He claims it is for a client!

Client my arse, where are his priorities fgs, I have given him 2 children had my stomach slashed and my nethers stitched and what thanks do I get?

Do you think divorce is too harsh or just separate for a while?

TIA

Well then, they clearly deserve each other. He's oppressing her and in turn, she's taking it out on you, her own sister! the shame of it!!!

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 14:30

off to board meeting, let me know when I can pick up the keys binkle...

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 14:29

sometimes my sister (deep breath - admission coming) buys me stuff too (though not cars sadly) - now I feel unclean.

UnquietDad · 26/06/2007 14:28

It's a bloody CAR. I don't get the excitment some people feel for these things.

And if you want one, buy one. Why does DH need to "let" you?

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 14:28

What a git! I hope you've recommended she that she leaves him immediately!

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 14:27

its OK binkle _ I have convinced myself that what I really really wanted was... a Vauxhall meriva so I bought one of those. Be still my beating heart.

Sometimes I go and drool on my sisters Aston Martin but obviously only in a disrespectful way because her DH bought it (thought it is "theirs" not "hers" so maybe that is OK - am confused now).

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 14:19

Ha Kewcy, I for one think you deserve, in fact, are DUE a merc, or whatever else you fancy. Bringing up children is what matters, not who does what and you're doing it alone and I really respect that

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 14:06

binkle - no don't think I'd have any respect for myself if I tried to demean myself by buying a mercedes. Thats why I haven't done it

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 13:22

Notice xenia has dipped out of this thread...
Pmsl at the rest of it though v.funny

Oblomov · 26/06/2007 12:28

Dh promised to buy it for me , for next christmnas - yeah right, from our joint account - I don't see the point of having seperate accounts when you are married. We don't buy 'eachother' anything in that sense - everything that is bought is paid for by us.

Oblomov · 26/06/2007 12:26

We went to the Mercendes Benz World for our Firms Christmas do - it was fab - and we saw all the cars - including one costing £660K

nearlythere · 26/06/2007 12:12

just spoken to dh- he's quite happy for me to buy him a new merc if i feel the need but he said he'd prefer a range rover

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 12:04

Kewcy, you'd be undermining yourself doing that..could you live with it???

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 12:02

I am a sole parent, no DH or DP anywhere in sight - should I be furious when as a WOHM I buy my SAHM self a car. One (of many) little conundrums I have to consider.

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 11:48

I suppose if you look at it that way, our income is pooled too - he puts in his salary plus bonus and commission, share dividends etc and I put in the child benefit...so we're virtually equal really!!

nearlythere · 26/06/2007 11:48

i buy my cars, and dh's cars and dss1's car. Doesn't bother me or them- dh is happy to be a sahd and loves the fact that he no longer has to take financial responsibility.

In fact he brags about being a kept man with his mates! Should i tell him off?

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 11:45

Ha, thanks Kewcumber, I'm bearing up so far though...

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 11:45

Oh I know, Anna, they're awful arent they? I'm digusted at having to drive one really, but, you know, needs must..

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 11:44

if the shame gets too much for you binkle - I'll cat you my address and I'll take the source of your hands. Purely as a generous gesture you understand.

Hulababy · 26/06/2007 11:44

DH doesn't buy me anything. I don't buy DH anything. Well, we don't really if you think about it. All our income goes into a joint pot. DH may bring home more money than me from his FT out of the house work, but without me only working PT and then me doing big bulk of housework, shopping and childcare, he wouldn't be able to do that. So we have joint money, so really we both buy each other things, and ourselves things.

To me we are a partnership. We each work to our strengths for that partnership. For DH that means working out of the house. For me it means PT work and then doing other stuff without pay. We are both equally important in the partnership though. Job, career and income is not what defines that IMO.

And back to the car - I loved my A4 cabriolet, that we both paid for out of the joint account (regardless of how much we both put into it).

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 11:42

If you were me, do you mean, mozhe?

Anna8888 · 26/06/2007 11:42

Mercedes are just horrible

mozhe · 26/06/2007 11:40

I would be ashamed.

binkleandflip · 26/06/2007 11:38

Can I just reiterate that when your dp buys you a car, that's generally a great feeling, so lets not pretend otherwise eh? And the correct response is "Thank you darling!!!!" Not "You effing b!!! What the hell are you trying to pull on me?????"

Now, I'm just off for a whizz in my CLK...try not to pity me too much Xenia, please

mozhe · 26/06/2007 11:37

Reply...' are you drunk ? or have you lost YOUR wallet ? ' < his emoticon, not mine >
What else could I ask him for ? We need Anna.....
