I’ve been furloughed so I’m watching far too much Netflix.

Anyway, I’ve just binged Life on Mars and I’m now on Ashes to Ashes, and can I just say that Gene Hunt makes me swoon. To quote a mumsnet classic, he gives me the fanny gallops!

I don’t even care if I’m being unreasonable Grin

Ironically the initials of You Are not alone spells YANA. These were the words Face of Boe used in Doctor Who , in the episode of which John Sim aka Sam Tyler, becomes the Master .
After watching Life on Mars I can see how he got the role of The Master.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 20:15

@Wishihadanalgorithm You are not alone .

Mwnci123 · 30/04/2020 20:15

I can see that:

maddiemookins16mum · 30/04/2020 20:15

Yep, and he had hoops for tea.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 20:14

I almost gave up as well as found it weird

I persevered though and so glad I did . I have now watched LoM twice in a short time . One on my smaller screen and one on the TV as its on Netflix now. Ashes to Ashes is on Sky and also on Britbox but I don't have Britbox now.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/04/2020 20:13

And he's not a 70s throwback - it is the 70s!

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/04/2020 20:12

Yes, yes it is!

ShowOfHands · 30/04/2020 20:11

But it's the master with no doctor and some smarmy misogynistic 70s throwback. Really? It's going to improve?

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/04/2020 20:10

Showy, I wasn't sure at first but soon got hooked - persist!

Willow2017 · 30/04/2020 20:09

Hells Bells Yes!

Fuss · 30/04/2020 20:07

Should I carry on?

GOOD GOD YES!!!!!

Flibbitygibbit · 30/04/2020 20:03

I would 😜

ShowOfHands · 30/04/2020 19:58

I watched episode one of LoM yesterday and didn't like it at all. Should I carry on?

Fuss · 30/04/2020 19:57

I'm rewatching Life on Mars as well, forgot how good it was. Can't get past how young John Simm looks in it though.

Also, Dean Andrews has amazing eyes.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/04/2020 19:56

Bet on a date with him you'd ask him back for Nescafé and after the second blue nun he'd go 'enough chitchat' pick you up, sling you over his shoulder and march off upstairs.

Something similar happened to me once. Not with Gene Hunt but he was a detective.
And manly Grin

pandarific · 30/04/2020 19:50

It's definitely the striding! Why is there no striding any more?!

Bet on a date with him you'd ask him back for Nescafé and after the second blue nun he'd go 'enough chitchat' pick you up, sling you over his shoulder and march off upstairs.

day dreams

missmouse101 · 30/04/2020 19:46

Fworrrrrrrrr! Me too! He's gorgeous, striding around in that big coat, all blue eyed and chunky. Oh yes please! Grin

pandarific · 30/04/2020 19:44

You should all watch True Detective! Two Mans Men in the Deep South, solving crimes.

Woody Harrelson and Mathew McConaughey - god damn.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 30/04/2020 19:44

Gotta love the Gene genie.

The very last episode of Ashes to Ashes really upset me and left me feeling sad for ages. No spoilers but just wondered if I was alone in this.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 30/04/2020 19:37

Phillip Glenister AND Gene Hunt are on my list.

laminated and everything, I'd make that man 'oops any hour of the day or night.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Blush

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 30/04/2020 19:31

This thread was made for me! Grin

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 19:19

I was watching a True Crime documentary series on Sky the other night and its presented by Phillip Glenister . Having only seen him in the above I was actually shocked to hear that he does not have a Northern accent . He was so convincing I thought he actually was a Manc

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 19:18

Haha at I'm aving Oops.

He had some great lines.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 30/04/2020 19:17

@GrimDamnFanjo Grin

I have watched Life on Mars and I love it . There actually were people like Gene Hunt around and into the 80s (as shown on Ashes to Ashes) but their time was coming to an end .

I do find him quite attractive in Life on Mars despite his obnoxious toxic personality . I suppose because I have known men like him (me being a Generation X Just about) . Not that they are usually my type of man.

JoJothesquirrel · 30/04/2020 19:06

Omg yes. If you ignore what he’s actually saying his voice makes my pants ping.
“You standing there, holding that is making me Randy” jings.
I couldn’t be bothered with the time travel shit just the cops would be fine. And have less creepy dream/clown secqences.
