Kitchen Inventory?!

Shamelessly posting here for traffic having just bought 4 tins of baked beans at the supermarket and coming home to find 6 already in my cupboard.

AIBU to ask how you keep track of what's in your kitchen!? Is there a good app!? If it's cheaper than the cost of 4 tins of baked beans it'll be worth it!

I do an online shop at work in my lunch break so we have phases. Dh will mention, please stop buying beans/passata/shreddies/pasta because I’ve started putting them in the garage!!! I’m rubbish but I’m not on a tight budget so it’s fine. Previously, when on a budget, I would have looked rather than try to order from memory.

we have a larder and when we need something topped up or replaced, we write it on a post it that's on the inside of the cupboard door. We then add it to the shopping list.

6 tins of beans would last no time here so i'd have no problems with that though !

we also try to do meal plans and make sure we have all of the ingredients.

I just have a quick look in the fridge and cupboards before I go shopping and jot down a list!

I use the Sainsbury's online shopping app. Even if I'm not going to do an online order, it's good for keeping track of the things I need when I'm popping to the shops.

Always have my phone on me, so when something runs out I immediately add it to the online basket - ready made shopping list!

I’ve seen a perpetual shopping list somewhere online before. It’s a list of all the basics and you flip the peg up next to the item if you need it.

I don't use all of her stuff, but Flylady has a sort of inventory / shopping list system that you might be able to adapt? Step 7/8 work together

I cleared out my kitchen cupboards during the last lockdown and discovered 6 jars of horseradish. You stand more chance of using your baked beans.

I keep a list on the fridge, to which I add items as I use the last, or nearly the last, of items ... Paper and pencil

Same here. You don't need an app to have a shopping list!

I have a quick glance in the cupboards before I go shopping to see what I need. I thought everyone did this??

I can't often remember what I went upstairs for let alone what I have in a cupboard before I go to the supermarket 25 minutes away!

I keep a list on the fridge, to which I add items as I use the last, or nearly the last, of items. If I have a recipe in mind, I'll check that I have all the ingredients. Paper and pencil; painfully low-tech, I know, but it is cheap!

Have a look before you go?
