to expect very tight security at school?

i came to pick up ds from nursery. The guard should have been at the gate but buzzed me in from the office. I went in thru the automated gate and then a second gate that was also open and into playground and picked up ds from nursey building. When i came out of the premises i saw the guard hadn't closed the gate. (i cant do it, it is automated)

I was flabbergasted, it was playtime for the main school and the kids were a few feet from the street and a busy road. I couldn't see the teacher on duty anywhere in sight.

I complained to the guard - he since had appeared - and he said he could see everything from the camera

I think it is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Am i unreasonable to expect 100% security?

You won't get 100%, any suggestion that you can is unrealistic imo. Sounds like Fort Knox as it is tbh, how sad

his office is not near the gate. some boys wer ekicking a ball and they were already thru the first gate. Its only yards to the main road, and they have run there if there ball had.

so what is the point of weatching it from afar? Oh no...a boy ran out...he is too far to make a difference. Or what if someone walked in...

it would be a problem if he saw a child going out and he is in his little box watching it..........no good once the child has bolted out onto the road!!

I think it is important for the children to be safe, but I am perturbed by schools that look more like prisons, tbh.

Our school (also in London) doesn't have a guard. Is this the norm?

If he could see people coming in and out then what was the problem?

i di point it out to the guard. he got very upset, and said what do you expect of me, i have such big premises to secure...
