In being disappointed that parents of other children in ds's nursery

have sent round a chain style sticker club letter. He is 3.
Not that they know but I am on my own with dd and ds at the moment, trying to cope with working and managing everything else. I could have cried when I opened the letter asking to send stickers to other children in his class at their home address. I don't have the time and I don't have any bl**dy stickers. Plus I HATE chain letters.

bin it and if anyone says ;why?' just repeat whats on here and say 'but i'm happy for you to continue it on my behalf if you've got the time?'

kitbit · 14/06/2007 09:46

I'd bin it and have a strong word with the school. If someone sends you stickers keep them, then if the person ahead of you that you were "meant" to send sticker to asks where they are (if they are all in the same class I suppose they might!) then you can give ds the ones you were sent to pass on and that way nobody is disappointed and you still get to make your point.

Elasticwoman · 13/06/2007 21:29

I never answer chain letters. Good opportunity for you to teach your ds to do the same. The sender will probably forget, or not have the cheek to follow up & demand stickers with menaces. You might say, if the subject comes up "sorry, don't do chain letters" and smile sweetly.

Sorry you are on your own with 2 dc. At least you have MN! My dh moans that he is a MN widower (but not as politely as that).

mylittlefreya · 13/06/2007 19:20

I would be REALLY annoyed too in your position. I hope you can stand up for yourself - what a way to make children and parents feel bad!

janeite · 13/06/2007 17:46

God I hate chain letters too. I'd just bin it.

fireflyfairy2 · 13/06/2007 17:00

I hate chain mail

I hate emails that say send to 2 people in 2 mins, 10 people in 10 mins & have more luck etc...

Ignore it

Troutpout · 13/06/2007 16:59

Bin the fecker

newgirl · 13/06/2007 16:55

agree with soldiermum - in this case give the stickers back to original child and dont make a big deal out of it

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 13/06/2007 12:21

Well I would put the stickers given to you in an envelope and put it back in the lady who gave it to you's childs intray just say sorry this isnt the sort of thing you are into and can she give it to someone else you dont have to be nasty just take yourself out of it

PetitFilou1 · 13/06/2007 12:15

Btw they left the letter in ds's box at nursery so the nursery hasn't given out names and addresses - the other parents are giving me theirs in fact!

Nice to know I have support from the majority. The mother of the boy who sent it to my ds is a shy retiring type who doesn't seem to have many friends which is why I don't feel I want to ignore it completely ...but I still annoyed about it

Agree with flibbertyjinnet - can't believe anyone at school has been allowed to give out children's names and addresses! That's shocking! Ay my school we are not even allowed to give out lists of children's names with surnames. If parents want a list of kids in classes for invitations/ Christmas cards etc it has to be first names only. I would be horrified if my name/address was given to a load of other parents. Go and see the teacher.

MadamePlatypus · 13/06/2007 12:09

Yes. Very, very, very, very silly parents. Ignore, or if you are feeling up to it, complain to pre-school.

zubb · 13/06/2007 12:07

my 5 year old got one of these from a friend - I just gave him the stickers that were in it and binned the letter.
No need to reply to it at all.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 13/06/2007 12:04

So did the person send you sticks then if so I would send the letter and the stickers back to the sender and say you not into this sort of thing!

zookeeper · 13/06/2007 11:58

I would ignore it - I think it's really thoughtless - as if you've got nothing else to do

Gobbledigook · 13/06/2007 10:44

Oh God, I'd just ignore it. Seriously.

flibbertyjibbet · 13/06/2007 10:41

If the nursery have supplied names and addresses then they are contravening the data protection act and tell them so.
I hate chain letters and would just ignore it.

kslatts · 13/06/2007 10:29

I'd ignore it and mention it to the nursery staff that you didn't feel it was appropriate.

auntymandy · 13/06/2007 10:02

lifes too short to get this wothed up about a few stickers!!!

tuppy · 13/06/2007 10:00

Completely ignore it. What were they thinking ?

bookwormmum · 13/06/2007 10:00

It's setting a dangerous precedent to get 3-year olds into chain letters. What's the point of it apart from a lot of expense and hassle?

Same goes for chain texts.

McDreamy · 13/06/2007 09:57

I would also ignore it

admylin · 13/06/2007 09:57

Bin it or even better tear it up and bin it, you'll feel better. Chain letters are ridiculous and if they start now, the next ones will be by post and then you have to start buying stamps etc... once a very well educated friend of mine sent us one that her daughter had been given and I told her straight out, I'm not joining in on that and you should tell your daughter the same, she had used all her pocket money to buy stamps poor girl.

NoodleStroodle · 13/06/2007 09:56

I don't think you need to reply - that just makes it "an issue". Bin & forget it.
