I’ve been furloughed so I’m watching far too much Netflix.

Anyway, I’ve just binged Life on Mars and I’m now on Ashes to Ashes, and can I just say that Gene Hunt makes me swoon. To quote a mumsnet classic, he gives me the fanny gallops!

I don’t even care if I’m being unreasonable Grin

I would love it if they could come back and do a 90s version!

MinnieAnonyMouse · 11/05/2020 20:50

Oh lordy... now I'm gonna have to rewatch.

He could arrest me all night long.

IndieTara · 11/05/2020 20:06

I'm just having to re binge watch Life on Mars

alittlerespectgoesalongway · 11/05/2020 19:54

It's the relationship between gene hunt and sam tyler I find fascinating. What is that? Sam reacts strangely to his aggression. Almost loves it? At the same time as hating it? Mesmerising.

missmouse101 · 10/05/2020 17:49

Fworrrrrrrrr! Does he know Gene Hunt had such an effect?!

elenacampana · 09/05/2020 16:16

Gene Hunt is imo the best character to ever hit British TV. He’s just... just!

NewMinouMinou · 09/05/2020 16:09

My fave bit is when GH says to ST, when they’re agreeing that they’re both right about sth they’re disagreeing on:
“Aye. Just as long as I’m more right than you.”

DP insists, after seeing this, that if I was a bloke I’d be Gene Hunt.

Figgygal · 08/05/2020 22:54

Loved ashes to ashes
Pg was definitely sexy

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 08/05/2020 22:52

He's a very good actor and has a certain charisma as Gene Hunt, but I don't find him at all attractive physically. He's fun to watch in these shows, but I'd steer clear of someone like him in real life.

MintyCedric · 08/05/2020 22:52

Fab...I'll check it out.

My nephew used to be at nursery with Phillip G's son but I've never watched any of them.

Fuss · 08/05/2020 22:47

Life on mars first minty.

MintyCedric · 08/05/2020 22:40

Do I need to watch Life on Mars or Ashes to Ashes first?

Given that my current detective crush is a one-legged, chain smoking commitmentphobe I suspect I'd like Gene Hunt.

dalrympy · 08/05/2020 22:13

I've just binged the lot and OMG with bells on.

Agree that the chemistry between Gene and Alex is next level.

He's on my list. MINE MINE MINE

It a rare day that I come over all sweaty at the sight of a man but bloody Nora.....

Thankssomuch · 08/05/2020 07:50

As PPs have said - Ray’s eyes. WOW

missmouse101 · 05/05/2020 19:48

Excellent, Funko!

Funko · 05/05/2020 15:42

Just here to add this dream scene from ashes to ashes Grin

WingingItSince1973 · 04/05/2020 17:50

@wishihadanalogarithm I'm hoping spelt it right now 🤣

WingingItSince1973 · 04/05/2020 17:48

@iwishihadanalogarythm felt exactly the same. Even years later I'm still trying to work it out 🤣

Taylia · 04/05/2020 13:47

Love PG as Gene Hunt.

Also love his brother Robert in the hustle series as Ash ‘two socks’ Morgan

Fuss · 04/05/2020 12:39

@MaggieFS he was lovely in Last Tango in Halifax as well.
I met the actor who plays Chris Skelton in our local shopping Center once. You know you do that thing where you know a face and you think it’s probably someone you were at school with so you say ‘hi! How are you?’
That.
DH was chuckling to himself all afternoon.
Can confirm he was a lovely bloke though.

3rdNamechange · 04/05/2020 09:16

I've now downloaded the first series and start watching today.
A Zoom chat with friends confirmed the opinions , he is lush.

MaggieFS · 04/05/2020 09:12

I watched the final of series one last night and tried to see Gene Hunt in a different light, but just couldn't.

@Fuss nailed it that it's Ray's eyes though Smile

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 02/05/2020 12:42

Good they removed that post of mine so I will add here what was on there (along with what might have been a spoiler for the poster who has not seen LoM yet)

Re the Gene Hunt babysitting and changing nappies I can actually see it but he would no doubt whinge and groan and moan but when alone with said baby or children I think he would do just fine .

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 01/05/2020 23:35

Awww shit Sorry Maaa
I will ask MN to delete
