Wasn't it also a Jane who that thread was about recently - the one about swearing? She was on Times Online saying mumsnetters should be ashamed because every other word was fuck, and it's a bad example for our children, and then 400 mumsnetters wrote fuck of jane?

So was all that totally unrelated to the current Jane thing?

peanutbear · 07/07/2007 22:09

my sister middle name is jane too but she puts a y in it for some reason

Piffle · 07/07/2007 21:27

I was meant to be Lara after Dr Zhivago...
However my mum was sleepy after being induced and having me delivered via forceps.
Cue first visitor my VERY pink frilly paternal auntie who had 6 daughters - 3 sets id twins.
Saw me newly born all a slumber and said
Oooh
Let's call her Melanie Louise
My mum woke up from said coma and barked
No her names... erm
Jane
Nuff said

I don't know, but my name is vicky......no longer used? bizzarre.

Wheelybug · 07/07/2007 20:40

my middle name too. dull. but have long first name and had complicated maiden name so wasn't too bad in the big picture (and probably why it was chosen).

Idreamofdaleks · 07/07/2007 20:39

It's my middle name too - very dull, could have done without it

There were three Jane's in my maths class. We all used to sit together, to buy ourselves time when the teacher called on us for an answer. "Oh, sorry sir, thought you meant the other Jane ..."

msappropriate · 07/07/2007 18:59

its less common as in frequency but my dear old mum thought with a was a very commmon spelling (as in lower class). Ive always like the name and all names are boring when you know more that two of them.

CakeandFineWine · 07/07/2007 18:57

I'm Jane too
Hi! Its SUCH a boring name tho!

JeremyJayneVile · 07/07/2007 18:54

Yes, it is faaaar less common with a Y [looking down my nose emoticon]

msappropriate · 07/07/2007 18:50

The oddest thing is when someone assumes that you spell it with a y when that would be the far less common spelling.
