Ok I know this is pathetic, but when a friend doesn’t like your posts but likes others

I know it’s needy and pathetic, but normally if someone didn’t like my stuff I’d think of maybe they’ve not been on fb etc

But one of my friends hasn't liked any of my stuff for ages
Yet I know she still must like me because she’s always messaging me on what’s app and asking to get together etc

My posts are only very tame like the kids pumpkins etc
And a couple of half term activities

Yet I see her liking and commenting on other people’s posts basically the same sort of posts as mine and I think why do you ignore mine ?
Esp when she comments and likes people’s things of people I know she’s actually not that keen on in real life

I guess there’s a chance she might not see mine
I don’t know how the algorithm works

But I’ve now stopped liking hers too

Do you regret blocking them now? I know a lot of people regret taking the jab. My mother thanks me every day for warning her about the side effects.

Christ alive to your reply and anyway IT'S A ZOMBIE THREAD

CoffeeCantata · 05/12/2023 16:38

This is why I'm not on FB or on WhatsApp, and never have been.

Just another eg of how toxic social media is. It causes so much petty offence and upset.

AttentionDeficitAndScrewed · 05/12/2023 14:36

Maybe she doesn't because she thinks it's banal if she talks about this stuff to you in real life. So for.example I often don't send birthday wishes on group chats if I've spoken to the person on the phone or in person..similarly if someone has mentioned something to me in real.life I probably wouldn't comment again on social media. One of my best friends is on the same school parents group as I am and I don't reply to her messages usually because if I wanted to say something I would do it privately. Maybe your friend only comments on or likes posts of people she doesn't know well.

And I totally ignore dh's messages in any group chats. Never respond to them. It would seem weird.

To the person saying "grow up" - in a completely childish and so immature it's cringey matter. Children deserve better examples. Cringe, cringe, cringe. Takes no emotional maturity and zero emotional regulation to bark "grow up"....just the worst example.

Verv · 01/11/2023 14:25

My partner and best friend never show up on my feed, I have to go find them both.
End result - if I havent stalked them in a month I havent liked anything of theirs in a month.
I talk to my partner every day and my mate at least twice a week.

Facebook means nothing, it's not real life.

Your friend IS definitely seeing your posts. This is a case of "familiarity breeding contempt". She finds the attention you seek/get on social media, annoying or is jealous.

Or at least she was 3 years ago.

Time to ditch the social media.

XenoBitch · 18/08/2023 23:29

Some of my closest friends, and my own boyfriend... for some reason their posts never show on my FB feed. I have to search for them, and go directly to their page to see them.
It is annoying, and makes me wonder what else I have missed from other people. But I don't have the time or patience to search for everyone.
It is probably due to some algorithm thing.

Haha, just had this situation yesterday and I was googling if I was being a little bitch about it and I found this thread lol. There’s more to the story of course, the IG thing was just what made me just blow up 😂 🫠😒😩

SouthwarkSwish · 29/12/2022 18:59

@MiamiJeweler - why resurrect a 2 year old thread FFS

jesseastmids · 29/12/2022 18:59

Noooo yanbu OP its petty when people do this, Most likely you have mildly pissed her off so this is her "revenge"

CallMeRachel · 29/12/2022 18:57

This is one of the damaging things about social media. The fakery of friendships and pretence that life is wonderful- look at the amazing activities I’m doing with my perfect children…
it gets too much for some people.

One of my fb pals constantly posted stuff about animal abuse and particularly the China dog meat trade, I had to completely unfollow her as it was affecting my mental health seeing all the awful things. She will well be wondering why I don’t like or comment on any of her photos or posts anymore- I don’t see anything now, by choice. Others I find relentlessly try hard and show offy, I unfollow them too.

If she’s meeting up with you in real life then that’s all that matters, stop focusing on the fake reality that is FB.

MiamiJeweler · 29/12/2022 18:48

I dont know, I actually just had an argument with a “close friend” who always says “he is never on IG”, yet he always likes his homies’s posts (everything from selfies to tacky “inspiration” posts), but he never likes mine. Fine. The other day though I made a post congratulating him and his fiancé on getting engaged, how they are good people, meant for each other. I didnt tag them, and didnt expect him to react it. Yesterday I see he reposted several of his homies’s posts congratulating him, but not mine. That pissed me off. Social media is very much part of a lot of people’s daily lives, and if he cant be bothered to even acknowledge anything I post, even a congratulatory post, TO ME just means he doesnt care, which fine, you don’t care enough to. The signs are on the wall always, we try and make excuses for people (as I did with him for a while), but if you are active on social media, you notice who is engages with your posts, and who is isnt. If a good friend, who first of all lies about “never checking his IG”, cant bother to acknowledge what you post (especially if it’s life accomplishments, goals met etc), but likes other bs posts, then they just dont care, and there is an uneven give and take there.

you judgmental mfers who arent active on social media and think it’s lame, Im sure there are people who you’d be upset at is they dont text you back, or answer/return your calls, or other form of communication.

ForeverAintEnough · 03/12/2020 13:40

My god grow up. Maybe she thought the other peoples pumpkins were more imaginative than yours? So she liked their and not yours. Are you not allowed to only like things you genuinely like now? You have to like everything your friends put up or you don’t like them???? Christ. Get a life!!!

I couldn’t tell you who has or hasn’t like anything I post. I don’t care. I couldn’t handle being friends with you - oh @Lardlizard has posted again I have to like it ASAP or she’ll get a complex.

Witchofthedales · 03/12/2020 13:32

I just mute them. What's good for the goose and all that.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 04/11/2020 14:41

I have a friend who posts inane stuff constantly., so I've unfollowed her. I just don't want my newsfeed clogged up with shite from the one person tbh, nothing to do with her as a person!

amusedbush · 04/11/2020 14:27

@Lardlizard

Only thing I think she can get jealous of is people that are financially comfortable Which I certainly don’t flaunt
I have a friend who likes most of my posts but there is a clear pattern of her not liking specific posts. Any time anything good happens in my life (passing my degree, posting a touristy photo on holiday, moving house, etc) she won't like it.

It's weird though - when we met we were young and we had very different ideas of what we wanted from our lives. We have both since achieved what we'd each hoped for so it can't be jealousy. Meh, who knows?
