to think that £150 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a toaster

and even more unreasonable to have actually considered doing so (especially as we are a bit boracic just now).

I mean, is it REALLY going to make better toast than the £19.99 jobby from argos, or do i just want it to look pretty (very 50's retro) But seriously, does it make a difference? I remember my mother giving us quite an expensive toaster ages ago and it made shite toast, although it wasnt £150.

We have been making toast on the grill for years now because of the shite toaster but now i want a toaster and cant decide on £9.99 or saving up for an all singing all dancing toaster in primrose yellow and shiny chrome.

My mum has a toaster that cost her £9.99 about 14 years ago and it is still going strong.

My toaster was £4.99 from Sainsbury's. Works fine!
£150?? What does it do, apart from make toast?

I love my 4 slice chrome Dualit one. And it repairable unlike cheaper ones (I had to replace one of the elements recently after, oooh, 7 years)

You could by 6 £25 toasters for that and feed an army

We have a Dualit. Two slice one though so slightly cheaper. But it is great. It looks good in the kitchen, matches other stuff we have, and it works well.

We didn't spend money we didn't have or anything to buy it, so does it matter to anyone selse really what I chose to buy?

I would agree that brabantia bins are rubbish - mine went in the skip. It really really was the worst money we have ever spent on a kitchen item.

So....which is the BEST over priced posh kettle then?

Morning all! Have just made toast on my lovely dualit toaster. It does 4 slices at once, so whole family happily toasted up in one go! We have had our dualit for almost 8 years, still going strong!

Best bit about it is the toaster 'cages' we have - lovely toasted cheese sandwiches for lunch on a rainy day!

Had a brabantia bin too (the soft touch lid one, rubbish that was, worst £80 I ever spent)

I draw the line at designer loo brushes though - once you get poo on them bristles - yuck!!

I've got a dualit toaster. It looks great, but doesn't toast any better than my previous toaster which was given to me by my mums church group as the slots weren't wide enough for tea cakes. However, the cheapy church toaster was nearly new and was falling apart 4 years on.
The dualit is as good as new 5 years later.

I've got a brabantia bin too!

Have a warming nap on the aga while you make warming toast in your argos toaster, then you will feel all warm and cosy.

very good for warming bottoms on these chilly june oh no look it is july fancy that nights, too!

have just been to a party. outside. under a sort of awning-y tenty thing. in Party Clothes. I am cold and wet and rather cross about the weather!

Oh ok. But an aga keeps towels warm so has other advantages if you like that sort of thing I guess?

because I know many many many many people who all put them on their wedding lists and all think they are crap based on the fact that they never made good toast and died somewhere between the honeymoon and year 3 of the marriage
