to want to put big floyurescent notes on all the cars parked near the school on yellow lines

There's a poor woman lying unconscious in the park across from here right now with paramedics neaxt to her awaiting transport to hospital

Why?

because the usual idiots park across the yellow lines and make it impossible to see the cars charginga round the one way system.

And as I waited to collect DS3 from his group, more people just pulle dup alongside in the same paces

Their is only a crossing patrol there in the mornings now as the lollipop lady resigned due to the risks, and nobosy would cover afternoons (which coincide with senior school kick out - mornings dont).

LAst year DS3 was alomost killed by some prick parking across the lines then reversing back without looking- I have no memory what happened, he must have been thrown out the way by me as I was hit on the hand that ahd been holding him before.

AIBU if every morning i put post it notes stating you are parked on yellow lines on the windscreen (not any disabled cars obv, but fwiw I dont think there are any on the school run atm).

I don't supopose I'd dare but ffs

There's a car park 3 minutes walk away that charges 30p and is always empty. These are no poor families around here. Many of them drive Mercs.

Traffic Wardens mostly busy as nearby city is being redeveloped and they're all used there. We have lots of problems here generally (old place, narrow roads etc) and they are never anywhere to be seen.

Might send Dh out with the stickers- he wouldn't care a hoot who said what in response.

Seriously, there's a mum in the road behind me (I live 4 minutes from school) who drives around and aprks on the lines- it hurts to walk that far in heels, apaprently

(Can you tell I'm angry?? it's true though)

there's lots of issues with aprents atm- school christmas disco cancelled forever due to a lot of mums dropping kids off, sneaking out back and going to the pub (no other supervision was in place), and sports day under threat as we will have to provide seating for 400 parents but only myself and 3 others can actually help out. there's ahuge lack of commuinty here, something I never expected as council estate in poor town wemoved from (bridgwater) was much friendlier and helpful, whereas this bunch are all designer-clad types that you think would form a powerful PTA, but arenot interested (very few working mums as well)

Sorry ranting now!

and speaking of people bing inconsiderate/ heartless in emergencies. There are loads of videos on youtube of the fire in New Look on oxford street recently. My friend works in a building opposite and said people were all standing in the road taking mobile photos/videos and blocking the way for the firefighters and police, some of them even ignored the police trying to set up road blocks and just stood there gawping.

I actually think big fluourescent notes are a good idea

"Somebody was knocked down here because people like you decided to park on Yellow Lines"

"Please don't park on the Yellow Lines you are endangering children"

"Yellow Lines are there for a reason - please stop being inconsiderate"

In fact go out at night and flypost them all around the front of the school

Outside our local school people often double park on yellow lines, it's horrendous. You also often see people trying to get out beeping and honking and yelling with kids in the back of the car. There have been two accidents that i am aware of, and probably countkess more. One was our newsagents son who was killed as a van delivering the bloody evening standard was double parked and totally blocked his view.

I don't understand why you or the school don't simply contact the traffic wardens and get them to do school-time patrols

we had them around our school for about 2 weeks .. it was amazingly effective

Parents have beena sked to report it to the school who are supposed to tell the police but nothing happens at all. twice a month a community officer person comes down for a look, but its not even one car- its the accepted norm! there must ahve been 15, 20 cars parked outside school, and its not safe (urban clearway type road on that side) at any time, let alone when a nursery and primary are kicking out!

No idea about the poor woman, she looked to be a mess but I whipped kids off quick sharp, let the apramedics get on with their job. Some prat ahd parked where the ambulance could have parked , and others were stepping over her rather than take a 2 mnute detour around the park edge

I like this town as a rule but have to say it has more than its share o inconsiderate self centred me me types

no, you're quite right. I hate having to politely ask drviers to move of the pavement (risking their wing-mirror) so that I don't have to risk my 2 kids by walking in the road. It's a friendly town but most people look offended, some try and justify it and others simply ignore me! Where the fuck do some drivers get off>?!!

If you feel so strongly about it do it, someone has to make people aware of these things.

Oh Peachy, how awful!

I saw a little girl nearly get run over at the school crossing the other day, whilst helpless to grab her on account of having 3 of my own to hang on to. Was quite shaken by that, and nothing actually happened.

I really would be tempted to make the notes.

Jesus Peachy - no wonder you're fuming!

Our primary is the same - some tw@t parked a caravan across the road from the (heavily used) back gate. There was no crossing guard, no school crossing signs & the police wouldn't tell him to move it 'cos it wasn't blocking TRAFFIC. It was on a bus route too & you couldn't see around it to cross the road dd1 & dd2 are at high school now & dd3 & ds are still tiny so for all I know it's still there.

What happened to the poor woman? Is she likely to be okay?
