To get narked off viewing houses where the owners have painted the radiators to match the walls???

Well I am?

Saw a house last week and each and every radiator was painted. Ranging from sky blue to burgundy. Why???????????

The whole lot would need to be replaced.

Yey!! And then you find out that the contractors have painted the radiators magnolia to match the walls .
They won't can report the radiators in my new build are white...

Please don't get radiator covers they are the equivalent of those toilet roll dollies We all know what is under them You can rub down rads and paint them white

Yes, you are. If you buy the house, repaint the radiators to your own liking. Problem solved. You can hardly expect people to decorate to your tastes when they live in the house.

Ordinary radiators are ugly things. Why on earth would you want to see a bright white radiator against a burgundy wall?? Utterly hideous!! Mind you, why would you want a burgundy wall, but that's a whole different question.

It's no big deal anyway as others have said. You just repaint them or cover them. Not sure why you think they'd need replacing.

Have decided against the particular house in question Custy. I had a proper look at the radiators on Saturday and they would need replaced as there were layer upon layer of paint on them.

We are now buying a new build, with more room for less money in the same area.

It could be worse Fimbo - when my neighbour moved into her house she discovered the previous owners had carpeted around their large items of furniture. There were patches of bare boards in every room!

Sorry - I prefer them painted too. Radiators (imho) look best blended in. The less noticable the better.

I once rented a flat where they had painted around the furniture!

How bizarre is that?

Turned out she was renting me her council flat while claiming income support and was living with her new boyfriend
No wonder she included the council tax in the rent.

dh would refuse to even view a house with intragated kitchen units because he dislikes them so much, but painted radiators aren't exactly a big deal to overcome, just paint or spray them, simple no skill job. But then I hate white walls, dull dull dull . Our old sitting room had black radiators to go with orange walls, looked fab!(we did repaint to sell though).

It's not my old house in Scotland you were looking at was it. When we moved in every radiator was as you say varying shades of pink/burgundy to sky blue. We did actually paint quite a few of them. Thought it most peculiar as I'm used to unpainted white radiators. Just get the radiator paint and it's an easy job in the summer.

My friend bought a house and when she moved into it discovered the previous owners had simply painted round the furniture, so she had outlines of sofas, headboards etc. Twas comical.

Rads are really easy to paint if you buy the spray stuff. I really wouldn't let it put you off a house

wish my house had radiators dont care what colour they are it gets so cold here
my friend is moving into a house next month the walls have been carpeted halfway up
