To think that my neighbour complaining about our noisy sex is over-reacting.

He lives in the house next door to us and every time we make love he starts banging on the wall. We're not that noisy and try to keep it down. My sweetheart thinks he's jealous. Anyway, the police came to interview us yesterday because our neighbour had reported us for breaking noise laws. The worst part though was that he had made tapes of us and given them to the police who insisted on playing them to us. The trouble is the walls are paper thin and the police suggested if we can't control our sound levels if would be considerate if we didn't do it late at night. I'm sorry, but I kind of resent being told by the police when and when I cannot have sexual intercourse, and I'm also freaked out that someone is taping me having sex. I'm sure it's illegal to record someone without their consent but the police said it's ok if they record sounds that are coming into their house. In my view it's harrassment, it's not like we're blasting out loud music in the middle of the night. Has anyone else had problems with neighbours reporting them to the police? I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where we stand legally.

gordieracer: Check out Mumsnet Troll Policy Here

That will explain it. RosemaryWoodhouse might do with a remainder too.

gordieracer · 01/07/2007 23:47

I don't get the whole "troll" thing
what does it mean?

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 23:42

apparantly after sex bonobos eat ornage seeds, a piece of useless information I ahve picked up somewhere.

StarryStarryNight · 01/07/2007 23:41

Bonobo as in Pan paniscus, alias "Pygmy Chimp"?

Lost me there....

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 23:27

Its all to do with bonobos apparantly

StarryStarryNight · 01/07/2007 23:21

I must be an even thicker Lutheran because I totally missed the point of the fruit being citrus....

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 23:17

Now even though I am a thick catholic I know that a watermelon is not a citrus fruit.

StarryStarryNight · 01/07/2007 23:16

Twinset, how about a watermelon? Sure they would abolish your school fees then!

LoveAngel · 01/07/2007 23:10

PMSL @ this thread. Get your 'sweetheart' a gimp mask. Solves a plethora of noise-related problems.

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 23:08

If I can manage a grapefruit do I get discounted school fees?

Quattrocento · 01/07/2007 23:06

Twinset, you are never going to be a Tory MP. Despite your best endeavours. Tory MPs do use larger fruits, as we know, but they do it on their own. You're just not getting the hang of this, are you?

ScottishMummy · 01/07/2007 23:04

oooo you are funny.. i got a mental image of u with fruit in every orifice...quite a thought

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 22:59

I find a lemon too small and a lime can disapear with all those open orifices.

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 22:57

explicit warning needed with that link.

ScottishMummy · 01/07/2007 22:48

just an orange?or any citrus fruit

WosemaryRoodhouse · 01/07/2007 22:47

thought you'd appreciate this

twinsetandpearls · 01/07/2007 22:46

I find placing an ornage in my mouth keeps me quiet during sex ( there I go again comparing myself to a tory mp again)

sweetcherrypie · 01/07/2007 21:42

Why would you make a story like this up? Its a bit odd

ViciousSquirrelSpotter · 01/07/2007 21:33

ROFL at this attempt at trolling

It's a good basic precept, but you need to know a little bit more about what the police would take seriously and how they would handle it, if you expected not to be spotted absolutely first post.

ScottishMummy · 01/07/2007 21:31

awww dirty xenia...suggesting using a gag

Judy1234 · 01/07/2007 21:19

Use a gag may be.....

My sister's neighbours complained about her shouting at her children although not to police. In the end she and they attended a mediation session arranged by the local council (who had said normal children's noise etc could never be a nuisance). I think they paid for some sound proofing and then ultimately she moved anyway. It's certainly difficult.
