My Molton Brown shower gel smells like poo and worse.

Aibu to think Jasmin and Sun Rose shower gel from Molton Brown smell like faeces and urine. Sniffed straight from the bottle, not unpleasant but once foamed all over the body it becomes a whole different olfactory experience. I chucked a buff puff away thinking maybe DH had used it to clean his arse again Grin but it is definitely the shower gel . Can’t even bring myself to sniff my fingers now. Blush

Nice to see this thread again . I don’t think the poo smell lingered after I showered . Your Mum is probably best left enjoying her memories of her Mum.
And don’t forget your shower gel next time . 😆

It's not covid. I've been staying with my parents for the last week and forgot my shower gel so went to use the one in the shower...Molton Brown's Jasmine and Sun Rose. The user who described it as "using a cubicle after a heavily perfumed woman has done a shit", has it spot on. Unfortunately it's the Jasmine, which now I've researched it, can often smell a bit like poo. I had no idea this was a thing until I googled "poo smell, Molton Brown" (avoiding putting the rather appropriate brand name first, for obvious reasons) and was immediately met with people talking about this exact fragrance. However I have an issue... i'd been thinking for the past few days about whether I should mention something to my mum about her shower gel, as I would personally want to know so I could throw it and use another one, however she's quite sensitive, and I was worried it would upset her.....but I also don't want her to smell like poo. Tricky.
I was about to tell her this evening but before I could say anything she said she likes the shower gel because "it reminds her of her gran". So it would no longer simply be a little heads up to maybe get a different shower gel but rather a quite unfortunate insult of her dead granny. So please please tell me what I should do??? She wouldn't want to smell like poo but she might hate me if I tell her. Help!

This reminds me of the trees in Majorca that smell of spunk and blackcurrant lemsips that smell like cats piss.

My neighbour had a jasmine bush that sprawls over our fence (it's beautiful) but when it's in full bloom I always have a day or so of "why does the whole garden smell of fox piss?" Before remembering it's the jasmine (this has been happening for 8 years now).

My colleague likes jasmine and rose water scents. When she has just spritzed herself I can’t stand near her because I think she has just either shit or pissed herself ... or maybe she has and covering it up?

I’ve always thought Shalimar smells like nice fly spray. I still like it though.
I love Shalimar... but now you come to mention it yes, yes it does Blush Oh well, no flies on Beery Grin

I’ll make sure to sniff the jasmine samples next time I’m out OP for possible 💩 notes

This thread is reminding me of the indescribable smell that greeted me on opening my shed door earlier today. There's a sack of potatoes in there, and it appears that some of the ones near the bottom have rotted.

Jasmine indoles=poo
Anything with Oudh unless it's a microscopic account= even worse than poo
Anything with cumin notes= BO.

I think rose scented stuff smells like poo.

In other news I blew my nose on a new loo roll the other day and it smelt of vomit. Had to Chuck all 4 rolls away. Yuck. Dread to think why.

Well maybe it’s a case of my poo smells like roses!

Apparently if you add real poo to jasmine it cancels out the smell

Omg I was given the exact same shower gel for Christmas and it smells disgusting. So glad it’s not just me. 🤮

I’m using in my shower at the moment and whilst not my favourite version Milton brown do, I rather like it, no horrid smells for me!

Yep, as others have said jasmine is well known for smelling toilety. I don't suffer from this but its very common.

Haha a dear relative has a perfume that smells exactly like strong, stale wee. But only to me. Everyone else thinks it's ok. She's been wearing it for about 20 years and every time she spritzes it on, it reminds me of club toilets at 3am.

I liked it. Smelled a bit Chanel 5ish. Quite weak though. Thought it'd be stronger. Didn't remind me of fanjo particularly.

It's just the indoles - also found in decomposing organic matter, including corpses and poop. Some people are nauseated by jasmine because of this.
