To not stop DD when she.....

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 09:50

runs into our bedroom at 6am in the morning and starts poking, patting and shouting at DH until he wakes up and acknowledges her, even though he is currently on late shifts and needs a lie in?

I suspect DH thinks I am but she asks for Dada the second I lift her from the cot and I don't like to refuse my PFB.....

Thats' 7 hours broken as I am a light sleeper and we have loud neighbours!

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:22

I have probably had about 7 hours but I am the same, anything less than 8 and I am a state. I used to have really bad insomnia and can feel myself getting into that 'everything feels like a dream' state.

And he's still asleep! thats 4 and a half hours extra!

and all I would like is for my dh not to be such a selfish git and maybe get up with the kids once a week

TrinityRhino · 01/07/2007 10:20

7 hours
and yuou think that is tough
I need a solid 8 hours or I start to feel like I have been run over by a bus
but I haven't had more than 3 hours straight and no more than 7 in a night for 2 years now

GodzillasBumcheek · 01/07/2007 10:18

That depends what time you get to sleep, surely? I need a solid 8 hours or i am cranky as heck. Unfortunately have been on 7 hours since dd3 was born. Ah woe is me.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 01/07/2007 10:12

well if you start going to bed before he comes in from work, he might take a hint when he has barely seen you for a few days and get up earlier

hippmummy · 01/07/2007 10:11

I don't think you are mean chirpygirl. If he wakes, acknowledges her and can go back to sleep for 3 hours it's really not a problem!

Also FWIW I don't see 6.00 as that early. In our house DS2 wakes 5 - 5.30 every day. 6 o'clock is a lie-in for us!

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:11

I know I should go to bed earlier but if I do I'd never spend any time alone with him.....
Might be in bed before he gets home tonight though.....

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 01/07/2007 10:09

you say you go to bed at the the same time. why dont you go to bed earlier?

not being funny, but i would.

and yes its a bit mean.

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:08

He works 6 days a week so it's not fair for him to get up on a work day. I always did it but now I am 6 months gone it is starting to grate!

OP posts:
FlamingTomatoes · 01/07/2007 10:08

You should be taking turns to get up with her, but not disturbing each other's sleep too much - sleep is precious.

You could now quite reasonably go and wake him up and leave your dd with him while you have a sleep though.

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:06

Cant ask him, he's still asleep! git.

I got a bit concerned with all the IABU, glad some people agree with me!

And if he worked a proper night shift I wouldn't dream of it but he is in bed by midnight!

OP posts:
FlamingTomatoes · 01/07/2007 10:06

A good plan would be to have him get up with her at 6 am twice a week, and let you loll in bed until 10. Then you won't feel so cross that you are not getting a break, and you won't feel like letting your dd wake him, and he won't feel resentful that he gets woken at 6am every morning, he will be less tired, and you should get your lay ins.

Youi didn't mention before that you are pregnant - this changes things IMO

geekgirl · 01/07/2007 10:05

oh, I see

I think you should try to take turns with getting up

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:04

She has woken at 6 last few days cos one of the neighbours keeps slamming his van door under her window, she normally wakes at 7 which is why it is killing me.

OP posts:
TrinityRhino · 01/07/2007 10:04

I don't think your being mean btw

DoubleBluff · 01/07/2007 10:04

Mean he gets a normal nights sleep , and doesn't warrant a really late lie in.

GodzillasBumcheek · 01/07/2007 10:03

Have you actually asked him then? MN is not a substitute for communication between you and your dh!
Sorry that sounded a bit sh*tty, but it's true! Only dh can give you the real answer! Only smarties have the answer.

francagoestohollywood · 01/07/2007 10:03

But yes, 6 am is a bit extreme, even for a PFB

DoubleBluff · 01/07/2007 10:03

2-10 isn't that late. Means a normal night shift.
When I work lates it is until 2am.
Would not be happy with a 6am start then.
He should be up by now lazy bugger!

Chirpygirl · 01/07/2007 10:03

No, not a wind up, I am just pissed off at going to bed at same time as DH and getting up with DD when she wakes at 6 but he gets a lie in, even though preggy hormones mean I am exhausted.
Plus if I don't let her she cries and throws a tantrum.

Didn't realise quite how mean you all think I am being, feel bad now.

OP posts:
TrinityRhino · 01/07/2007 10:03

dh never gives me a fucking lie in but I've never been mean anough to do that
dd2 begs for her daddy every morning but he just sleeps til past noon all the fucking time

FlamingTomatoes · 01/07/2007 10:02

Better if he goes straight back to sleep, but if someone did this to me it would really piss me off, sorry. It's really hard to stay active on a late shift when every cell of your body is screaming at you to reast at 8 at night - worse if you were woken at 6am, I imagine!

francagoestohollywood · 01/07/2007 10:02

so you are the one who has to actually wake up at 6 am? He's still asleep? No, you are not being unreasonable.

Skribble · 01/07/2007 10:02

I couldn't handle that, but my DH would go straight back to sleep though.

I think any child running about at 6am needs a reality check though and if this is a regular thing I think you need to stop it now or PFB will become SLB .
