Did anyone use the forum ‘The Deadwood’

THE Deadwood popped into my head today, and I came on line to search for it and found this old thread. I was Doodlebug on the DW and joined at the start from the purple place. I planned our wedding on there. Mad that we have just celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary, so the DW must be at least 21 years ago now. I appreciate no one commented on here since 2018. Just though would say hi.

Just reminiscing about the old PP and then The Deadwood. I did follow into the Facebook page but when I took a break from FB couldn't find my way back.

Met a load of lovely people on there

I was on there! I was Aziraphale. I was a massive lurker and didnt get too involved with discussions but it was a really good source of support for me. I went from h*d to deadwood and then to here.

I'm friends with Orbit on facebook but I'll never forget hers and the DWers kindness when I lost my son. I still get a little gulp in my throat when I think about it.

I planned my wedding on the purple place and then had a long TTC journey on Deadwood. I even went to a couple of DTCs meets.
I recognise quite a few names mentioned. I tried to keep using it but it seemed to go so quiet that posts hardly moved on at all even over a number of days.
I found mumsnet and enjoy that there's always something new to read. I do miss actually getting to "know" people though. I do wonder how some are getting on even all these years later.
I can't see how a Facebook group would ne the same really. I never got asked to join it anyway so clearly wasn't part of the in crowd. 😂

I was on it when it first spun off, coming over from Hitched. I used the TTC forum throughout my journey to have my first child, which took several years and included one MC.

DS1 is now 9...

Was fun while it lasted. Not on the FB group but was a fairly prolific poster for years on PP and DW.

I was on it, although not a prolific poster. a while back I went on and I should have cut n paste some of my old posts (birth stories and some stuff I couldn’t say out loud at that time) so it’s a shame it’s completely gone. I do remember the ladies of deadwood banding together when my DD died and amassing such a generous collection and gifts, it was very much appreciated so if you remember a user called prettyshoes then thank you again.

I've been reading this thinking I've never heard big it, but I recognize the mention of the purple place, nickj, ktc, swampytigga. Other posters that I remember are knownowt and Mrs M (who was a script writer I think?). So now I think this forum was a spin off I never knew about. Now I feel like I went to a school reunion and someone has mentioned that amazing final year party ... That I never got invited to! [Grin

Hmm.. appreciate it was quite an insular and private group but I saw swampytiggaa on here and I thought the name couldn't be a coincidence and wondered how she was. I suppose I thought if people wanted to be completely anonymous they would choose a different name!

Ahhh.. lovely memories tied up with when my pfb was a baby! I was theodora on DW and stayed fb friends with a few people but then felt I didn't have enough time for so much social media. Miss it though!

Ah it was a great forum! I was sad when it died a death... the next carrier bag man will stay with me ...it was a great place that did some amazing 'acts of kindness... for users who were struggling.

As much as its nice to reminisce I'm not sure here is the best place. As has already been acknowledged DW was/is a pretty private and insular group so not really Mumsnet thread fodder.

I remember a thread about a man made of Next bags in someone's bathroom, or am I imagining things. I even met a few people once.

I was on there too but left abruptly! I was also on the purpel place (remember Tasha and her free wedding!) before that. I miss the community; recipes for flapcrack, ‘what happened to NickJ’ threads, troll police. I can’t remember if 😭’pider/cat was hitched or deadwood nice to reminisce. I think Kieran may be on here too...

It's actually all dw's fault that I stopped using it. There was a thread one day asking 'what other forums do you use?'. A few people mentioned Mumsnet, I came to have a look and never really went back. Not enough time to look at both.

I do miss it

I was on there, stepped away (unintentionally tbh) while I dealt with some stuff and then the same, found it really quiet when I went back. I loved it though and am still in touch on FB with quite a few DWers.

I was. Can't remember my username though.
I cut down on forum useage, forgot my DW login, and never bothered again.
Still have the awesome flapcrack recipe somewhere though!

I left Facebook too although I was friends with a few on there. Mumsnet is my only vice these days! Trying to remember my username now! I did end up leaving because of some horribleness but also remember some lovely supportive people too.
