women have tried anal sex. And that's the ones willing to admit it. As we have seen sadly there are still those out there on this planet who would shame them for doing so.

Hardly obscure

liloandstench · 13/08/2022 10:14

Depends who you're hanging out with, I suppose?

I have no idea, I don't usually start on about anal sex.

And we're talking about teen girls who can be vulnerable. Both no-debate and glorious positivity are detrimental.

RufusthefIoraImissingreindeer · 13/08/2022 10:14

You're calling women stupid, that wait to trust their partners before they have anal sex with them

I really don't think she is

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:12

@AdamRyan

Odd to use the term 'keep' there as this Is the first I've mentioned child birth on this thread

And the risks of tearing can be minimised when giving birth

As can the risks of anal sex

Those are both facts

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 10:11

Most advocate for balanced education

Just telling children something is bad doesn't help. It's the 'get pregnant and die' fallacy

People need to have all information available to make informed consent. Not just the positives seen in porn or the scare tactics many on here are advocating for either.

“Get pregnant and die” is a lie.
”anal sex carries risk” is the truth.
someone needs a bit of education about what education actually is, don’t they

Crikeyalmighty · 13/08/2022 10:12

Getting back to the OP- the big issue isnt whether some women on here like it up the arse and do/don't know the appropriate risks- it's that porn culture is leading young men to think it's no big deal, requires no extra care and that all women should be up for it and if you aren't- well you are a bit of a bore stopping them getting their jollies anyway they choose. My son is 24 and we have never had a conversation specifically about it- he's a sharp cookie and very aware of the score though around consent in any kind of sex and a very respectful lad towards women . I think it better to have generalised conversations around consent, porn and the fact not all women are up for anything at any time. I think the problem is many parents don't even have those , never mind discussions on anal sex. I think my son would have died of embarrassment to be honest and thought I was bloody weird

If you could read as well as you can rant you would have spotted that I am arguing for education. Explain to young people that this is risky activity and there is no “safe” way to do it.

I'm with you @TullyApplebottom but somehow I don't think that warning young people about the physical and mental health risks of anal sex is what pp who bang on about anal sex education have in mind.

In her day men used it as a way to 'punish' their wives and it seemed relatively widespread among her friends, Co-workers and her army of Avon ladies

Horrible😥

Wow. What an idiotic post. I'm baffled at you.I said that I would have anal sex with someone that I trusted . And you said that was stupid.

You're calling women stupid, that wait to trust their partners before they have anal sex with them. You are bizarre.

I would much rather have anal sex with a man that I trust.
Before I had anal sex, I talked with the man for a long time about it, we agreed boundaries, we agreed that if it hurt me he would stop. Yes I trusted him and it made the experience really good

Another one who can’t read. What is stupid is suggesting that an act which carries risk of physical harm becomes not risky if you do it with someone you trust. That’s utter bollocks.
if you feel the risks worth running, that(and any consequences) is on you. Good luck with it, but don’t suggest it’s fine to impressionable young people

RicottaAndBlueCheese · 13/08/2022 10:10

liloandstench · 13/08/2022 10:02

I thought anal sex was rampant, now it's obscure?

Depends who you're hanging out with, I suppose?

Mooshamoo · 13/08/2022 10:10

Calling me "beyond stupid". What a horrible post. Did you get your bullying out of the way now for today. Feel better ?

Mooshamoo · 13/08/2022 10:09

TullyApplebottom · 13/08/2022 07:31

The point being made is that the physical risk involved in an act does not disappear or lessen because you happen to have positive feelings about the other participant, and it’s beyond stupid to suggest it does. I’m sorry you didn’t manage to grasp that, but I hope it’s clear now.

There is a huge gulf between making someone (usually female) choke and consented, prepared for and planned anal sex; l don’t think we should combine the two.

With skill and preparation anal can be pleasant as a once in a while change. Anal is nothing new and was depicted in collages in Ancient Greece and Rome, including the bathhouses. It really does require discussion and communication between those involved and someone you can trust. Porn is acting, so is James Bond, but the former is often bad acting. As in a lot of matters sexual it shows wrong techniques, if you can call it that, gives the wrong signals to young males and belittles females.

Should someone try to choke me, they would go through the bedroom window.

😂*Pol, is Sunglasses your kid? Or spouse? Either way, you've definitely got a avid follower of the crusade. Doggedly loyal.

AdamRyan · 13/08/2022 10:04

PollyRockets · 13/08/2022 09:49

So does child birth

In fact there is a significantly higher risk of tearing with child birth than anal sex

Do you propose teaching children to never get pregnant?

I'm very confused as to why you keep equating tears/damage due to childbirth with tears/damage due to anal sex.

Yes childbirth is risky. It can't be made safe. However without childbirth the human race would die out, and as animals we have an innate drive to reproduce. Not having children is not a feasible solution to childbirth injuries.

Anal sex is something people choose to do - we don't have an innate drive for buses. Educating people to avoid anal sex as a way to minimise risk of anal injuries has no effect whatsoever on the human race.

It's very interesting that the discussion is about "shaming" and how much fun anal is.

It's arguable how "fun" anal actually is given as stated upthread not that many people do it. In any case though, lots of harmful activities are fun- that's why people do them even though they are risky. I'm interested as to why we think we should educate teenagers about how to enjoy risky sex "safely" - it seems different to other high risk activities.

So for example, we don't educate teenagers on safe ways to procure and take heroin. That's fun though, and people use it so the horse has bolted. If we advocated the same approach you are suggesting for heroin as anal, we'd educate children how to take it safely and make it their lookout if that went wrong.

We don't educate children how to minimise the risks of smoking - we tell them smoking is harmful and to avoid it, we make it difficult and prohibitively expensive to smoke. If we used the approach you advocate, we'd tell them they could die of cancer but not increase the price of cigarettes and slap graphic warnings on the packets to make them ashamed.

You can tell children things are risky, harmful and best avoided without "shaming" them. We do it all the time for lots of things, why is anal different?

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2022 10:04

Agreed @Silverfinch yet, they long to educate the next generation on obscure matters, it's frankly bizarre.

But the whole of this thread is that it's being 'normalised' and 'expected' because of exposure to porn'.

hang on .

It's not about 'longing to educate' it's about educating to protect.
