that life's too short?

Or should we only be posting about terribly serious weighty matters like death, famine and pestilence?

poor little thing

ronshar · 28/06/2007 11:23

Thank you Desiderata. I shall toughen up.

My dds were in the bath together when dd2 did a very big poo, she was 18months. It terrified her. She was hysterical for ages. Even now she will not entertain the idea of doing a wee in the bath!

Katy44 · 28/06/2007 08:45

No one answered my question about noticing wees in the bath? Probably because my posts are long and rambly
Aitch - I want to start BLW, I'm really excited about it! Can I give DS (9 weeks) a carrot stick? Can I, please???
OK, I'll wait another 16 or 17 weeks

Desiderata · 27/06/2007 21:02

No one's getting you wrong, ronshar. MN is like that, much of the time.

But rather than being cowed by it, you should try to see it as an intriguing social experiment. Just what are people prepared to say within the anonymity of a chat room? And who gives a shit any how?

I spent years bemoaning the state of modern society ... and yet, oddly, MN has reminded me that people don't intrinsically change. 99.5% of women and men on MN are great, just so long as you stick to your guns and remain civil.

If someone really pisses you off, tell them so. That's the 0.5%

AttilaTheMum · 27/06/2007 20:53

Oh, I didn't show her the whole thread, nightynight -I just said it sounded like most schools had the same problem & no answers - I didn't really want to let her realise quite how long I'd spent reading that thread - and a few others- that afternoon

ronshar · 27/06/2007 20:29

Oh dont get me wrong I am up for a good debate any day of the week. What I dont really like is the way some people use this avenue to be quite unpleasant. Lots of threads seem to start off as a bit of fun and then get hijacked by others with a personal axe to grind.
Maybe I need to harden myself to the all females in one room mind set!
I am not trying to get at anyone I am genuinely interested by this.

Nightynight · 27/06/2007 18:42

rofl atilla, what on earth did your headmistress think of that thread!

Aitch · 27/06/2007 16:13
lucyellensmum · 27/06/2007 16:12

is that all you have to say, right (rolls up sleave) outside!!!!

Just kidding

Aitch · 27/06/2007 16:11

lol!

dal21 · 27/06/2007 16:09

LEM - i have seen, take my hat off to you! tis an acquired skill!

lucyellensmum · 27/06/2007 16:08

Get the popcorn girls, i think aitch just called me a wanker

dal21 · 27/06/2007 16:08

LOL Aitch! feel free!

lucyellensmum · 27/06/2007 16:07

dal21, dont need your pop corn, i've dissapated it with frivilous talk of frills and balarinas

Aitch · 27/06/2007 16:06

erk, have just read it. weird how these things can take a turn, isn't it? surely you will allow me a Wanker to be directed at that poster...?

dal21 · 27/06/2007 15:57

No Aitch not the 4 by 4 one, that is very light hearted . The ear piercing one. Unfortunately veered into murky territory of racism.
might go search on 'double parking'...am nornally terrible at sitting still and doing nothing, MN is assisting a great deal with the resting. ha ha!

AttilaTheMum · 27/06/2007 15:54

Don't knock the "I was forced to double park" thread - it's the one that got me onto MN.
I was googling Parking at school, because my headteacher wanted to find out what happened at other schools in an attempt to solve our parking problem.
We still haven't solved the parking problem, but if she finds me on MN at work, she only has herself to blame....

Aitch · 27/06/2007 15:44

where? ear piercing? neighbour's life? not the 4x4 one, surely... it's not ugly, it's quite good-natured tbh for a 4x4 debate. seriously.

dal21 · 27/06/2007 15:38

right next to this one aitch....has passed the popcorn stage though and turned downright ugly.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 15:36

lol. where's the popcorn thread, dal? i Love them...

ganging up. pmsl. that old chestnut. please report any bullying by pressing the red exclamation mark on the right, ronshar. other than that if people typing on their computers all over the world just happen to agree with each other you'll just have to suffer it.

Nightynight · 27/06/2007 15:15

I think the answer is that one person's frivolous crap can be pretty shocking to someone else.

never forgotten the unfortunate mnetter ( though her nickname has passed into the haze) who innocently posted "I was forced to double park..." (outside her child's school), and started a storm!

funkimummy · 27/06/2007 15:01

I agree - the ganging up is rubbish. It's just like school was! Anyway. I like frivolous crap, random crap. I find the 'crap in the bath' post funny also. So I'm in! Anyone for a DIY Hemmorhoidectomy?

Soph73 · 27/06/2007 14:47

ronshar - I think you´re right, some of the time it does seem like bullying. I´ve only just joined in some of the threads because of that reason. I don´t know what I´d do if I heard ds giving someone as much grief as some of the people get on here!
