I take DS to swimming. I got the times wrong turned up for the wrong lesson. I decide to go back to the changing room to wait. I find it hard to breath in the pool area, 30 minutes is ok, an hour and I can feel my asthma begin to act up.

There is a dad there getting his daughters dressed (fine) he was in the pool and he's down to his underwear.

Another dad arrives with his son, him and my DS are in the same lesson.

Anyways dad of daughters decides to get dressed... he drops his pants and is stark naked in front of his daughters. He is also by the door so if another parent was coming in their child would have walked into his penis! And it wasn't less than a minute because he was drying himself as well 🤢...

There are cubicles. He could have used a towel as well.

Why would and adult choose to get naked in a dressing room at a swim lesson for children with strangers around.

AIBU to find it bizarre?

His bum was also hairy and unattractive 🤢.

Meh - just getting changed - perhaps a bit thoughtless but maybe he Scandi / German or just a gym bunny used to getting changed in public places !

Elvesdontdomagic · 27/11/2019 08:49

You used a men's changing room with your 2 year old son? Normally women take toddler boys into the female changing rooms! When they're old enough to get changed alone they go into the men's by themselves.

YABVVVVU to complain of a naked male body in the men's changing room.

NameChangeNugget · 27/11/2019 08:43

Your behaviour is unacceptable.

NellieEllie · 27/11/2019 08:28

Oh my! I was with you OP, at the start. Our local swimming pool changing rooms are unisex. There is a communal bit as well as cubicles - generally used for parents helping young children change for lessons. I’ve NEVER seen an adult changing in the communal area and would have hated it if a man had disrobed while I was with my young children.

But, although it may be more appropriate for an adult man to change in a cubicle where other children are present, the story here is that a woman sat for 30mins in a men’s changing room. Not on. Just totally unacceptable.

If I were in the ladies and a man was watching me and my son get changed, a man who was just sat there, I would want the police called. Women are fighting like mad to keep our spaces female only and a safe space and then there's you. That man must have been horrified, wondering if you were perving over him or his daughters. If your asthma is so bad then speak to reception so you can sit out there and be called when the lesson's over. Or sit in the cafe with a book, don't sit in the men's changing rooms complaining about men's arses and penises being on display making other people uncomfortable.

You saved me posting!

I think the UK is one of the only countries in Europe where this would be seen a a big issue.

CherryPavlova · 27/11/2019 08:06

It’s very funny. An adult woman is upset that a man changes before swimming with his children.
If you weren’t looking you wouldn’t know his bottom was hairy. It’s a bit worrying and odd that you chose to sit in changing rooms.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 27/11/2019 08:01

@JoannaObrien I just asked my husband if he’d shave his for me and he said only if I shaved my moustache. Won’t be walking into his penis anytime soon Envy

JoannaObrien · 27/11/2019 07:57

@MrsFoxPlus4Again

I make my husband shave his hairy arse because it looks horrible.Wink

Whyareyouallcallingmemum · 27/11/2019 07:57

I hope this goes in classic threads
It's too funny

Crackerofdoom · 27/11/2019 07:50

OP can you see it from his point of view?
"I took my daughters to swimming and had to get changed too so I did. There was a woman in the changing who was neither getting changed, nor helping anyone else get changed and just seemed to be watching me get changed."

AIBU to expect that everyone just gets on with their business rather than sitting in the changing room when they are not using it for its purpose and watching me. I felt very objectified.

OR

Or if a man was sitting in the changing room waiting for his daughter watching the women get changed and passing judgement on their bodies because it was unattractive to him?!

I live in a country where changing rooms are communal and nudity is normalised. My kids will grow up having a good idea of what a normal adult body looks like and realise that there is noting shameful or dirty about the human body. He was not touching anyone, not getting gratification from getting changed and was just going about his business.

YABU

XXXXXX42 · 27/11/2019 07:48

I just my 8 year old and she knows which changing room you should have used.

I’m pretty sure your 2 year old (or other small kids) won’t be harmed by the sight of a naked body. We all have one! Little boys even have the same parts as a naked man!!! This is the reason no one worries which changing rooms kids under 8 use!

boomboom1234 · 27/11/2019 07:47

Maybe he thought it was odd that you sat in the changing room where people were getting changed for half an hour?

MurrayTheMonk · 27/11/2019 07:47

Is this thread a wind up?

Woman in a changing room that she shouldn't be in, is complaining about seeing someone using the room for its actual purpose and getting changed in it?

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 27/11/2019 07:47

The poor mans probably went home to his partner and a women watched him get undressed and looked at his hairy bum for 30 minutes

KnightandDay · 27/11/2019 07:45

I woke up to this gem🤣 I really can't understand why you thought you being in men's changing room was ok!
I don't for a minute believe you thought you should go into the changing room of the child's sex, was every other woman in the women's changing room with their daughters?? The packed to the rafters one??? Be honest, you just thought you were better than everyone else and shouldn't have to mix with the Great Unwashed.
If a man sat in the women's changing room looking at their "hairy bums", I'm telling you that all hell would break loose - even if they were there with their daughter!

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 27/11/2019 07:43

To be far if I was in that situation I’d rather see the back of him than the front, imagine you caught his glance whiles willy watching Shock

PineappleDanish · 27/11/2019 07:42

The most surprising thing about this thread is that the poster has managed to get to adulthood and be so totally unaware and oblivious to her attitudes being so nuts.

I used to take the kids swimming in a school pool, there were two teeny tiny changing rooms and a narrow corridor. So if it was raining I'd sit in the car, if dry I'd walk around the school playground for 30 minutes until it was time to go back. Why would it even cross your mind that it would be OK to sit in the MALE changing room, without your toddler??

Nowt so queer as folk.

Newbie1981 · 27/11/2019 07:41

Yeah, don't look that way is the general unspoken rule! I've seen millions of fannies but not really seen them because I don't look, if you see what I mean. He's no sticking it in your kids face so chill out

rwalker · 27/11/2019 07:40

HILAROUS can't believe you sit in a MEN's changing room and then complain when MEN get changed in there.
he'd turned his back so obviously not flashing his cock if I was him I would report you.
Can you imagine if it was the other way round a man went and sat in the women changing room he'd probably be arrested .

Glitterb · 27/11/2019 07:37

Tbh is it the worst thing in the world? Really? Probably a tad rude to comment on his appearance if I’m honest.
In my gym women often walk around in the buff around other peoples children who are getting ready for swimming lessons...personally I would get changed in a cubicle but I guess that’s there choice?

CosmoK · 27/11/2019 07:35

You're a woman in the men's changing room and you're complaining that you saw a naked man.
You are completely in the wrong.

Can you imagine if a man decided to just go and wait in the women's changing room?? Bloody hell the world has gone mad.

Moondancer73 · 27/11/2019 07:34

So you are a woman, going into the male changing room and you are moaning about seeing a bare, male, arse?🙄🤦‍♀️
Give your head a giant wobble - and stay in the women's changing next time!!
