Strength in numbers. Well to Anna Wharton and the other 2 brave mums that have exposed him. There must be more ..

I wonder if anymore from that era will come out of the woodwork? Its a band thing the opportunities are endless from the women that work in the business to the fans that hang around afterwards? Vile behaviour.

I only thought they were one hit wonders as well. I think I saw them supporting Oasis at some point. Such egos.

wanttomarryamillionaire · 18/11/2021 22:27

Reading that made me feel sick. It could have been written about my ex husband.

3scape · 18/11/2021 22:16

Lies and lies and lies. There are honest men out there but why do so many have this "pity me" MO

RJnomore1 · 18/11/2021 22:05

Fair point!

deeedeee · 18/11/2021 22:00

You should contact Anna snoopy, add to the solidarity!

It's not really a "denial", given he doesn't really deny it, more just says he doesn't like the words she uses to describe it. And then asks people to think about the children. Which he obviously hasn’t.

I see star shaped club and shed seven hsve cut him adrift. Meanwhile the guardian has published his denial.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 18/11/2021 21:17

I read that blog earlier, horrible, horrible but unsurprising behaviour.

There is a small music venue locally who posted it along with a message to say that they would not book him again and had written to his agent to let them know why.

RJnomore1 · 18/11/2021 21:15

I’m a big bluestones fan but he’s always come across as totally loving himself since the 90s. He is absolutely immaculate and for 50 aging extremely well but there’s always been something about a man with that level of immaculate presentation that slightly turns me off. Having said that, he was never my type - I just like the music.

So at the end of a slightly self centred rant there, sorry about that, I’m not entirely surprised he turned out to be a twat and lead singers often have narcissistic tendencies (not condoning any of that btw) but I’m truly shocked he’s violent.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/11/2021 21:09

This could be my story with my ex (without the musician bit).

Horrible

Snoopylunchbox · 18/11/2021 21:08

@deeedeee

Snoopylunchbox, so sorry to hear that you were a victim of this horrible man too Flowers

So he hit on you when his daughter was a baby?

Thank you. Totally not looking for sympathy though - my experience is absolutely nothing compared with what he's subjected these other women to.

Yes, she would have been only a year or so. He told me that he'd split up with Anna due to her abusive behaviour of him, and that she continued to make his life a misery. It was not that much longer after this that he and Anna got married, so I figured out then that he clearly hadn't been entirely truthful about how over they were and how terrible she was.

Massively in awe of Anna and these two other women telling their story. I bet there are countless other women with the same story as me.

Sparkletree · 18/11/2021 20:53

Bloody hell, I love(d) the Bluetones. So so disappointed. What an utter scumbag.

deeedeee · 18/11/2021 20:49

That’s the thing with this sort of man. How can they be so charismatic and charming and write such beautiful melodies and lyrics that speak of love and have such hideous souls? And why does our culture fucking canonise them? Rabbie Burns I’m looking at you.

I think it’s wrong to say he’s unattractive. Not that it’s the pertinent part of this thread. But he’s not bad looking.

I just read Anna’s article and I believe every word. Absolutely shameful that anyone can do what he did to her and those other women. I’m also gutted that some seriously formative years in my life were got through to a soundtrack of bluetones songs. Now all absolutely ruined for me. I’ve got CDs made for me by an ex with songs that sounded like they’d been written for me. Splitting with him was so bittersweet and knowing that the man singing those songs was such a vile narcissistic twat is making me feel sad.

LimitIsUp · 18/11/2021 20:35

Also don't think you deserved a mauling for a throw away comment that might have been a little tone deaf but doesn't warrant quite so much censure

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2021 20:30

Thanks @BruiserWoods just because I questioned his attractiveness doesn't mean I condone his behaviour.

AFS1 · 18/11/2021 20:26

Used to be a fan. Not after reading this.
I once got off with the guitarist. Later found out he was in a long-term relationship at the time, so cheating clearly runs in the band.

@JaneJeffer

I don't know what they saw in him Confused
Well, I clearly agree with you, posted my post before I saw you were hung drawn and quartered, but part of being love bombed is the attraction. The men who love bombed me, I thought they were attractive. It's what makes it all so toxic. They know that. They play on it.
BruiserWoods · 18/11/2021 20:13

I had to google him,. He's no oil painting.

Still, I've been love bombed by a narcissist so .................. not judging anybody taken in by his staggering works of great fiction.

Sprostongreen21 · 18/11/2021 20:11

I’ve seen the bluetones and him solo over the years. He was a good frontman. He and the band have a very loyal following even in recent times and they and him are quite active still. I can imagine some of these fans being flattered by his attention.

He sounds like an awful man. No excuses. Glad they’ve got their stories together and out so he can’t gas light them any longer. .

Snoopylunchbox · 18/11/2021 20:09

Yeah, me. I didn't write this quote from Anna's blog, but I could have done - word for word:

I was involved with your ex, only for a few weeks, a number of years ago. I remember him telling me that he had a baby daughter with his ex so that might help work out chronology. Embarrassingly, I was one of these women who got chatting to him at one of his gigs and was a bit flattered by the attention since I was a ‘fan’. I feel quite ashamed about that now.

He told me at length about his 'crazy ex', and all the cruel ways that she kept his baby daughter from him. I'd just got out of an abusive and controlling relationship, and I thought we 'bonded' over our shared experiences. I was telling the truth about mine.

The other details in Anna's blog are sickening. What a vile man.

deeedeee · 18/11/2021 19:56

Womanising and cheating is abuse though.

It’s child abuse as well as spousal abuse. It causes trauma and toxicity that cascades through generations.

It’s hideous

@JunoMcDuff

Yeah I loved the bluetones. Seen them many times. Used to fancy the pants off Mark, and he's very charming and charismatic. Not at all surprised he's a womaniser and a cheat but surprised about the abuse - I believe her though. Won't be listening to them again.
Yeah exactly this.
