We think he is holding back to let BJ really cock things up and attacking too hard at a difficult time might not play well. But eventually he will unleash. God I would not be keen to have to argue with a flipping QC day in day out. BJa little heart must have sunk when KS got the job know mine would. Bad enough having dh as a litigator he wins every argument and he is nowhere near KS level!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/06/2020 17:50

I prefer this photo!

I do have a bit of a thing for very good barristers generally, it has to be said (lawyer, I'm not up in court regularly!).

Starmer comes across as intelligent, thoughtful, precise, compassionate and generally a good bloke (see his pro bono cases etc). What's not to like, personality-wise?

I don't find him wooden or nasally, and he's certainly not posh (odd that a Tory would use posh as an insult, mind you!).

As for who scores better at PMQs? It's not blustering BoZo, that's for sure!

@Fizzydrinks123

couldn't vote for someone supporting self-id which sabotages long fought for women's rights to safe spaces.

Starmer is a big supporter of self-id policy Corbyn stood on. Bit of a worry that people may be distracted by the messenger when the message is still the same.

Thanks for the info @Fizzydrinks123

The phone call, which Downing St had to this afternoon clarify, was with all party Leaders not just KS.

Tomorrowsanewday · 03/06/2020 17:40

He always has a rabbit caught in the headlights look about him but I do like his monotonous voice. It sends me to sleep in no time.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/06/2020 17:40

@MarshaBradyo he really is very calm and smooth. I appreciate his past as QC has probably taught him that talent but he's a credible opposition so far at a time when the Tories need to be held accountable.

IntermittentParps · 03/06/2020 17:40

And came off sounding like a whiny wiener.
Grin

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/06/2020 17:38

@IntermittentParps I paraphrased but yep, he moaned that KS hadn't mentioned those questions on their earlier phone call. And came off sounding like a whiny wiener.

IntermittentParps · 03/06/2020 17:36

He didn't tell me on the phone beforehand he was going to ask those questions".

Did he seriously say that? Shock Fuck me, how embarrassing. Can you imagine Thatcher saying that? Or Johnson's god Churchill?

MarshaBradyo · 03/06/2020 17:33

Suspect KS hasn't even got out of first gear yet.

Yep a cake walk so far, bet he’s lethal when he has to be. He’s very good against Johnson’s blustering.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 03/06/2020 17:31

Who, Boris Johnson? Totally agree grin

Starmer reels off a list of questions in that odd nasally way he has while Johnson makes him look an utter fool.

Unsure if you've been watching a different PMQ's or are just spectacularly drunk. Either way you're wrong. I'm not particularly enamoured with KS yet but BJ looked a complete blustering baby during todays questions "he didn't tell me on the phone beforehand he was going to ask those questions". Suspect KS hasn't even got out of first gear yet.

MarshaBradyo · 03/06/2020 17:26

I’ve just scanned the thread and it seems he has a face that looks like many others. Wonder if he gets it irl.

I can’t decide. I like him and think he’s good looking but there’s something on top that takes a bit of the ooh out.

aquashiv · 03/06/2020 17:21

Johnson makes himself a complete tool he needs no one's help.

NameChangerinDespair · 03/06/2020 17:12

Totally with you, OP: he is a little sleek now, with his middle-aged spread.

CoconutMacaroon · 03/06/2020 17:06

@Monstermuncher

I love how he is in completed control at PMQs. That competence is, as someone else has already said, very attractive. Rocks a suit as well. It's a yes from me.

wasnotwasweregood · 03/06/2020 16:58

Anyone else think he looks like he could be Shaun Evans's (Endeavour) Uncle?

ITonyah · 03/06/2020 16:52

@Lottapianos

'It's pretty obvious that BoJo wanted to have the MPs back in the Commons so he could have the support of his friends behind him cheering him on.'

Just like any crap little bully

Who is he bullying, exactly?

my favourite favourite quote about Keir Starmer is that he looks like someone ironed Gordon Ramsey's face

To be fair, Gordon Ramsey's face would benefit from a good ironing.

grannyhorse · 03/06/2020 16:09

He always looks lightly sedated

pollyhampton · 03/06/2020 16:00

Sorry if it's been mentioned already but my favourite favourite quote about Keir Starmer is that he looks like someone ironed Gordon Ramsey's face.

Laiste · 03/06/2020 15:55

@Sparklingbrook - i'm with you on the max headroom thing. I was thinking it and then saw your post.

but i think we're showing our age Grin

Lemonyfuckit · 03/06/2020 14:21

@Fizzydrinks123 eurrrgh that is so disappointing. Whilst he didn't seem as outspoken as Long-Bailey and Nandy on this I did wonder whether he was just hedging his bets and trying to appeal to all camps, whilst hoping that he would be more gender critical. Well, now I can only hope that as the general public becomes slowly slowly slightly more aware of this stuff, he too may change his views. I've been facing a dilemma on who to vote for anyway (although realise there's unlikely to be a GE for 4 yrs and even a week is a long time in politics) as feel like the only party not pro self-ID at the moment is the Conservatives, and I'm never going to vote for them!
