To think some people have breath that smells like dog shit?

Cancer can cause this. Particularly lung cancer or oesophagus cancer. Obvious really considering that it’s decaying tissue.

There are a lot of very hygienic people that suffer with this issue. It's highly embarrassing and they've exhausted all medical avenues

Sure I once read that most people cannot smell their own breath. But a good indicator is to lick the back of your hand and then smell that?

Some poor sod at work has earned the unflattering nickname of maggotmouth as their breath is absolutely rancid. luckily they are unawares of their nickname.

Yes I've come across a few, and worked with someone who's breath smelt like they'd eaten the contents of a full ashtray washed down with gone off coffee. And they didn't even smoke.

The worst hygiene issue I've ever experienced from someone though is when... this is making me feel

I'm seated and the guy standing next to me was crotch facing me - that's bad enough but then he turned round so he was ass facing me and that's when the smell of shit started creeping in. When I had tonsillitis I could taste how bad it was - my tonsils were popping out tonsil stones and oozing with pus.

Tonsil stones- your colleague is probably more than likely aware of it if she brushes her teeth that often.

i paid to get my tonsils laser it was the best thing i ever did, use to have bad breath for years i went to a clinic in south london paid around £1200

i also use tung gel and a scraper
gargle with salt and tea tree oil
use a water flosser and floss with string
drink 2L of water a day
use tea tree mouthwash from holland and barret

@ShabbyAbby Mouthwash is crap. It just washes away all the work the toothpaste did. I recall my mouth feeling much fresher with just floss and brushing. Afterwards I spit without rinsing.

I usually find it with smokers. I work with three men who smoke and they all have the same breath.

Don't know if it's dry mouth or the fact the smoke sits in the back of the throat.

Whenever the topic of bad breath comes up, I'm reminded of one of my secondary school teachers. She was a lovely lady, and a great teacher, but OMG HER BREATH. We dreaded her coming near us to look at our work, or talk to us, because it was like something had died right next to us.
Unfortunately, her daughter was in my year group, and was in my friendship circle, so we could never talk about "Mrs Bad Breath" too openly, because we didn't want to upset our friend. But SURELY someone told this teacher eventually?!

Meat in large quantities, red wine and smoking seemed to cause it (not me but someone I lived with). Drinking water didn't really make much difference.

I used to have tonsil stones as a child up to late teens. I was so embarrassed as kids used to make fun of me. At the time the doctor has no idea what it was even though I brought it to her in a jar. That was before the internet gave you the answer to everything

My EXH had dreadful breath, despite regular brushing and visits to dentist.Couldn't bear to be too close to him.Turned out he was suffering from diverticulitis.Had an abscess, ended up having a Hartmanns procedure.Now his breath is fine.

There's a condition called TMAU which sufferers don't realise they have until they get bullied about it, since they can't always smell it themselves and their families are used to the scent.

After being bullied, they're hyperaware they have it but can't lock themselves in a tower and have to work and socialise. Pulling them to one to tell them to freshen up doesn't help as the smell doesn't go away
I'm just thinking the person you're talking about might have this because faeces is very specific to the condition, I've never caught a whiff of breath so bad it actually stunk of shit!

Here's a test for you to test your own breath.
Lick your wrist.... A long lick that ensures the saliva from the middle of your tongue coats you wrist while you lick it.

Leave it to air dry 3-5 minutes.

Now smell the sweet aroma.

Now tell me; does your own breath smell of roses? Get your friends to try for a % of who has lovely smelling breath.

Then think about the fact that we are as good as animals and as such will smell as such. Reality check time.

My ex was a coffee drinker and drank no water. His mouth was like the Sahara and he smelt of stale coffee. I think that's what put me off coffee come to think of it
I've noticed a particular smell from those who have lots of metal fillings. Sister, brother in law and an ex-friend. I can't describe it but it's not like poo. It's vile though.
Next day garlic breath is kind of sweet and foul and makes me want to run away if I'm on a train or bus with someone with it.
I have a very sensitive sense of smell combined with misophonia so I'm a nightmare.

I'm now paranoid about my own breath as I don't floss Tonight all I can taste is onions as for some stupid reason I thought I'd have raw onion on my veggie burger. It's a good job I sleep alone

I smell loads of people’s breaths, I think it’s more unusual to not have bad breath

I'm on medication that gives me dry mouth. I hope I don't have this, but fear I might. My interdental cleaning often smells rank and I worry that's what my breath smells like. I also regularly skip breakfast and have coffee instead. I use mouthwash and sugar free gum a lot and drink loads of water too, and never miss a dental visit. So not much I can do. I cannot change my meds.

I don’t know about shit-breath but someone I know smells so bad it makes me gag. Sort of a shit/sweaty vag smell. It’s not BO.
