I snooze from 7.20 until 7.40 whilst DH gives breakfast. I will help with getting DC aged 4 dressed and sorted then DH does school run at 8.30 whilst I attempt to wake up.

If DH is working I will get up at 7.30 and struggle to get moving. Similar routine except I walk to school and feel embarrassed to walk to school with no makeup and hair shot in a bobble.

Even if I go to bed earlier amd get up earlier I really struggle to be alert before 9am

I can't be arsed to post my school run/morning shenanigans....it's too ridiculous and a bit boring.

But this What kind of disability includes bad sleeping? - I just had to point out .... lots of disabilities include poor sleep.

Dd wakes between 6-6.30, we don't get up/ go downstairs until 7.30.
She has her breakfast while I empty/load dishwasher or shower and then get dressed. Once I'm ready, DD will have finished breakfast so she gets dressed while I put washing out. Quick teeth brush and we are out at 8.35 and at school time.

halfwitpicker · 10/11/2018 00:04

Up at 6am, shower, breakfast, dressed, hair, makeup. Kids up, dressed, breakfast, out of the house at 7am. Dropped at nursery then we catch the train. Rinse and repeat.

Your husband must be pissed off with it all.

Revengers18 · 09/11/2018 23:57

Hmmm, I'm not a morning person either but I wake up at 7.15 am, wake the kids up and get them washed and then dh gets up at 7.30 to get ready whilst I take the kids downstairs and do the breakfast, lunches etc. I basically do all the prep and then dh comes down and has breakfast and drops them off whilst I stay with our 2 year old. If you're a SAHM OP then it's a bit unfair that your dh does the lion's share in the mornings AND drops them off... It's hard but you need to drag yourself out of bed and get going, you can snooze once they're all out... I do find it easier getting up in Summer though as do the DC's...

3in4years · 09/11/2018 23:33

Agh school run!
Up 6.45.
Kids dressed then breakfast with us.
We take turns showering and getting ourselves and baby dressed.
Mad dash grabbing lunches, book bags, shoes, cleaning teeth, brushing hair...
4yo, 3yo and baby.
I hate it!

Blanchedupetitpois · 09/11/2018 23:23

I have to get up at 6 every day. That’s just life, you get on with it.

arethereanyleftatall · 09/11/2018 23:18

Our routine is;
7.30 - dd2 wakes up naturally and comes to our bed for cuddles.
8am - dd1 joins her. Bit squashed.
8.10 - all up, eat breakfast together, chat
8.25 - all get dressed, brush teeth, do hair
8.45- all leave, I walk dds to school for 8.50, dh walks to work for 9.
All rather lovely, no shouting, no stress, always been thus.

All you're actually doing is helping a 4 year old dress and occasionally taking them to school, at a time far later than the vast majority. If you're struggling with this, something is going wrong somewhere, sorry.

Everyone up at 7am. Breakfast in pyjamas, get kids ready. 7.45 DH leaves for work. Kids 5, 7, watch telly while i get ready. 8.15 leave house.

1wokeuplikethis · 09/11/2018 23:13

Is anybody really a morning person? Does anyone have their alarm go off in the morning and scream “FINALLY!! MORNING IS HERE!!” erm no. You suck it up and even if it’s autopilot you do what you need to do for the benefit of your children.

I get up at 7:40. My dd is dressed for school as she wakes up around 7am. We go downstairs and her and my littlest have breakfast which is cereal and crumpets. I sit at the table with them while they eat and put my make up on (I shower in the evening and just spritz deodorant on before going downstairs to do the kids bfast). After they’ve eaten, they brush their teeth. I do my daughters hair and wash up her drinks bottle/refill (lunchbox done the evening before). Then I scarper upstairs for a poo, get dressed, do my hair quickly, brush my teeth. My husband dresses our youngster in the meantime. Eldest puts her shoes on, I help the little one, grab book bag & drink and coats and we are out the door for 8:35ish.

I’m back for 9:15 so just have my breakfast then. I am a SAHM.

I loathe mornings. I never get enough sleep. Both my children still wake frequently every night and I am a light sleeper with a weak bladder. But you just carry on the hamster wheel and get your arse out of bed. I am usually doing my morning wee feeling groggy as fuck while my 5yo stands over me asking for jammy crumpets, can she take so and so to school, did I remember I promised to do whatever this morning etc. The easy (albeit cruellest) thing to do would be to not engage or tell her to go away until mummy’s had her cup of tea blah blah but I don’t want to be that mother so I am ‘on’ all of the time.

I don’t know if it’s healthy but my kids are happy.

Singletomingle · 09/11/2018 23:11

I'm amazed how many people take 30 mins or even longer before they can function in a morning how do you cope when your children are bouncing on your bed demanding stuff at 6 in the morning?

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 09/11/2018 23:09

My school run is a dream... live in the middle of no where so the council's send taxis to pick up my kids (1 primary 1 secondary) take them to school at 8.15 and drop them back at 3.45 to my front door. Never had to do the school gate! And as I am in Wales this has been since the boys were 3 years old!

JessicaJonesJacket · 09/11/2018 23:05

I'm not a morning person so I get up at 6.15am (15 mins before everyone else) and listen to music whilst I make breakfast. 6.30am give DC breakfast. Shower, get dressed. Packed lunch in bag. Leave at 7.45am.
You need to create a routine.

Onestep2 · 09/11/2018 23:03

When DSD (10) stays on school nights it's lunches and uniform sorted and laid out the night before. We're up at 7.30, breakfast for DSD, teeth, washed etc.

I will get washed dressed, fire hair up in what can only be described as a miss trunchbull bun, no make-up (not one fuck given) and out door for 8.30. Drop DSD off and head straight to work and at my desk for 9.10am.

Usual routine when DSD isn't with us is the exact same except I'm up and out house within 15mins. I have mastered it to a fine art. I would rather 10 more mins in bed than spend time doing my hair and make up hahaha 😂😂

Ollivander84 · 09/11/2018 23:01

I hate mornings. No DC but work means I have to be up at 5.50am. I get up earlier so I can have 15 mins with a brew and wake up
I get up because I have to!

pickledolive · 09/11/2018 22:58

I have 4 dc I'm up at 6 for a shower etc dressed and makeup . With the noise of that kids start to wake up. They get dressed. Eat breakfast if I'm not working or have breakfast at school at breakfast club if I'm at work. I try and get lunches packed the night before so less stress in the morning . Leave the house @ 7:55 drop dd at nursery 2dc at school and 1dc at secondary school then off to work for 8:30. Often feels like being in the military but we have out routine sorted. The key is being prepared night before and getting up earlier so not rushing .

Cherrysherbet · 09/11/2018 22:57

3 days a week I’m up at 4:45am to get to shower and get to work by 6am. The other 2 week days I’m up at 6:30 to shower, then wake kids and do school run. The weekends I’m up early with my dd...dh works early, so no lie ins for me!
I’ve had small children for the last 21 yrs (3 with large gaps) so early mornings are the norm for me.
You sound very lazy tbh. You are parent. YABVU.

SkaterGrrrrl · 09/11/2018 22:54

YABU

SoyDora · 09/11/2018 22:49

Mine are 4 (in reception) and 3. I get up at 6.30am and shower before the DC are up at 7. We have breakfast, then get DC washed/dressed/teeth cleaned etc. Do DD’s reading if she hasn’t done it the night before. Our the house at 8.20am to walk to school, then we walk on to DD2’s Pre-School.

Lymphy · 09/11/2018 22:48

I'm not good in the mornings either takes me a few hours to come round. I get up early to give myself wake up time. Prep everything the night before, bags next to door, uniform hung up ready. DH leaves super early, he always leaves a coffee by the bed for me, and a WhatsApp message saying if he's managed to do anything ie, dishwasher emptied etc sometimes he has time sometimes not. I get up at 6, sit for forty mins to come around, do any housework leftover, I get ds up at 7:15. We all leave the house me, ds (3), dd 4 months fed and ready at 8:30 for nursery start at 8:40. Except the baby who I dress on return. Has to be done

BitchQueen90 · 09/11/2018 22:48

I wake up at 6am, make a coffee and relax for half an hour. 6.30am jump in the shower then wake DS. 7am we have breakfast. 7.30m-8.30am DS watches TV while I do my hair and make up, get dressed, brush teeth, get DS to brush his teeth and get dressed then we leave at 8.30. School is a 10-15 minute walk from home. Then I walk to work after the school run, I start work at 9.30.

I am a morning person though and I like plenty of time in the mornings to get sorted, I hate rushing about.

scepticalwoman · 09/11/2018 22:47

Poor OP - hearing that the rest of the world has to suck it up and prioritise their children and family needs rather than their own wishes. It's tough but as you can hear. so many people have no choice. Being an adult and parent means stepping outside your own feelings and prioritising the needs of your family.

Singletomingle · 09/11/2018 22:46

You seem very lucky my ex had similar I got up a 6 got myself ready for work thrm gave my dc breakfast and got them ready for school. I left home at 7.30 with everything done including lunches and bags packed. My ex would get up about 8 and struggle to get my dc to school on time despite it being a 5 minute walk. When on holiday I got up at 7.30 did the same stuff and walked my dc to school with time to spare.

MartyMcFly1984 · 09/11/2018 22:46

The quickest way to wake yourself up is to get out of bed and be active.

4am kids start to stir. Broken sleep from now on.
5am dh gets up
5.30am dh leaves
6am I get up with kids! If not already up
Do everything for youngest 2.
7.30 take youngest to childcare
Drop eldest off.
8.30 take middle child to school.
9am set off to my job that starts at 9am.
If it’s my day off I don’t do make up. I only wear it at work -to hide the bags-

May I suggest an early night or see a gp.

monkymoose · 09/11/2018 22:45

is this a reverse??? from a disgruntled husband???

chipsandgin · 09/11/2018 22:45

We all 'struggle', we all feel shit and the rest of of us just get on with it, because we're not princesses that's life! Were you under the impression that everyone else likes getting up in the cold and dark when they are tired and would rather be asleep. that we all have dark circles under our eyes and go for 'haggard and sleep deprived' because we think it is a good look!?

So you 'Snooze' whilst your (presumably working?) partner gets on with breakfast, you deign to 'help' with getting your only child dressed, 'attempt to wake up' whilst your partner does the school run. Seriously?

Unless there is some massive drip feed about disability or long term health/mental health conditions then you just sound entitled and lazy and like you aren't pulling your weight, I'm surprised you get away with it (unless this is a reverse as pp suggested about a lazy partner?)..
